The Babe Ruth Story is a 1948 baseball film biography of Babe Ruth, the famed New York Yankees slugger. It stars William Bendix (New York Yankee batboy in the 1920s) as the ballplayer and Claire Trevor as his wife. It was rush released to news of Ruth's declining health, and makes no mention whatsoever of Ruth's first wife, Helen. Critics panned the film's heavy-handedness and direction, and it is said by many to be one of the worst films ever made.
The Babe is a 1992 biographical drama film about the life of famed baseball player Babe Ruth, who is portrayed by John Goodman.
The story begins in 1902 in Baltimore, Maryland, where a seven-year-old Babe Ruth, troubled and not-so disciplined, is sent to the St. Mary's Industrial School for Boys, a reformatory and orphanage. Ruth is sent by his father, George Herman Ruth Sr. (Bob Swan), who cannot handle raising the boy. At the school, Ruth is schooled by Catholic missionaries and is made fun of by other children, because of his large size. Brother Matthias Boutlier (James Cromwell), the Head of Discipline at St. Mary's, first introduces Ruth to the game of baseball. During a session of batting practice, Ruth hits several towering home runs off of Matthias, who is pitching. Brother Matthias and others are stunned by Ruth's amazing power to drive the ball.
George Herman "Babe" Ruth, Jr. (February 6, 1895 – August 16, 1948) was an American professional baseball player whose career in Major League Baseball (MLB) spanned 22 seasons, from 1914 through 1935. Nicknamed "The Bambino" and "The Sultan of Swat", he began his MLB career as a stellar left-handed pitcher for the Boston Red Sox, but achieved his greatest fame as a slugging outfielder for the New York Yankees. Ruth established many MLB batting (and some pitching) records, including career home runs (714), runs batted in (RBIs) (2,213), bases on balls (2,062), slugging percentage (.690), and on-base plus slugging (OPS) (1.164); the latter two still stand today. Ruth is regarded as one of the greatest sports heroes in American culture and is considered by many to be the greatest baseball player of all time. He was one of the first five inductees into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1936.
At age seven, Ruth was sent to St. Mary's Industrial School for Boys, a reformatory where he learned life lessons and baseball skills from Brother Matthias Boutlier of the Christian Brothers, the school's disciplinarian and a capable baseball player. In 1914, Ruth was signed to play minor-league baseball for the Baltimore Orioles but was soon sold to the Red Sox. By 1916, he had built a reputation as an outstanding pitcher who sometimes hit long home runs, a feat unusual for any player in the pre-1920 dead-ball era. Although Ruth twice won 23 games in a season as a pitcher and was a member of three World Series championship teams with Boston, he wanted to play every day and was allowed to convert to an outfielder. With regular playing time, he broke the MLB single-season home run record in 1919.
Babe Ruth are a rock music group, primarily active through the 1970s, from Hatfield, Hertfordshire, England. Their characteristically 'heavy' sound is marked by powerful vocals from Janita (Jenny) Haan and full arrangements by Alan Shacklock. They are acknowledged as having more commercial success in North America than in their home country.
A predecessor of the group, called Shacklock after guitarist Alan Shacklock, was formed in 1970. Members included Janita Haan and Dave Hewitt, with Dave Punshon and Dick Powell later joining. The first release was their single "Wells Fargo"; their first album, First Base, went gold in Canada. In 1973, Ed Spevock replaced Powell and Chris Holmes replaced Punshon on the second album. In 1975, Steve Gurl, keyboardist from Glenn Cornick's Wild Turkey replaced Holmes for the third album. The same year, Shacklock left the band to become a record producer and Bernie Marsden (Wild Turkey) joined the team for the fourth album. After this, Haan and Hewitt left.
Babe Ruth (1895–1948) was an American baseball outfielder and pitcher who played 21 seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB), from 1914 to 1935.

Have you all got your tickets
Or did you get them all for free
Have you really come to see the show
Have you really come to see me
Or is it really another
Sunday night in town
Another chance to meet the clique
That always gathers round
I look out to the left of the stage
At some people sittin' down
I know they paid for tickets
'cause they came here on the underground
Guitar Riff
There tryin' to make me
Something I don't wanna be
I only wanna sing my songs
the way it comes naturally
Now they've givin' me a light
These things upon the stage
I don't remember askin' for it
But I got them all the same
Oh oh
Welcome to the show
Don't forget to listen to my song
just before you go
Woow woow
Welcome to the show
Don't forget to listen to my song
just before you go
Guitar Riff Violins etc.
Take a look at the posters
on your way into the gig
And remember who you're here for
And the next thing to be big
And if I should be lucky
And be a great big star
All my old friends
Can turn to me and say
Remember who we are
So help yourself
To food and drink
That they laid on for me
Don't you worry about
A thing my friend
I'm off home to watch TV
Woow woow
Welcome to the show
Don't forget to listen to my song
Just before you go
Ohh ohh
Welcome to the show
Don't forget to listen to my song
Just before you go
Violins...
Welcome to the show
And don't forget to listen to my song
Woow woow
Welcome to the show
Don't forget to listen to my song
