You Fade To Light / edit 1
In 2009 rAndom International was commissioned by the Philips Lumiblade team to create an interactive light installation. You Fade To Light captures the unique qualities inherent to their revolutionary new OLEDs.
Lumiblade OLEDs are large area diffuse light sources made from extremely thin glass and feature a perfect mirror finish. OLEDs are the closest to the temperature of natural light.
"You Fade To Light" by rAndom International allows the audience to engage with the light itself intuitively and in a physical way. With custom software developed by designer Chris O'Shea, it has been built in London with several hundred unique OLEDs from the world’s first-ever production line for OLED lighting at Philips in Aachen, Germany.
A total of 8 unique You Fade To Light installations is available for commission from October 2009. For more information please contact subhas@cwgdesign.com

About Philips Lumiblade
Within the family of Royal Philips Electronics, Philips Lumiblade is OLED technology for lighting applications at the business sector Philips Lighting. According to the mission of Philips Lighting, the continuously growing team develops the new OLED technology for lighting as the next step forward in the evolution of Solid State Lighting (SSL) technology.
Research started back in 1991, as part of the development of OLED displays. Today Philips Lumiblade is leading in the development and industrialization process of OLEDs for lighting applications. Royal Philips Electronics invests in this technology, because OLEDs are expected to become an efficient light source, which suits for largescale production. Dubbed the “new lighting technology of the 21st century”, an OLED is essentially an extremely flat, lightweight panel. When switched off, the panel resembles a mirror. But as soon as a current is applied, the whole panel lights up, casting out a gentle, evenly dispersed glow of light. Today, Philips Lumiblade strives for customer-centric applications and thus invites creative professionals of all kinds to experiment with and experience OLEDs for themselves, so that they can get their creative juices flowing.
