Newly Inaugurated Chennai-Santragachi AC Express with Brand New LHB rakes departs from Chennai Central !

This train was just recently inaugurated. It is fully air-conditioned and runs with state-of-the-art Linke Holfmann Busch LHB coaches.
This train will make its first commercial run from Santragachi on January 21 and from Chennai Central on January 23.
MAS-SRC AC Express will stop at Sullurupeta, Gudur, Nellore, Ongole, Vijayawada, Tadepalligudem, Rajahmundry, Samalkot Junction, Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, Khurda Road, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Bhadrak, Balasore and Kharagpur Junction.
The train (22807) Santragachi-Chennai AC bi-weekly Superfast express will leave Santragachi at 7p.m. on Tuesdays and Fridays and arrive at Chennai Central at 10.45p.m.on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
The train (22808) Chennai-Santragachi AC bi-weekly Superfast express will leave Chennai Central at 7.55a.m. on Thursdays and Sundays and arrive at Santragachi at 10.25a.m. on Fridays and Mondays.

Powered by 22303 HWH WAP- 4, the 12262 Howrah (HWH)- Mumbai C.S.T. (CSTM) A.C. DURONTO Express skips the busy Santragachi Junction at a restricted speed. At the adjoining coaching yard, a few rakes are spotted, among which an INSPECTION SPECIAL Express is spotted along with a couple of alcos. And in the Electric Locomotive Shed, numerous WAP- 4 are also seen taking rest, and waiting for their respective duties.
Santragachi railway station:
Santragachi railway station is a railway junction on the South Eastern Railway, at Santragachi. The South Eastern Railway serves local trains to Amta, Mecheda, Panskura, Haldia, Kanthi, Medinipur and Kharagpur; and mail/express trains to Central, West and South India. Bengal Nagpur Railway, which is now known as South Eastern Railway, was connected to Howrah station in 1900. This time, the 3 mile long short branch from Santragachhi to Shalimar Station was also created for redirecting heavy traffic of export goods, for further carrying them to Kidderpore dock in Kolkata via large ferry steamers.
Earlier superfast express and mail trains didn't have any stop at Santragachi station. In fact not even a single express train stopped at this station. In the recent days communication between Santragachi and Howrah-Kolkata has improved considerably. Taxi stands and bus stands have been set up to cater to the off board passengers travelling in various directions. There is a dedicated Volvo bus service to connect this area to Netaji Subhash Chandra International Airport, Kolkata. All these factors contributed to the rise of Santragachi as an important railway station. Furthermore, people tend to avoid excessive rush in Howrah station and often get down at Santragachi to board cabs and buses. Almost all Howrah/Shalimar bound express/mail trains stop here except a few like Duronto Express. However these express/mail trains starting from Howrah/Shalimar do not stop at Santragachi station in their outward journeys. nowadays, a few trains originate from Santragachi station to Ajmer, Porbandar, Nanded etc. and a Viwek Express running to Mangalore Central starting from Santragachi. Some Summer Special trains also start from here.

After getting a string of cautions post departure from howrah, the SRC WAP4 finally gets a chance to stretch its legs & whistles past Santragachi Station & its home shed enroute to Kharagpur. One can see the empty rake of HWH-Pune Azad Hind, being shunted towards HWH.

WAG-7 curves and skips Kotapandillapalli with Yesvantpur-Sambalpur Express. As I pan, WAP-4 with devil looks sprint past the up line with Santragachi- Mangalore Vivek express. Had no idea about the approaching Vivek as the Up line signal was red initially.
08302 departs YPR 00.30hrs and arrives SBP 6.15hrs day 2.
Departs YPR Fridays and arrives SBP Saturday.

There is a large lake here named Santragachhi Jheel which attracts migratory birds such as lesser whistling duck in the winter months. The number has increased in recent years, as migratory birds have started to avoid destinations like the lakes in Alipore Zoo, Kolkata.Birds like sarus crane from North America and Australia, gadwall, northern shoveller, northern pintail, garganey from north of the Himalayas,and many other local migratory birds such as cotton pygmy goose, comb duck etc. are spotted here during this season. However, the lesser whistling duck is the most dominant species visible here.

Santragachi bridge maintenance going on lane towards kolkata from Kona Expressway, maintenance work started on 17th, progress till 25th morning 9 AM. Note - All type of good vehicles was diverted through Andul road or Nivedita Setu (Bally), only private cars and public transportation allowed till 11 pm night, bridge remain closed till 5 am next day morning. For maintenance yesterday (Sunday) whole day bridge was closed for maintenance.

Santragachhi
Santragachhi or Santragachi is a neighbourhood of Howrah city in West Bengal, India. It has a railway station which is a railway junction on the South Eastern Railway. There is a large lake here named Santragachhi Jheel which attracts migratory birds such as lesser whistling duck in the winter months.
History
In the early twentieth century, Santragachhi was a large village, with a part within Howrah municipality. According to a legend, the principal family there, the Chaudhuris, who were Barendra brahmins, started staying here 300 years from now. Inspired by them, other Barendra families moved to the place. The railway station of Santragachhi was named after this place, though this place is closer to another railway station at Ramrajatala. Ramrajatala area was considered a quarter of the area under this village.
First vernacular school of the Howrah district was established in Santragachhi in 1857 with the help of a Government grant. For Indian girls, the first girls' school of the Howrah district with Indian management was established in Santragachhi in 1863, with a small grant from the Government.

The South Eastern Railway serves local trains to Amta, Mecheda, Panskura, Haldia, Kanthi, Medinipur and Kharagpur; and mail/express trains to Central, West and South India. Bengal Nagpur Railway, which is now known as South Eastern Railway, was connected to Howrah station in 1900. This time, the 3 mile long short branch from Santragachhi to Shalimar Station was also created for redirecting heavy traffic of export goods, for further carrying them to Kidderpore dock in Kolkata via large ferry steamers.
Earlier superfast express and mail trains didn't have any stop at Santragachi station. In fact not even a single express train stopped at this station. In the recent days communication between Santragachi and Howrah-Kolkata has improved considerably. Taxi stands and bus stands have been set up to cater to the off board passengers travelling in various directions. There is a dedicated Volvo bus service to connect this area to Netaji Subhash Chandra International Airport, Kolkata. All these factors contributed to the rise of Santragachi as an important railway station. Furthermore, people tend to avoid excessive rush in Howrah station and often get down at Santragachi to board cabs and buses. Almost all Howrah/Shalimar bound express/mail trains stop here except a few like Duronto Express. However these express/mail trains starting from Howrah/Shalimar do not stop at Santragachi station in their outward journeys. nowadays, a few trains originate from Santragachi station to Ajmer, Porbandar, Nanded etc. and a Viwek Express running to Mangalore Central starting from Santragachi. Some Summer Special trains also start from here.

Powered by 22303 HWH WAP- 4, the 12262 Howrah (HWH)- Mumbai C.S.T. (CSTM) A.C. DURONTO Express skips the busy Santragachi Junction at a restricted speed. At the adjoining coaching yard, a few rakes are spotted, among which an INSPECTION SPECIAL Express is spotted along with a couple of alcos. And in the Electric Locomotive Shed, numerous WAP- 4 are also seen taking rest, and waiting for their respective duties.

The place was wild reputation. Since the name of the temple was jadeshwar forest thieves. Peshwa ruler was vithoba raktapita disease. Jadeshvar endeavors to resolve the current orthodoxy that belongs jadeshwar gorgeous VS Was built in 1869.
The Cows milk ghee is prepared here. Yatralum milk coming here and have been used for Brahmins. This elegant and interesting history on the second Monday of the month of Shravan jadeshwar temple of Ambaji fair is filled here by watching experiences.
Here too are hundreds of Shravan month. The pathatmaka homatmaka laghurudra occur. During the second Monday of Shravan, Mela here in the foothills behind the Ambaji is umate. It jadeshwar padamasanasthita silver replica of the spontaneous sibikam staff away, umbrella, corymb with a triumphant ride with bhudevo vedaghos is extracted.
