Leonidas Counter-Electronics System – Generation 3
Introducing: Epirus' next-generation high-power microwave Leonidas system.
This marks the third Leonidas system developed, rigorously tested and operationally validated by Epirus in under two years.
The system has 2x higher power than the previous generation – thanks to our proprietary SmartPower technology platforms that lies under the hood of Leonidas. Other features include a gimbal for 360 degree coverage and a fully ruggedized and hardened system to withstand the rigors of a real-world combat environment.
This next-generation Leonidas unit just got back from the U.S. Department of Defense’s HPM counter-UAS technology demonstration, where it successfully took down a wide range of UAS targets.

History of The Kingdom of Epirus
Epirus, rooted in the Neolithic era, reveals Mycenaean ties through shared burial practices and artifacts. Mycenaean influences extend to vital religious sites like the Necromanteion of Acheron, emphasizing Epirus' integration into ancient Greece.
Dorians' late 2nd millennium BC invasion forced Epirotes south, forming distinct tribes—Chaonians, Molossians, Thesprotians—hindering a unified regional name. "Epirus" emerged in the 6th century BC, denoting identity and Greek prominence.
The Molossian Aeacidae dynasty (370 BC onward) centralized Epirus, aligning with Macedon. Olympias' marriage to Philip II solidified ties. Alexander the Molossian's rule saw Epirus' transformation but ended at the Battle of Pandosia in 331 BC.
Pyrrhus, in 295 BC, led Epirus into Italy, achieving a Pyrrhic vic...

Dorians' late 2nd millennium BC invasion forced Epirotes south, forming distinct tribes—Chaonians, Molossians, Thesprotians—hindering a unified regional name. "Epirus" emerged in the 6th century BC, denoting identity and Greek prominence.
The Molossian Aeacidae dynasty (370 BC onward) centralized Epirus, aligning with Macedon. Olympias' marriage to Philip II solidified ties. Alexander the Molossian's rule saw Epirus' transformation but ended at the Battle of Pandosia in 331 BC.
Pyrrhus, in 295 BC, led Epirus into Italy, achieving a Pyrrhic victory at Heraclea (280 BC). Despite successes in Sicily, his Italian campaign faltered at Beneventum (275 BC), resulting in losses.
By 233 BC, the Aeacid dynasty ended, and Epirus became a federal republic. The Epirote League formed, but Roman threats led to internal divisions. The Third Macedonian War (171–168 BC) saw Molossia enslaved in 167 BC, marking Epirus' decline.
In conclusion, Epirus, with its Neolithic roots, Mycenaean ties, and diverse history, epitomizes early Greek civilization. Tribal divisions, Molossian centralization, and Roman encounters shape its captivating narrative, making Epirus a compelling study of ancient Greece's complexities.

Our adversaries hope to overwhelm our traditional kinetic air defense systems using dozens, or hundreds of attritable unmanned aerial systems, or Drones. The Epirus Leonidas family of long-pulse high-power microwave (HPM) products utilizes solid-state, software-defined HPM technology to enable unmatched counter-electronics effects. Multiple systems can work together to create a layered defense posture, integrating into a larger ‘system-of-systems’ including other forms of kinetic and non-kinetic air defense.

For the ultimate viewing experience, this 🎦 movie is best enjoyed with your 🎧 headphones ON!
Have you ever experienced time and place becoming one? You will in Epirus. The more you explore it, the more you’ll want to travel slower and deeper. You’ll find rugged beauty unfolding before you on an epic scale and traditions (like the UNESCO-protected Polyphonic songs of Epirus) echoing across the sweeping valleys and through deep gorges... eternal, unchanging and preserved from generation to generation.
This is what inspired us about Epirus. We see it as a shared responsibility to celebrate it and preserve it at the same time.
We hope we’ve done it the justice it deserves. 🌱

✍ Epirus has secrets that have lasted forever. Either she will whisper them
or she will shout them.
Here, no matter how fast you go, the place has its own time.
It's in your hands to freeze it
Or let it flow slowly
Or let go and let it carry you away!
Just do me a favour...
Tread lightly for here the earth is full of gifts!
Here… They don't say ‘our region’.
They say ‘our place’.
The deeper you understand Epirus, the more you understand the continuity of life and its rugged, changing beauty …
that reminds us
how lucky we are to be alive!

Unearthing the little-known ancient theatres of Greece's Epirus region
Greece's Epirus region hosts 5 of the country's most important ancient theatres. Some famous, but others little-known. Could this EU project unearth these architectural treasures and put them centre stage once again?

How is Greece's Epirus region building a future from its past?
"The work is done in much the same way as in antiquity. We put a lot of emphasis on the hands of our sculptors. We learn from them and they learn from us. I think we have created a new technical school. This is a part of the second phase of the program of the ancient theatres."

Kokoris and Kipoi Bridges in Epirus Region | Travel Guide
Click HD for a better quality :)
Thank you for watching! I hope you had fun! 😍
KOKORI BRIDGE
One of the older bridges throughout the region is this beautiful stone bridge built in part by Gregoris Kokoris. It was first built in 1750 with money given by Noutsou Kondodimou, (the bridge is also referred to as Kondodimos Bridge). Unfortunately, it collapsed several times and had to be rebuilt. Not to worry, the current example is sturdy and lies between the villages of Kipi, Koukouli and Dilofo.

Efi Exarchou, Environmental Engineer and owner of Konitsa Mountain Hotel, shares her generational passion for the unique region. Kastanea is a perfect example of how architecture, nature and the environment can work together in harmony.
All the homes in the region are named after the women in the family.

Lygia Greece - Preveza Region, Epirus
Lygia is a small, peaceful fishing village on the shores of the Ionian Sea in Northwestern Greece, just across the island of Paxi. The beaches are sandy, mixed with gravel. There are a few restaurants and a fantastic fish tavern near the harbour. The 3,5 km long sandy beach of Vrachos-Loutsa, with cafes, restaurants, and mini-markets, is within walking distance. Spectacular sunsets can be seen from every angle in this village. Equally beautiful are the usually crystal clear star-filled nights that can be enjoyed from the beach. The crystal clear blue waters are full of beautiful volcanic reefs and sea life, which makes it ideal for swimming and snorkelling. Due to its location, winds are often present here, and big waves may appear, but this is the most suitable place in the Preveza region...

_______________________________________________
✍ Epirus has secrets that have lasted forever. Either she will whisper them
or she will shout them.
Here, no matter how fast you go, the place has its own time.
It's in your hands to freeze it
Or let it flow slowly
Or let go and let it carry you away!
Just do me a favour...
Tread lightly for here the earth is full of gifts!
Here… They don't say ‘our region’.
They say ‘our place’.
The deeper you understand Epirus, the more you understand the continuity of life and its rugged, changing beauty …
that reminds us
how lucky we are to be alive!

This report from the town of KASTANEA, known for hand built limestone homes and bridges, and Women Empowerment.
Efi Exarchou, Environmental Engineer and owner of Konitsa Mountain Hotel, shares her generational passion for the unique region. Kastanea is a perfect example of how architecture, nature and the environment can work together in harmony.
All the homes in the region are named after the women in the family.
Also we visit Cafe Soiree, a warm, inviting local cafe owned and operated by former professional ballerina, Cynthia Fridas Doukas.
#Kastanea is also protected by #unesco #unescoworldheritagesites

Due to its location, winds are often present here, and big waves may appear, but this is the most suitable place in the Preveza region if you want privacy and isolation. The picturesque towns of Parga and Preveza, as well as a plethora of remarkable cultural and archaeological sites, are within half an hour's drive.

024: Pyrrhus - The World of Epirus & the Early Years
In the first of a multi-part series on the life of Pyrrhus, the Molossian King of Epirus, we chronicle the transformation of the fragmented and backwater region of Epirus into a major power in the Balkans and Greek Peninsula. We then follow the initial years of Pyrrhus' career amidst the Wars of the Diadochi, being shuffled from court to court, before finally recovering his kingdom.

10 Legendary Weapons of Greek Mythology | SymbolSage
Greek mythology is the home of many fantastic and magical weapons used by the Greek heroes, demi-gods, gods, and Titans. Yet, for some reason, Greek myths aren’t usually associated with their heroes’ weapons as much as say the Norse myths.
One reason for that might be that, while the ancient Greeks were a war-like culture, they aren’t really been remembered as such in modern days. Another factor might be that many of the Greek gods’ and heroes’ weapons don’t really have names – they are just known as Poseidon’s Trident, Apollo’s bow, and so on.

This is episode 2 from Chapter 4 of our series! It deals with the Pyrrhic War, where Pyrrhus of Epirus, landed in Italy to fight both the Romans and Carthaginians.
The Pyrrhic War (280–275 BC) was largely fought between the Roman Republic and Pyrrhus, the king of Epirus, who had been asked by the people of the Greek city of Tarentum in southern Italy to help them in their war against the Romans.
A skilled commander, with a strong army fortified by war elephants (which the Romans were not experienced in facing), Pyrrhus enjoyed initial success against the Roman legions, but suffered heavy losses even in these victories. Plutarch wrote that Pyrrhus said after the second battle of the war, "If we are victorious in one more battle with the Romans, we shall be utterly ruined." He could not ca...

Plutarch wrote that Pyrrhus said after the second battle of the war, "If we are victorious in one more battle with the Romans, we shall be utterly ruined." He could not call up more men from home and his allies in Italy were becoming indifferent. The Romans, by contrast, had a very large pool of military manpower and could replenish their legions even if their forces were depleted in many battles. This has led to the expression "Pyrrhic victory", a term for a victory that inflicts losses the victor cannot afford in the long term.
Worn down by the battles against Rome, Pyrrhus moved his army to Sicily to war against the Carthaginians instead. After several years of campaigning there (278–275 BC), he returned to Italy in 275 BC, where the last battle of the war was fought, ending in Roman victory. Following this, Pyrrhus returned to Epirus, ending the war. Three years later, in 272 BC, the Romans captured Tarentum.
The Pyrrhic War was the first time that Rome confronted the professional mercenary armies of the Hellenistic states of the eastern Mediterranean. Rome's victory drew the attention of these states to the emerging power of Rome. Ptolemy II, the king of Egypt, established diplomatic relations with Rome. After the war, Rome asserted its hegemony over southern Italy.

⭕ [𝐒𝐞𝐭 𝐒𝐮𝐛𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝗢𝗡 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐢𝐧-𝐬𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧] ⭕
Hermes, in his guise as guide of the dead, and Charon would lead the shades down the Acheron River and the Lake Acherousian to Hades. Nowadays, only the call of the wild inhabits the valley, inviting you to come river trekking down the Acheron. You start at the village of Glyki, about 40km from Igoumenitsa. The landscape in uniquely charged and the experience unforgettable.
Angelina Jolie was here a couple of years ago and she just knows the best places to visit!
I urge you to start walking inside the river as far as you can. Most people do not walk more than 500 meters. Yet, the more you walk where no one else follows, the more you feel a part of the landscape; a unique feeling that you are somehow completing the picture of this bracing wilderness, just you alone and the water. By turns, its currents are deep and fast, and then shallow and soothing; they grab you for a vigorous tussle with the elements or lead you silently to beautiful pools they have sculpted out of the river banks. Tiny fish scuttle around your feet … so far no snakes! After a while you get used to the cold and you accept the temperature as if it were normal.
You’ll open up to a sensation of absolute freedom. You’ll while away the hours in the blissful company of friends. They’ll be time also for a bite to eat in a couple of handily placed taverns or maybe even a go at rafting- now it’s your turn to be the master of these dark waters!
Acheron is indeed the heaven on earth
When you look back on your experience of the Acheron, peace and tranquility will flood your soul and you’ll be borne on its generous whirling current all over again. This will be the moment when you realize that no matter how darkly tarnished by the brush of mythology, here is a place that in truth is a little piece of heaven on earth. Damned no longer… except for the damned fine job that nature has done in putting the record straight!
Acheron River in Parga, Epirus: The springs of Acheron River is an area of outstanding natural beauty located at the border of Thesprotia and Preveza, close to the villages of Kanalaki and Glyki. Apart from the natural beauty, the springs of Acheron is known worldwide for its mythological contents. In ancient Greek mythology, Acheron was one of the five rivers of the Greek underworld.
According to the tradition, Zeus was devastated when the Titans drunk from the water and then he condemned the river to remain eternally under the earth while its water became darker. Acheron River is located 25km from Parga, in a beautiful surrounding with rich vegetation and crystalline waters which comprise a unique natural landscape. In many parts of the river where the water flow is normal, there are lakes and water pits which have the ideal living conditions for many amphibians and fish. In other locations, the river flows impetuously through steep and precipitate high cliffs. In the rocky side slopes of Acheron, there are many birds of prey that nest in the forest slopes of the canyon.
Acheron River comprises a fantastic short trip for its magnificent transparent water and the surrounding rocky landscape. It is actually one of the least known places in Parga thus it retains its unspoiled natural beauty and secret energy. It flows from the mountains of Souli Epirus and after a long way, it reaches the Ionian Sea in Ammoudia beach.
Just a few km away from the sea, there is a forest with plants growing in the water, looking almost exotic due to their weird shape. After you cross the forest, you will see the edge of the river, reaching the imposing roman bridge, an ideal place for a picnic. There is no doubt that Acheron is a magnificent location with white rocks reflecting in the blue-green water. Today, Acheron River is an ecosystem that is recognized and a protected area by the Natura 2000 Network.
AKHERON (Acheron) was the god of the underworld river and lake of pain. The daimon Kharon (Charon) ferried the souls of the dead across its dark waters in his skiff.
