Hanna-Barbera's All-Star Comedy Ice Revue

Hanna-Barbera's All-Star Comedy Ice Revue is a 1978 live-action/animated television special produced by Hanna-Barbera Productions which premiered on CBS on January 13, 1978. It was taped at Bakersfield Civic Auditorium in Bakersfield, California.

Synopsis

A celebrity roast for Fred Flintstone on his 48th birthday featuring Yogi Bear, Jabberjaw, Huckleberry Hound, Scooby-Doo, The Banana Splits, Hong Kong Phooey, Quick Draw McGraw, Snagglepuss and The Hair Bear Bunch. The show is co-hosted by Roy Clark and Bonnie Franklin which includes special guest stars The Sylvers, the comedy duo of Course & Young, the Fentons, Sashi Kuchiki, the Ice Capettes and a special appearance by The Skatebirds. The live-action celebrity roast segments are interspersed with animated segments featuring Fred and Barney.

When Roy and Bonnie announce the guest of honor, Fred is at home watching the event on TV with the misunderstanding that the special was scheduled for the following night. As Fred and Barney rush off to the ice arena, the show continues with musical numbers, ice displays including a comedy team, precision skating, disco-on-ice, jazz skating and an acrobatic number with fiery torches. When Fred finally arrives, the guests perform a "Happy Birthday" salute.

Comedy

In a modern sense, comedy (from the Greek: κωμῳδία, kōmōidía) refers to any discourse or work generally intended to be humorous or to amuse by inducing laughter, especially in theatre, television, film and stand-up comedy. The origins of the term are found in Ancient Greece. In the Athenian democracy, the public opinion of voters was influenced by the political satire performed by the comic poets at the theaters. The theatrical genre of Greek comedy can be described as a dramatic performance which pits two groups or societies against each other in an amusing agon or conflict. Northrop Frye depicted these two opposing sides as a "Society of Youth" and a "Society of the Old". A revised view characterizes the essential agon of comedy as a struggle between a relatively powerless youth and the societal conventions that pose obstacles to his hopes. In this struggle, the youth is understood to be constrained by his lack of social authority, and is left with little choice but to take recourse in ruses which engender very dramatic irony which provokes laughter.

Comedy (Paul Kelly & The Messengers album)

Comedy is a double album recorded by Paul Kelly & The Messengers and originally released in 1991. It was the last album released before the partnership of Kelly and The Messengers was dissolved.

It was released on Mushroom Records in Australia and Doctor Dream Records in the United States.

Track 9, "Take Your Time" is featured in the 1997 Australian movie The Castle.

24/7 Comedy

24/7 Comedy was a 24-hour live radio format produced by iHeartMedia's Premiere Networks in the United States and by Bell Media in Canada. This satellite-driven format showcased established and emerging comedians, such as Jeff Foxworthy and Louis C.K., in a rapid-fire comedic delivery and was hosted by an array of stand-up and improv comedians targeting the 18-54 demographic range. 24/7 Comedy can still be heard on the Android/iOS app iHeartRadio, which streams 24/7 Comedy via Internet radio.

It was first conceived in April 2008 by Bill Bungeroth, who had his partner George Gimarc design the format. The first demos were cut in March 2009, and the network's first logs generated in October. 24/7 Comedy's debut on air was September 27, 2010 in Riverside, California, on KFNY, and a few weeks later digitally on iHeartRadio on October 22, 2010.

The original independent radio company was purchased by Clear Channel Communications in July of 2012, retaining several of the core employees, including George Gimarc, as well as Quinn Cannady, Troy Dorman, Dave Rainkin and host / comedian John Mulrooney.

Ice

Ice is water frozen into a solid state. Depending on the presence of impurities such as particles of soil or bubbles of air, it can appear transparent or a more or less opaque bluish-white color.

In the Solar System, ice is abundant and occurs naturally from as close to the Sun as Mercury to as far as the Oort cloud. Beyond the Solar System, it occurs as interstellar ice. It is abundant on Earth's surface – particularly in the polar regions and above the snow line – and, as a common form of precipitation and deposition, plays a key role in Earth's water cycle and climate. It falls as snowflakes and hail or occurs as frost, icicles or ice spikes.

Ice molecules can exhibit up to sixteen different phases (packing geometries) that depend on temperature and pressure. When water is cooled rapidly (quenching), up to three different types of amorphous ice can form depending on the history of its pressure and temperature. When cooled slowly correlated proton tunneling occurs below 20 K giving rise to macroscopic quantum phenomena. Virtually all the ice on Earth's surface and in its atmosphere is of a hexagonal crystalline structure denoted as ice Ih (spoken as "ice one h") with minute traces of cubic ice denoted as ice Ic. The most common phase transition to ice Ih occurs when liquid water is cooled below 0°C (273.15K, 32°F) at standard atmospheric pressure. It may also be deposited directly by water vapor, as happens in the formation of frost. The transition from ice to water is melting and from ice directly to water vapor is sublimation.

Ice (1998 film)

Ice is a 1998 television disaster film starring Grant Show, Udo Kier, and Eva La Rue. The film has a similar premise as The Day After Tomorrow, a science fiction disaster film released six years later. Though completely in English, it first premiered in Germany in 1998 before being aired on ABC in the United States in 2000.

Plot

A small meteor hits the sun, causing disastrous consequences for the Earth. Los Angeles is, just as the rest of the world, covered with a layer of ice and snow. The government has collapsed and everyone is on their own. Chaos and crime prevails. Together with scientist Dr. Kistler and a small group of survivors, L.A. cop Robert Drake leaves in the direction of Long Beach Harbor to meet with a government ship which will take them to Guam, where it is warmer.

Ice (band)

Ice is an industrial music band formed by guitarist Justin Broadrick and saxophonist/vocalist Kevin Martin.

History

Keeping to a similar vein as their other musical project Techno Animal, Justin Broadrick and Kevin Martin opted for Ice to be a studio-based project. Drummer John Jobaggy and bassist Dave Cochrane were recruited to aid them in the recording process. Their debut album, Under the Skin, is comparable to Pure-era Godflesh and Martin's free jazz and dub work with God. The group went on hiatus for several years and Jobaggy was replaced by Laika drummer Lou Ciccotelli. By their second album, Bad Blood, the band had absorbed hip hop influences and nearly all the songs featured contributions from recognizable names in the underground rap scene. Blixa Bargeld, of Einsturzende Neubauten, also contributed his vocals to the music.
