Dick Shawn (December 1, 1923 – April 17, 1987) was an American actor and comedian.
Shawn was born as Richard Schulefand in Buffalo, New York and raised in adjacent Lackawanna. The best known roles of his career was that of Sylvester Marcus, son of Mrs. Marcus (Ethel Merman), in Stanley Kramer's It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World and Lorenzo St. DuBois/Adolf Hitler in the musical Springtime for Hitler, the play within the movie The Producers. He also provided the Snow Miser's voice in The Year Without a Santa Claus.
He had continued success with his stand-up comedy act that he successfully performed for over 35 years in nightclubs around the world. His award-winning one-man stage show, The Second Greatest Entertainer in the Whole Wide World, was sometimes performed with a unique opening. When the audience entered the theater, they saw a bare stage with a pile of bricks in stage center. When the play began, Shawn emerged from the pile of bricks. The startling effect of this required complete concentration and breath control because the slightest movement of the bricks could ruin the surprise appearance.
Judy Garland (June 10, 1922 – June 22, 1969) was an American actress, singer and vaudevillian. Renowned for her contralto voice, she attained international stardom through a career that spanned 45 of her 47 years as an actress in musical and dramatic roles, as a recording artist and on the concert stage. Respected for her versatility, she received a Juvenile Academy Award and won a Golden Globe Award, as well as Grammy Awards and a Special Tony Award. She was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress for her role in the remake of A Star is Born and for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in the 1961 film, Judgment at Nuremberg. At 39 years of age, she remains the youngest recipient of the Cecil B. DeMille Award for lifetime achievement in the motion picture industry.
After appearing in vaudeville with her two older sisters, Garland was signed to Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer as a teenager. There she made more than two dozen films, including nine with Mickey Rooney and the 1939 film with which she would be most identified, The Wizard of Oz. After 15 years, she was released from the studio but gained renewed success through record-breaking concert appearances, including a return to acting beginning with critically acclaimed performances.
Jerry Lewis (born March 16, 1926) is an American comedian, actor, singer, film producer, screenwriter and film director. He is best known for his slapstick humor in film, television, stage and radio. He was originally paired up with Dean Martin in 1946, forming the famed comedy team of Martin and Lewis.
In addition to the duo's popular nightclub work, they starred in a successful series of comedy films for Paramount Pictures. Lewis is also known for his charity fund-raising telethons and position as national chairman for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA).
Lewis has won several awards for lifetime achievements from The American Comedy Awards, The Golden Camera, Los Angeles Film Critics Association, and The Venice Film Festival, and he has two stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
In 2005, he received the Governors Award of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Board of Governors, which is the highest Emmy Award presented. On February 22, 2009, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences awarded Lewis the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award.
Connie Stevens (born August 8, 1938) is an American actress and singer, best known for her roles in the television series Hawaiian Eye and other TV and film work.
She was born Concetta Rosalie Ann Ingoglia in Brooklyn, New York, the daughter of Peter Ingoglia (known as musician Teddy Stevens) and singer Eleanor McGinley.
She adopted her father's stage name of Stevens as her own. Her parents were divorced and she lived with grandparents. and attended Catholic boarding schools. Actor John Megna was her half-brother. At the age of twelve, she witnessed a murder in Brooklyn and was sent to live in Boonville, Missouri, with family friends.
Coming from a musical family, she joined the singing group called The Fourmost, in which the other three vocalists — all males — went on to fame as The Lettermen. In 1953, Stevens moved to Los Angeles with her father. When she was 16, she replaced the alto in a singing group, The Three Debs. She enrolled at a professional school (Georgia Massey's School of Song and Dance in the San Fernando Valley), sang professionally and appeared in local repertory theater.
Susan Tyrrell (born March 18, 1945) is an American actress of Irish descent, known for her Academy Award-nominated performance as Oma in Fat City and her role as Ramona Rickettes in the film Cry-Baby.
Tyrrell was born in San Francisco, California. Her father was a top agent at one time with the William Morris Agency. She built up her résumé in summer stock and regional plays, usually cast in standard ingénue roles, although her theatre roles would grow larger once she came to New York City, where she appeared in The Rimers of Eldritch, Cactus Flower, King Lear, Camino Real, and The Time of Your Life, among others.
After her film debut in Shoot Out (1971), her performance as Oma in Fat City brought her a 1972 Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress.
Susan Tyrrell played Solly, a tough, foul-mouthed lesbian, in both 1980s cult-films Angel and Avenging Angel. In the first film she sparred with co-star Dick Shawn over a game of cribbage, and in the sequel, Solly acted as den-mother to a group of transvestite prostitutes and raised an abandoned baby. She appeared in the cult classic film Cry Baby in 1990 as Ramona Rickettes.
See the sun (See, see the sun)
See the sunshine (See the sun go down)
See the sun (See, see the sun)
See the sunshine (See the sun go down)
As I was younger than today
I liked to dream the clouds away
So I went lonesome down the pave
And left to see the sun go down
I did expect a lonely night
As you came walking by my side
And with the man of my delight
I lived to see the sun go down
Every morning when I wake up
You're out there wherever the feet will go
I pray for giving him back to me
Every day when the things are wrong
I won't be grieving, I will be strong, ohoho
I pray for giving him back to me
But there is a day
You are furling down the day
And you're giving me your hand
It's the end of a nightmare
See the sun (See, see the sun)
See the sunshine (See the sun go down)
See the sun (See, see the sun)
See the sunshine (See the sun go down)
That evening we, you will agree
Enjoyd your coming back to me
And as we walked along the sea
We lived to see the sun go down
Today a man came to my door
He said you won't be back no more
With tears I'm walking along the shore

refr.:

In the summernight love is all around
In the streaming light love is still be found
Leave you were to make it true
Better fall in love with you
When I write this still remembering
The days I spent with you
I feel lonely when I think
About the nights, I know what to do
Stayin' lonely isn't my way
So I'm gonna catch the bus
To be reaching you this evening
There'll be just the two of us
In the summernight love is all around
In the streaming light love is still be found
Leave you were to make it true
Better fall in love with you
When I write this still remembering
A holiday with you
But it's winter and you're far away
I don't know what to do
When the days are getting longer
And the sun is getting real
I'll be reaching you each evening
And I'll show you how I feel
In the summernight love is all around
In the streaming light love is still be found
Leave you were to make it true
Better fall in love with you
Wished that I could take you far away
To the sun, to the moon, to the stars one day
To a never ending love
'Cause we'll never get enough
In the summernight love is all around
In the streaming light love is still be found
Leave you were to make it true
Better fall in love with you
In the summernight love is all around
In the streaming light love is still be found
Leave you were to make it true
Goodbye, love
Goodbye, love
You got the stars to show the way
Across the foreign land
Need our music instruments
'Cause we're a jolly band
We know the bad times
With no-one there to see you
With no-one there to heal you
With anything but happiness
We know the good times
With everyone around you
But now that they have found you
I've got to go away
Now the cloudy days go by
The time has come to say goodbye
Goodbye, love
I'm going, goodbye, my love
There won't be summertime to spend
This lovesong needs a happy end
Goodbye, love
I'm going, goodbye, my love
Goodbye, love
Now the stars have shown the way
To glory and success
So we play our instruments
And join our happiness
We've known the bad times
When no-one came to see us
The dungeon didn't hear us
I'm glad to say they're gone, gone, gone
And in these good times
We've got to join the plasion
But after the sensation
I'm coming back to you
Now the cloudy days go by
The time has come to say goodbye
Goodbye, love
I'm going, goodbye, my love
There won't be summertime to spend
This lovesong needs a happy end
Goodbye, love
I'm going, goodbye, my love
Goodbye, love
The time has come to say goodbye
I'm sorry, love, I've got to say
Goodbye, love
The time has come to say goodbye
I'm sorry, love, I've got to say
Goodbye, love
Goodbye, love
Goodbye, love (Goodbye, love)
Goodbye, love (Goodbye, love)
Goodbye, love (Goodbye, love)
Goodbye, love (Goodbye, love, bye love, bye love)
Goodbye, love (Goodbye, love, bye love, bye love)
Goodbye, love (Goodbye, love, bye love, bye love)
Goodbye, love (Goodbye, love, bye love, bye love)
Goodbye, love (Goodbye, love, bye love, bye love)
If you're lonely
You just stutt it out
Feeling lonely
And you feel that
You've just gotta shout
Feeling lonely
Open your window
Unlock the door
Let in some sunshine
Lift your feet off the floor (The floor)
Fly away, fly away
Fly away, get your feet out of the clay
Fly away, fly away
Fly away, get your feet out of the clay
There's another day
If your loved one
Leaves you all alone
Feeling lonely
Don't you let it
Make you weap or moan
Feeling lonely
Open your window
Unlock the door
Let in some sunshine
Lift your feet off the floor (The floor)
Fly away, fly away
Fly away, get your feet out of the clay
Fly away, fly away
Fly away, get your feet out of the clay
There's another day
Fly away, fly away
Fly away, get your feet out of the clay
Fly away, fly away
Fly away, get your feet out of the clay
There's another day
Fly away, fly away
Fly away, get your feet out of the clay
Fly away, fly away
Fly away, get your feet out of the clay
There's another day
Fly away, fly away
Fly away, get your feet out of the clay
Fly away, fly away
Fly away, get your feet out of the clay
There's another day
Fly away, fly away
Fly away, get your feet out of the clay
Hear the music all around you
And decide of what it's found you
Don't keep faith in sweet temptation
To be happy and be free
When you're running from the bad times
From these crazy, lazy mad times
When you're searching for an answer
Keep remembering this song
Listen to a sound of freedom
To a sweet romantic song
Come on, let's make a song together
Clap your hands and sing along
Now let's bring the world together
Turn it upside down
This will make you feel much better
Turn it upside down
We will live in harmony (We live in harmony)
We'll be as happy as can be (Be as happy as can be)
So come together
Turn it upside down
Together, we can make it
Come together
Turn it upside down
In these days of no illusion
We are singing the solution
Now get rid of your confusion
And believe in harmony
When you're running from the bad times
From these crazy, lazy mad times
When you're searching for an answer
Keep remembering this song
Listen to a sound of freedom
To a sweet romantic song
Come on, let's make a song together
Clap your hands and sing along
Now let's bring the world together
Turn it upside down
This will make you feel much better
Turn it upside down
We will live in harmony (We live in harmony)
We'll be as happy as can be (Be as happy as can be)
So come together
Turn it upside down
Together, we can make it
Come together
Turn it upside down
Come together
Turn it upside down
Together, we can make it
Come together
There was a time that I knew you were mine,
But the dreams of today fly away, I'm alone again.
Where can I go? I don't know what to do without you.
I'm alone.
When I need love, I need you by my side,
You're that who treats me right,
Come on home, I'm alone again,
When can I say that the time slips away for the rest of
my life?
And it seems like yesterday
We were together everyday,
Now that time has passed away, and I'm alone.
And it seems like yesterday
We were in love everyday,
Now that time has passed away, I'm so alone.
Tears in my eyes I can see 'cause you cry,
And I see you and me in my dreams, I'm alone again.
When can I say that the time slips away for the rest of
my life?
And it seems like yesterday
We were together everyday,
Now that time has passed away, and I'm alone.
And it seems like yesterday
We were in love everyday,
Now that time has passed away, I'm so alone.
And it seems like yesterday
We were together everyday,
I just left Rose Valley
With your love in mind
And I left in Rose Valley
My only love behind
I found it hard there, one step being true
But now it's over and I'm feeling blue
And I'm tramping that lonesome road
Oh, love in Rose Valley
That night in Rose Valley
The love we had that night
Was not for long
Shivering in my shady coat
Hell knows the reason why
Sure it's hard to hit the road
But you won't see me cry
I found it hard there, one step being true
But now it's over and I'm feeling blue
And I'm tramping that lonesome road
Oh, love in Rose Valley
That night in Rose Valley
The love we had that night
Was not for long
Oh, love in Rose Valley
That night in Rose Valley
The love we had that night
The train that's going to Nashville, Tennessee
The town I always wanna be
At eight I'm gonna take my old guitar
And then you'll hear this song from me
Ohoho, Tennessee Town, Tennessee Town
Tennessee Town
I said-a hey, hey, I'll be around
In Tennessee Town tonight
Ohoho, Tennessee Town, Tennessee Town
Tennessee Town
I sing-a hey, hey, me and my band
In Tennessee Town tonight
At home we made a song that hit the charts
And now we travel through the land
We walk and talk like all we are the stars
And play our one hundred night stands
Ohoho, Tennessee Town, Tennessee Town
Tennessee Town
I said-a hey, hey, I'll be around
In Tennessee Town tonight
Ohoho, Tennessee Town, Tennessee Town
Tennessee Town
I sing-a hey, hey, me and my band
In Tennessee Town tonight
Tennessee Town, tonight I'm coming
Tennessee Town, I'll be around
Tennessee Town, that's why I'm singing
I'll be around in Tennessee Town
Tennessee Town, Tennessee Town
Tennessee Town!
Ohoho, Tennessee Town, Tennessee Town
Tennessee Town
I said-a hey, hey, I'll be around
In Tennessee Town tonight
Ohoho, Tennessee Town, Tennessee Town
Tennessee Town
I sing-a hey, hey, me and my band
In Tennessee Town tonight
Ohoho, Tennessee Town, Tennessee Town
Tennessee Town
I said-a hey, hey, I'll be around
In Tennessee Town tonight
Ohoho, Tennessee Town, Tennessee Town
Dear John, I write you this letter
Oh, please, won't you teach me to dance?
Dear John, the sooner the better
Oh, please, won't you give me a chance?
There is a show at the new disco where I wanna go
The lights are low while we can show all the tricks we
know
When we're dancing, disco dancing
When we're dancing, we dream away
Drea-a, drea-a, dream away
(John Travolta)
Won't you teach me to dance?
(John Travolta)
Won't you give me a chance?
Dear John, won't you listen?
Oh, please, won't you drop me a line?
Dear John, you know what I'm missing
Oh, please, give me a sign
There is a show at the new disco where I wanna go
The lights are low while we can show all the tricks we
know
When we're dancing, disco dancing
When we're dancing, we dream away
Drea-a, drea-a, dream away
(John Travolta)
Won't you teach me to dance?
(John Travolta)
Won't you give me a chance?
(John Travolta)
