That didn’t last long. The Abbott government’s commitment to a new era of free speech turned out to be as bogus as its taxpayer-funded expenses for partying on at wedding receptions, writes Mark Latham. http://bit.ly/19fDzdf

Freedom of speach is very important Mr. Abbott. We the Australian people need to know what our government is doing at all times. Not just when it suits you Mr. Abbott. Unless you start doing by the Australian people, it wont take long before we the people start looking for a new government.

Behind the jokes, the controversy over MP expenses shows that current guidelines encourage irresponsible and even criminal behaviour. Should the rules be changed? http://bit.ly/1e5GiJf

Any system or convention that allows people to people repay any "whooops I got caught" claims without penalty is always going to have problems.

Also the ambiguous nature of what activities politicians undertake leads to some blurry lines.

I love the claims that the public servants in Finance never stood up and challenged the expense claims. Getting between a politician and their money is not an ideal place for a public servant to be. Plenty of implied pressure there IMO.

More than 3.2 million people tuned in to watch a one-tonne robot, the Curiosity rover, land on Mars last year, but expect billions to watch when humans step foot on the red planet as early as 2033, which an authority on space exploration believes possible. http://bit.ly/1bGrNhu

Nice, but somewhat absentee managers, can continue to survive unchecked for decades. And the cumulative effect on an employee’s career can be dramatic. Is your boss a wet blanket holding you back? http://bit.ly/18LQS67
