Iran news in brief, 1 October 2016 Regime lawmaker: Increased sale of children in Iran is result of poverty NCRI - Mohammad Esmaeil Saeidi, a member of the Iranian regime’s Majlis (Parliament), has acknowledged that the sale of children continues in Iran. In an interview with state-run ‘Young Journalists Club’ news agency on Thursday September 29, this member of the regime’s parliament from Tabriz (Western Iran) stated that sale of children is one of the dilemmas that has been added to the list of social harms in the country. He added: “Increased sale of children is the result of poverty and unemployment, and the officials are only watching these problems instead of trying to resolve them and manage the crisis.” He added: “When the foundation of the family is affected with improper use of the internet, poverty, unemployment, divorce, addiction, and lack of job security, sale of children and parents’ lack of affection doesn’t sound strange.” Saeidi acknowledged that the officials are apathetic regarding these issues and added: “Still, the officials have not taken an effective measure to tackle these social harms whereas the continuation of the current situation will definitely lead to total destruction of the family foundation and even more crisis.” Revolutionary Guard commanders and members of Iranian regime’s parliament react to The UN Convention on Rights of the Child: The Revolutionary Guard’s General “Naghdi” along with some members of Iranian regime’s parliament have announced their opposition to the bill to join the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, stating that joining this convention will lead to closure of the Student Basij (paramilitary force). Naghdi stated that joining the Convention on the Rights of the Child is “totally irrational” and that “it’s not going to happen.” He added: “This is by no means possible that we ask millions of young people who are ready and organized to defend their country, to put their guns down and put their trainings away and go sit at their houses. This is a retreat and our Basijies wil never retreat.” To prepare the ground for another round of killing the children, some members of regime’s parliament, have announced their opposition to the bill, saying that it will restrain the activities of the Student Basij. Parents protest misuse of their children by Iran regime during Rouhani’s visit to Qazvin Parents of elementary school students in Qazvin, northern Iran, protested against the compulsory use of their children to welcome the Iranian regime’s President Hassan Rouhani for his official regional visit. According to the state-run news agency, on the eve of the trip to Qazvin Province by the mullahs’ president, on September 27, the elementary school students in the province, even first-graders, were obliged to come with their parents to greet Rouhani. While expressing their strong objections, parents of a student told the agency: “How can elementary school children welcome the president. If an incident occurs, who is responsible for our children?” Another student's parents said: “The Department of Education is forcing the students to take part in the welcome ceremony; consent sheets were distributed among the families and those who did not sign the form are facing disciplinary action and the threat of score deductions in their children’s record.” News published in social media and the Telegram network indicate that the children were used to distribute Rouhani’s posters on the streets of Qazvin which caused grave concerns among the parents due to crowded streets and high traffic. In the meantime, young people used the opportunity to protest and express their objections along the Rouhani’s travel route on the streets by holding up handwritten placards and leaflets against him and tearing up pictures of Rouhani and other officials of the regime.
