United Artists Television was an American television production/distribution studio of United Artists Corporation that was formed in 1958. The company is remembered for producing series such as This Man Dawson, World of Giants, Stoney Burke, The Outer Limits, Gilligan's Island, My Mother the Car, The Fugitive, Rat Patrol, thirtysomething, The New Phil Silvers Show, The Patty Duke Show and The Pink Panther Show. In September 2014, the studio returned to full-time TV production under the new management of United Artists Media Group, led in part by husband/wife producers Roma Downey and Mark Burnett.
United Artists Television (UATV) was formed on New Year's Day, 1958 with president Herb Golden, Banker's Trust's former vice-president, and Bruce Eells from Television Programs of America as its top operating executive.
In that same year, United Artists Television purchased Associated Artists Productions, giving access to the pre-1950Warner Bros. library and the Popeye cartoon shorts made by Fleischer Studios and Famous Studios for Paramount Pictures between 1933 and 1957.
United Artists (UA) is an American film and television entertainment studio. The studio was founded in 1919 by D. W. Griffith, Charlie Chaplin, Mary Pickford, and Douglas Fairbanks, with the intention of controlling their own interests rather than depending upon the powerful commercial studios.
An incarnation of United Artists formed in November 2006 under a partnership between producer/actor Tom Cruise and his production partner, Paula Wagner, and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. Paula Wagner left the studio on August 14, 2008. Cruise owned a small stake in the studio until late 2011. In 2014, MGM acquired controlling interest in Mark Burnett and Roma Downey's entertainment companies One Three Media and Lightworkers Media, resulting in another relaunch of United Artists.
UA was incorporated as a joint venture on February 5, 1919, by four of the leading figures in early Hollywood: Mary Pickford, Charlie Chaplin, Douglas Fairbanks, and D. W. Griffith. Each held a 20% stake, with the remaining 20% held by lawyer William Gibbs McAdoo. The idea for the venture originated with Fairbanks, Chaplin, Pickford, and cowboy star William S. Hart a year earlier as they were traveling around the U.S. selling Liberty bonds to help the World War I effort. Already veterans of Hollywood, the four film stars began to talk of forming their own company to better control their own work as well as their futures.
Television is a telecommunication medium used for transmitting sound with moving images in monochrome (black-and-white), or in colour, and in two or three dimensions. It can refer to a television set, a television program, or the medium of television transmission. Television is a mass medium, for entertainment, education, news and advertising.
Television became available in crude experimental forms in the late 1920s. After World War II, an improved form became popular in the United States and Britain, and television sets became commonplace in homes, businesses, and institutions. During the 1950s, television was the primary medium for influencing public opinion. In the mid-1960s, color broadcasting was introduced in the US and most other developed countries. The availability of storage media such as VHS tape (1976), DVDs (1997), and high-definition Blu-ray Discs (2006) enabled viewers to watch recorded material such as movies. At the end of the first decade of the 2000s, digital television transmissions greatly increased in popularity. Another development was the move from standard-definition television (SDTV) (576i, with 576 interlaced lines of resolution and 480i) to high-definition television (HDTV), which provides a resolution that is substantially higher. HDTV may be transmitted in various formats: 1080p, 1080i and 720p. Since 2010, with the invention of smart television, Internet television has increased the availability of television programs and movies via the Internet through services such as Netflix, iPlayer, Hulu, Roku and Chromecast.

This closing logo combination is from a DVD copy of the "Petty Duke Show". The Chrislaw logo barely amounts to anything, but the United Artists Television logo is smooth and classy. The final logo is a modern-day addition by the current copyright holder, who smartly put a black-and-white version of their already timeless logo. The result is a fine closing logo combination that blends together well.

A new year, a new logo to tackle! See if you can spot the errors in the video! I made plenty because I am working with a new editing platform. W H O O P S! Welcome to episode 8 of the Logo Corner. Today we are going to discuss MGM's counterpart, United Artists. The history of United Artists is an extended fugue of events, all involving conflict, turbulence, and Hollywood drama. The logos, however, are even more fascinating. From the hexagon to the paperclip and swoosh, United Artists' logos evolved in a rather interesting fashion. Join me in this sojourn into the world of United Artists, the T of Wonder, and magnates stealing film and television libraries. Thanks for your patience, everyone. Hope you all enjoy the new format and the new editing platform! -------------------------------...
