The Woodpecker Film Festival Directorate has announced the Nominations for 2013 edition of the film festival. A total of 45 films from different parts of the country have been nominated by a 20-member Nomination Jury headed by Mr Kunal Verma, Director Asia and Country Head (India), The Resource Alliance.

Festival presentation: Festival Film Dokumenter (FFD) (Yogyakarta Documentary Film Festival) is a specific film festival play which invites the audience and visitors to know more about documentary genre. FFD held regularly every year in the second week of December since 2002. FFD also the oldest documentary film festival in South East Asia. Here, FFD are manage voluntary by youth people from local universities. All of FFD programs are open for public and free of charge.

Over a million hectares is currently under threat as part of the Merauke Integrated Food and Energy Estate (MIFEE) project, sponsored by the national government. Local Malind people mostly oppose the plans, especially after seeing how existing plantations in the area have destroyed the forest and impoverished the people.
