C&C;: Tiberian Dawn Introductory Sequence
The intro for Westwood Studios' Command & Conquer Tiberian Dawn, featuring clips from various television programmes in 1999 (of the Tiberian universe, of course). It provides background information for the game's plot as well as sets the mood for the rest of the game. It's also interesting to note how the intro shows how, in modern times, mass media and military operations mix together and cross over into each other's territory, creating potential for manipulation and abuse, an important element in the Tiberian Dawn plot. Notably, the romance clip features Daniel Kucan, Joe Kucan's brother, who later played the part of Jake McNeil in Tiberian Sun. The $perry Financial Network clip is an obvious nod to Brett W. Sperry, producer and creator of Command & Conquer. Clips include: 1. A report on the Vienna Grain Trade Center bombing 2. News report about the UN security commission closed session following Nod terrorist attack in Slovenia 3. The aforementioned soap opera romance clip 4. A nature program (with interference from Nod programming) 5. A fitness TV programme 6. News report on Nod's new Tiberium harvesting methods (GDI interference present) 7. News report about the global Tiberium holdings 8. An advertisement for an energy drink 9. Calliope channel title card 10. Eye of the Beholder is a computer role-playing game developed by Westwood Studios and published by Strategic Simulations, Inc. in 1990 for the DOS operating system, later ported to the Amiga, the Sega CD and the SNES. The Sega CD version features an exclusive soundtrack composed by Yuzo Koshiro. The title refers not only to the final adversarial character in the game but also to the 3D presentation view. It had two sequels, Eye of the Beholder II: The Legend of Darkmoon, released in 1991, and Eye of the Beholder III: Assault on Myth Drannor, released in 1993. The third game, however, was not written by Westwood, who had split with SSI over artistic differences and created the Lands of Lore series. The game was quite similar to Dungeon Master, released in 1987 by FTL Games, and was one of the early games in its genre. It won a number of awards for its gameplay, difficult puzzles and story line. There was also a Dungeons & Dragons game for the Game Boy Advance called Eye of the Beholder. However in gameplay terms it was quite different, bearing much more resemblance to the Gold Box games, such as the original Pool of Radiance. Westwood Studios (1985-2003) was a computer and video game developer, founded in 1985 as Westwood Associates by Brett Sperry and Louis Castle and based in Las Vegas, Nevada.
