Ken Clay

Kenneth Earl Clay (born April 6, 1954) is a former Major League Baseball right-handed pitcher. Following his brief major league career, Clay had several run ins with the law. Most recently, he was sentenced to five years in jail for grand theft for creating a fake sales order at the Sarasota, Florida copy machine office in which he worked.

Drafted by the New York Yankees in the second round of the 1972 Major League Baseball Draft, he soon emerged as one of the top pitching prospects in the Yankees' organization. However, he never lived up to his potential, and was eventually traded away by the Yankees after three seasons in which he went 6-14 with a 4.72 earned run average. Clay's lack of success at the major league level is often cited as the catalyst for Yankees owner George Steinbrenner's desire to build his team through free agency and trades rather than relying upon his own farm system.

Early years

Clay was drafted in the second round of the 1972 draft upon graduation from E. C. Glass High School in Lynchburg, Virginia. He put up respectable numbers in his first five seasons in the Yankees' farm system, going 46-40 with a 3.64 ERA, but was wild. In 726 innings pitched, Clay walked 348 batters. He got it together in 1977; in ten starts with the International League's Syracuse Chiefs, Clay went 5-1 with a 1.68 ERA. He was called up to New York to relieve some of the burden on manager Billy Martin's overextended pitching staff.

Tokyo Ghoul

Tokyo Ghoul (Japanese: 東京喰種トーキョーグール, Hepburn: Tōkyō Gūru) is a Japanese manga series by Sui Ishida. It was serialized in Shueisha's seinen manga magazine Weekly Young Jump between September 2011 and September 2014 and has been collected in fourteen tankōbon volumes as of August 2014. A sequel titled Tokyo Ghoul:re began serialization in the same magazine in October 2014 and a prequel titled Tokyo Ghoul: JACK ran online on Jump Live.

A 12-episode anime television series adaptation by studio Pierrot aired on Tokyo MX between July and September 2014. A 12-episode second season, Tokyo Ghoul √A, which follows an original story, began airing on January 8, 2015 and concluded on March 26, 2015. In North America, Viz Media is publishing the manga while Funimation has licensed the anime series for streaming and home video distribution. The anime was obtained by Madman Entertainment for digital distribution in Australia and New Zealand.

Setting

Tokyo Ghoul is set in an alternate reality where ghouls, individuals who can only survive by eating human flesh, live among the normal humans in secret, hiding their true nature to evade pursuit from the authorities. Including enhanced speed and senses, a regular ghoul is several times stronger than a normal human and have at least one special predatory organ called a "Kagune", which they can manifest and use as a weapon during combat. Another distinctive trait of a ghoul is that when they are excited, the color of their sclera of both eyes turning black and their irises red, or in only one eye in the case of a half-ghoul. A half-ghoul can either be born naturally as a ghoul and a human's offspring, or artificially created by transplanting some ghoul organs into a human. In both cases, a half-ghoul is usually much stronger than a pure-blood ghoul.

Plot: A young orphan dancer, Blinkeyes, lives with her old uncle Dick. One night, on her way back from the theater, she is struck by a young rich man's car, Ken Clay. On her return home, she learns that Dick has a debt and neither her boyfriend the Basher, nor her friend flowerpots can help her find enough money. She decides to go to a bar and claim that she is for sale and whoever will put the most money will earn her hand in marriage. The winner happens to be Ken Clay. She reluctantly follows him. Betty's jealous boyfriend defies him and they give each other ten days to prepare for a fight. The Basher sneaks up on Ken and tries to surprise him before the time is up, but Ken happens to be a champion fighter and licks him. Blinkeyes grows to like Ken, so it is with sorrow that she finds out from a newspaper that he is to marry a young English millionaire. She seeks comforts with her friend Flowerpots, but Ken runs after her.
