Wael Ibrahim, a Syrian refugee from Homs told euronews: "We support a military strike against Syria. We want to get rid of the regime. They've used chemicals against their people, they've killed children, they've made us homeless and displaced us from our homes, and we hope they will help us to get rid of him."[referring to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad] Abu Hussein, a Syrian refugee from Deraa said: "We expect that the regime will evacuate troops from the military bases and replace them with civilians and prisoners, so we hope for a strong military strike that can paralyse the regime, Hezbollah and Iran." Um Salem, a Syrian national living in Amman said: "I don't agree with a military strike against Syria, even if the regime is guilty. We are looking for a peaceful solution, more people will be killed if they conduct a military strike, it's enough, people are homeless." Meanwhile, Israel has called up IDF reservists and deployed missile defence batteries in preparation for a possible Syrian response to an American attack. Many locals are concerned for their safety, with one, Howard Shulman saying that "there is panic because the news is that there is going to be an imminent attack either sometime today or over the weekend and no-one wants to be caught without a mask." Some beachgoers in Tel Aviv however did not seem so concerned. One surfer said that she was philosophical about the threat, and that staying away from the beach would make little difference. A surfing instructor appeared optimistic: "Well life goes on, everything is cool. The ocean is waiting for us and gas masks must wait. We have them at home but life goes on," he said. Cannon Fodder: Syrians form human shields around 'US strike targets'
As the US thrashes out bombing options, a new movement is becoming stronger among the Syrian people. Activists are gathering outside key strategic facilities expected to be targeted by American strikes. They're calling on Washington to halt its march to war, and insist they're ready to die if it doesn't. RT's Maria Finoshina sent this report from Damascus. Syria. The other side.
Following the recent events that took place in Syria, people all over the world used to see this country like it presented by media. I have been twice there and can assure you Syria is a wonderful land with its age-old traditions and unique culture. First, I came to Syria together with my friends in August 2010. That's exactly when I shot my first video about the place. Later Blake Whitman showed it on vimeo.com HD channel. The movie was warmly met and watched by a great number of people, what gave me an opportunity to take part in another project in Syria in February this year. It was a documentary about the country made in 20 days. I was DOP in a second unit. The video you see I made together with my friend from my Syrian shot here, at home. I wish people remembered Syria a great and marvelous country like it really is! Thank you!

A Day in the Life of a Syrian Citizen Journalist
Hussein worked for his family's real estate company before the Syrian uprising became increasingly violent 8 months ago. Frequent bombings and gunfire between President Bashar al-Assad forces and Syrian rebels turned the country into one of the most dangerous place in the world. Most jobs in Syria, including Hussein's in Qusayr, disappeared.
Hussein, a pro-revolution activist who asked not to use his last name for fear of retribution, began taking pictures and videos of the violence and sending them to TV stations, free of charge. Blockades and attacks on foreign journalists in Syria has made real-time information about the conflict more and more scarce.
Broadcaster are increasingly relying on untrained citizen journalists like Hussein for insight into what's going on in the country.
In this eye-opening Storyhunter video, Hussein tells his story.

What Are We Doing in Syria?
With the probability of American intervention, Syria is everywhere in the news. On this week’s Moyers & Company, Phil Donahue, filling in for Bill Moyers, speaks with National Public Radio Middle East correspondent Deborah Amos and historian and Vietnam veteran Andrew Bacevich about the possible repercussions of our actions in the Middle East.
As he has done so often in recent years, Andrew Bacevich is asking the important questions about America’s role in the world and specifically why we should go into Syria. Is a military response justified and if we take action, where does it stop? A graduate of West Point and Vietnam veteran, he served for 23 years in the military before becoming a professor at Boston University. His new book, Breach of Trust, asks whether our reliance on a professional military rather than a citizen's army has lured us into a morass of endless war -- a trap that threatens not only our global reputation but democracy itself.
Among its deadly side effects, the war in Syria has created a refugee crisis beyond that country’s borders -- a “disgraceful humanitarian calamity” and “the great tragedy of this century,” according to the United Nations. Deborah Amos, a veteran National Public Radio correspondent, joins Donahue for a discussion about the human toll of the Syrian fighting, and the potential impact of millions of displaced people on the region.
