Thing Called Love may refer to:
This Thing Called Love is the title of the following movies:
This Thing Called Love is a 1929 American romantic comedy film starring Edmund Lowe, Constance Bennett, Ruth Taylor, Roscoe Karns, ZaSu Pitts, and Jean Harlow. Harlow appears in a cameo role, as she was not yet famous. The film is based on the play This Thing Called Love, a Comedy in Three Acts, by Edwin J. Burke.
This Thing Called Love was recorded in RCA Photophone and featured a two-tone Technicolor sequence. No complete copy of this movie survives, only the Technicolor sequence.
A man returns from a trip to Peru rich and looking for a wife. While still single he has a real estate agent show him a house or two. The agent invites him to dinner then him (the agent) and his wife start bickering, causing the poor fellow to rethink marriage over. He decides he wants to share his home with someone so he has his agent's sister-in-law move in. Later on they both fell in love.
This Thing Called Love is a 1940 romantic comedy film starring Rosalind Russell and Melvyn Douglas as newlyweds with an odd arrangement: the wife insists on not sleeping together for a trial period. This is the second film adaptation of the play of the same name by Edwin Burke: the 1929 version, which shares the same title, is believed to be lost.
This film was condemned by the Catholic Legion of Decency as "contrary to the Christian concept of marriage".
What Is This? is an album by rock band What Is This?, released in 1985. The album was produced by Todd Rundgren, who also played Fairlight Synthesizer on it. A cover version of the track Chasing Your Ghost is featured on the so-called Re)production album of Todd Rundgren released in 2011. According to the album, Hillel Slovak plays guitar except on "Chasing Your Ghost", "Whisper (To Natasha)" and "I'll Be Around", later he left What Is This? to rejoin the Red Hot Chili Peppers to record their second album Freaky Styley.
All songs written and composed by What Is This? except if otherwise noted.
"What Is This Thing Called Love?" is a 1929 popular song written by Cole Porter, for the musical Wake Up and Dream. It was first performed by Elsie Carlisle in March 1929. The song has become a popular jazz standard and one of Porter's most often played compositions.
Wake Up and Dream ran for 263 shows in London. The show was also noticed in New York, and the critics praised Tilly Losch's performance of the song. The show was produced on Broadway in December 1929; in the American rendition, "What Is This Thing Called Love" was sung by Frances Shelley. Ginny Simms performed the song in the 1946 biographical film about Porter's life, Night and Day.
Jazz musicians soon included the song in their repertoire. The recordings of Ben Bernie and Fred Rich made it to the charts in 1930, and the song was also recorded by stride pianist James P. Johnson, clarinetist Artie Shaw and guitarist Les Paul. The piece is usually performed at a fast tempo; the 1956 recording of Clifford Brown and Max Roach with Sonny Rollins is one of the best-known uptempo instrumental versions. Saxophonist Sidney Bechet made a slow rendition in 1941 with Charlie Shavers.
"What Is This Thing Called Love?" is a science fiction short story by Isaac Asimov. The story was requested by Cele Goldsmith Lalli, editor of Amazing Stories, as a satire of a story in Playboy magazine called "Girls for the Slime God", which proposed — not too seriously — that all science fiction stories were concerned with aliens and sex. Asimov set out to write a story telling how a sex-interested alien and humans might really interact. The story appeared in the March 1961 issue of Amazing as "Playboy and the Slime God", but when Asimov included it in his 1969 collection Nightfall and Other Stories he retitled it "What Is This Thing Called Love?" Goldsmith Lalli rewrote the story's last three paragraphs, a change Asimov regarded as a great improvement, and which he kept.
Non-human aliens from the other end of the Galaxy visit Earth and kidnap two humans, a man and a woman. They take them up from the surface to their spaceship and question them about human interaction and methods of human reproduction, which is quite different from theirs.

Thing Called Love may refer to:
What is this thing called love?
This funny thing called love?
Just who can solve its mystery
And why should it make a fool of me?
I saw you there one wonderful day
But you took my heart and you threw my heart away.
That's why I ask the Lord up in Heaven above
Just what is this thing called love?
What is this thing called love?
This funny thing called love?
Just who can solve its mystery?
Why should it make a fool of me?
I saw you there one wonderful day
You took my heart and threw it away
That's why I ask the Lawd in Heaven above
What is this thing called love?
You gave me days of sunshine
You gave me nights of cheer
You made my life an enchanted dream
'Til somebody else came near
Somebody else came near you
I felt the winter's chill
And now I sit and wonder night and day
Why I love you still?
