Obama Mocks Accidental Truth By Republican Stutzman
"Indiana GOP Rep. Marlin Stutzman said he wanted respect in the budget standoff. Instead, he got ridicule from President Barack Obama and Senate Democrats.
Stutzman is being mocked for saying Republicans should get something from the budget standoff — but he doesn't know what that is. The tea party-backed lawmaker told the Washington Examiner on Wednesday: "We're not going to be disrespected. We have to get something out of this. And I don't know what that even is." The three-term congressman backtracked Thursday...".* The Young Turks host Cenk Uygur breaks it down.

Jon Stewart Takes Down Fox News and 'Republican Morons' for Downplaying Shutdown
October 1, 2013 - The government shutdown has affected a number of government programs and agencies, but Jon Stewart noticed Tuesday night that some conservatives and Fox News pundits still don't think it's a big deal. He called them out for downplaying how serious the shutdown is, even issuing a strong "Fu*k you!" to one Fox contributor.
Stewart mockingly praised the "few brave House Republican morons" willing to fight the good fight, which he dubbed the "March of Dumbs."
When some Fox pundits attempted to mock the warnings by saying the sun came up and it's all fine, Stewart said, "No one told you the sky would fall. No one told you the government shutdown had the same effect as an asteroid hitting the planet!"
Stewart also issued a hearty "fu*k you!" to Fox News' Todd Starnes for mocking how Democrats are probably racing to their underground bunkers with their potted food.
"I know that for you, potted meat and Tang is short for shit you wouldn't possibly imagine eating unless there was a catastrophe, but for the people actually affected by the government shutdown, it's the shit they eat that they can no longer afford."

Weird Sexist Remark From Republican To CNN Anchor
"Rep. Todd Rokita already had a hard enough job as it was going on CNN to try to blame the Democrats for a Republican-planned-and-instigated federal shutdown. Things only took a turn downhill when the anchor, Carol Costello, started arguing with him. The frustration caused Rokita to take a condescending tone, like he was talking to an errant teenager instead of a professional news anchor. Then he cracked: "Carol, you're beautiful, but you need to be honest as well."
Costello immediately ended the interview."* The Young Turks hosts Cenk Uygur and Ana Kasparian break it down.

Obamacare Polls Show Why Ted Cruz Is Wrong
In his marathon speech last week, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) repeatedly invoked the will of "the American people" in an effort to derail the Affordable Care Act. If only his colleagues would "listen to the American people," Cruz said, "the vote would be 100 to 0 to defund Obamacare."
Five recent surveys flatly contradict that assertion. The surveys show that the percentage of Americans who want to defund Obamacare -- ranging from 37 to 39 percent -- falls well short of a majority, while far more Americans -- between 42 and 56 percent -- oppose eliminating its funding.
And none of these questions even raised the possibility of a government shutdown or default on the national debt.

Passengers Chastise Marco Rubio About Shutdown On Flight From Miami
Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) learned just how unpopular Congress is on Monday morning during his flight from Miami to Washington, D.C. From the Miami Herald:
Passenger after passenger recognized Rubio and gave him an earful about the looming federal government shutdown being precipitated by Congress, a source on the flight tells us.
Except Rubio sought to downplay the issue and sympathize with constituents.
At one point, a flight attendant asked him if the partial government shutdown would, in fact, begin at midnight.
Rubio responded by calling the likely impasse "not really a shutdown, more of a slowdown -- but not a good way to do business."

Republican Senator Admits Defunding Obamacare Didn't Work
"Sen. Kelly Ayotte (R-N.H.) delivered a "reality check" to her GOP colleagues, telling them that shutting down the government to defund ObamaCare hasn't worked. "It's time for a reality check: Defunding ObamaCare did not work as a strategy, so let's work together to find common ground," Ayotte said Friday. Lawmakers are still at an impasse on how to pass a continuing resolution (CR) to fund the government. House Republicans have tried to use the funding measure to defund and repeal parts of ObamaCare, but Senate Democrats have said the House needs to pass a "clean" CR without any riders...".*Cenk Uygur, Adam Green (PCCC), Dave Rubin (The Rubin Report), and break it down on The Young Turks.

"You Don't Own Me" PSA
Women constitute more than half of the population. In 2008, 60% of voters were women. It is estimated that 10 million more women than men will vote in this election. Despite this, women make up only 16% of Congress. Women earn only 70 cents to each dollar men make. Women of color and undocumented women make less than white citizens. Mitt Romney and the Republican Party are determined to overturn Roe V. Wade. Romney has not supported equal pay for women (The Lily Ledbetter Fair Pay Act). Romney has vowed to defund Planned Parenthood. Romney has vowed to repeal the Affordable Care Act. Romney doesn't want health care to cover birth control. Romney says same sex marriage should be banned with a Constitutional Amendment.
Women, let's rise up. Our vote alone can win this election. A vote for Obama is a vote for your health and your right to choose. It is a vote for equal pay and equal rights. A vote for Obama is a vote for our families. It is a vote to marry who you choose. It's a vote to start a family when you choose. A vote for Obama says that we won't stand for violence against women and that rape is rape. Our vote ensures that our daughters will grow up with the same rights that we've had. A vote for Obama sends a message: This war on women must end. We will not go backwards.
This election is shockingly close. Our safety is at stake. Our silence is consent and our vote is our voice. Let’s get active. Let’s get out every vote we can. Let’s make this election a mandate. A mandate to finally ensure women the respect, dignity and equality we all deserve! This is now. This is our call to action. Once and for all, let's take back the power that is so inherently and naturally ours!

Grand Old Party
From the catalogue (available at http://mepler.com)
Dear Voter,
Whether you’re Democrat or Republican, you’ve probably grown
weary of the endless circus that is the electoral process. It is painful.
But it shouldn’t be that way. As a member of a free democratic state
you should feel exhilarating pleasure when exercising your right to
choose your leader.
Grand Old Party demonstrates that as a people united, our opinion
has real volume. When we approve of a candidate, they swell with
power. When we deem them unworthy, they are diminished and left
hanging in the wind. We guard the gate! It opens and closes at our
will. How wide is up to us.
In an age of information, we rely on hard facts. Each of the shapes
you see here come directly from poll data collected by Gallup. This
data reects approval ratings for each GOP candidate among registered
Republican voters from December 10, 2011 to April 1, 2012.
Each shape’s girth is a reflection of popularity while their height is a
reflection of time.
The contours of these delightful shapes conjure up the waves of
amber grain and those lapping at the rim of our great nation spanning
from sea to shining sea. As the battle for the Presidency rails
on, we must remember that Americans may may have achieved
freedom through war, but they are also a people of love. After all, in
the end all we have is each other.
