Whiskeytown was an alternative country band formed in 1994 from Raleigh, North Carolina, USA. Fronted by Ryan Adams, the group included members Caitlin Cary, Phil Wandscher, Eric "Skillet" Gilmore, and Mike Daly. They disbanded in 2000 with Adams leaving to pursue his solo career. Whiskeytown gradually expanded its sound outside the confines of alternative country while still maintaining its alternative roots.
The band only released three albums, yet none of the albums feature a consistent lineup, with only Adams and Cary remaining constants.
Whiskeytown began in 1994 in Raleigh, North Carolina. After performing punk rock with a band called The Patty Duke Syndrome, Adams found inspiration in the country-rock of Gram Parsons, and started a band with violinist Caitlin Cary, drummer Eric "Skillet" Gilmore, bassist Steve Grothman and guitarist Phil Wandscher.
Faithless Street, released on Mood Food Records in 1996, established the band as one of the genre's leaders, thanks to glowing reviews in publications such as No Depression, and helped the band score a major-label record deal with the Geffen Records imprint Outpost.
Ryan Adams (born David Ryan Adams; November 5, 1974) is an American singer-songwriter, musician, producer, poet and painter. He is best known for his prolific solo career, and as a former member of alternative country band Whiskeytown, with whom he recorded three studio albums. In 2000, Adams left Whiskeytown and released his first solo album, Heartbreaker, to critical acclaim. The album was nominated for the Shortlist Music Prize. In 2001, Adams released the UK certified-gold Gold, which included the hit single, "New York, New York".
He released five albums with the rock band The Cardinals and in 2009 he married singer-songwriter and actress Mandy Moore. Adams left The Cardinals and announced that he was taking a break from music. He resumed performing in October 2010 and released his thirteenth studio album, Ashes & Fire, on October 11, 2011. The album peaked at No. 7 on the Billboard 200. In September 2014, Adams released his fourteenth album Ryan Adams on his PAX AM label.
Adams has also produced albums for Willie Nelson, Jesse Malin, Jenny Lewis, and Fall Out Boy, and he has collaborated with Counting Crows, Weezer, Norah Jones, America, Minnie Driver, Cowboy Junkies, Leona Naess, Toots and the Maytals, Beth Orton and Krista Polvere. He has written Infinity Blues, a book of poems, and Hello Sunshine, a collection of poems and short stories.
St. Louis (/seɪnt ˈluːɪs/ or /sənt ˈluːɪs/) is a city and port in the U.S. state of Missouri. The city developed along the western bank of the Mississippi River, which forms Missouri's border with Illinois. In 2010, St. Louis had a population of 319,294; a 2014 estimate put the population at 317,419, making it the 60th-most populous U.S. city and the second-largest city in the state in terms of city proper population. The St. Louis metropolitan area includes the city as well as nearby areas in Missouri and Illinois; with an estimated population of 2,905,893, it is the largest in Missouri and one of the largest in the United States. St. Louis was founded in 1764 by Pierre Laclède and Auguste Chouteau and named after Louis IX of France. Claimed first by the French, who settled mostly east of the Mississippi River, the region in which the city stands was ceded to Spain following France's defeat in the Seven Years' War. Its territory east of the Mississippi was ceded to the Kingdom of Great Britain, the victor. The area of present-day Missouri was part of Spanish Louisiana from 1762 until 1803.

This is a Gram Parsons song... I have removed comment/rating section because last time I put it up I had to deal with a lot of BS- sorry but I prefer not to have hassles like this. Ryan Adams is a young musician and attracts a crowd that may still be a bit more in the self-absorbed stages of life.
From the bootleg. I own nothing.
This is the original studio version.

Whiskeytown with Ryan Adams performs one of my favourite cover versions of Fleetwood Mac's ‘Dreams’ during a live session at the World Cafe in 1997. A studio version of the song appears on their second album, ‘Strangers Almanac (deluxe edition)’, but this rare live version is just something beautiful. From my master tape, not great quality but clear. I attempted to EQ a bit and boosted levels with Cool Edit. Sorely lacking on the bottom end, though. I only traded this to two people back in the day, so it's not widely circulated. Sound quality aside, this was a GREAT show and the band was completely into it. Lineup at this point was Ryan/ Caitlin/ Skillet/ Mike/ Ed/ Jenni. I hope you enjoy it. Sorry for the boring pic, I tried to find a decent one with all the same players, but ended up using a pic of the venue instead. Set list: Today 16 Days Yesterday's News Excuse Me While I Break... Midway Park Sirens Not Home Anymore Breathe Everything I do (cuts in) Waiting To Derail Avenues The Battle Houses On The Hill Losering (cuts out)
Whiskeytown "Strangers Almanac" as performed by Jeff Mullins and Ryan Kennemur; performed live and recorded in one take on October 17, 2015 at Raleigh's Berkeley Cafe. As with Jeff's other "one take albums," this is meant as a tribute and a thank you to the artists. Rather than record this one at home, we thought it would be fun to perform it in public. Ryan and I performed under the name Yesterday's News. The event was presented by Guitartown and the Berkeley Cafe. For more information on Guitartown, check out the Facebook group "Guitartown People." And if you're in central NC, visit the Berkeley Cafe in downtown Raleigh for great food, drinks, and free music. Jeff Mullins is a North Carolina-based musician who also plays music with Adam Lane. http://www.reverbnation.com/jeffmullins ...

With a new solo album about to be released, we decided to revisit where it all started for Ryan Adams with the 1995 debut release Faithless Street from his band Whiskeytown. Steeped in the alternative country that rose to prominence thanks to bands like Uncle Tupelo and The Jayhawks, there is plenty to like about a band forging its own path while still staying ground in traditional country rhythms and themes. Our discussion is occasionally derailed by Ryan Adams “the personality” as much as the singer and songwriter, and the end result is clashing viewpoints on this record. One of thought this was worthy album start to finish. Who didn’t. Tune in to find out. RYAN ADAMS wtf podcast RYAN ADAMS Interview RYAN ADAMS marc maron 2017 Singer-songwriter Ryan Adams knows there's a stark difference between the way he views the work throughout his career and the popular perception of it. Whether it's his years in Whiskeytown or his song New York, New York becoming a rallying cry after 9-11, Ryan tells Marc why history has created a different narrative of these events than what he experienced at the time and how that guides what he's doing today.

You feel sad 'cause I got mad
And I'm sorry, I'm sorry
Things I said made things seem bad
But don't worry
'Cause it's gonna be alright now
It'll be okay
You know I just don't think
Before I speak
I've been looking for to find
Something to believe in my mind
And I thought it was you
All this time since you've been mine
I've been angry, so angry
Made it known I could make it alone
But I'm changing
And I'm gonna be alright now
Be okay
You know I just woke up
And I see the way
Don't give up on me so fast
I see it's me that's wrong at last
Give me another chance
It's so hard just to stay alive each day
I really can't go on this way, oh no, oh no
Hey, hey
Hey, hey
Hey, hey
Don't give up on me so fast
I see it's the end, it's wrong at last
