The UNC School of Medicine recently hosted the National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine. This 10-day camp offered more than 200 high school students from across that nation a chance to learn about careers in medicine.

Hi, I’m Delana Wilkinson and I am from central Florida. I’m the Senior Class President, Varsity Cheerleader and Head Editor of Academy of Media Productions at my school, and I am an ambassador for Envision for the NYLF Digital Media, Film, and Journalism. This program gave me real-world insight to achieving my dream job in digital media. I’m a YouTuber and I’ve produced videos since I was in the third grade and I’ve had a passion for the art growing up, so when I was nominated to attend, I thought “wow, what a perfect fit!” This program opened so many doors for me. If there’s one piece of advice I can give, it would be to take all the information that they give you and put it to use. They taught us how to market ourselves and our services, and next thing you know, I was working backstage filming a commercial for the #1 hit radio station in Florida, XL 106.7’s “Johnny’s House”, and interacting and making connections with international superstars Echosmith, Ingrid Michaelson, A Great Big World, American Authors, Alex Angelo, and Alex & Sierra, and I found myself later producing more commercials for pop artist, Lexxi Saal, for her POP! Explosion tour with POP! Star Magazine and Playlist Live.
One of my favorite times at Envision was working with the New York Film Academy. I had so much fun and learned new skills to incorporate into my own videos. I learned technical terms for filmmaking, screenwriting (which I had no experience with whatsoever), and editing techniques, and I even furthered my directing skills for the future. Furthermore, I had the best Faculty Advisor ever. She was so sweet and made my Envision Experience even better. She constantly supported us and gave us as much advice as she could. When she looked at you, it was like she just knew of all the wonderful things that you were capable of. We connected and I am so glad that I met her.
NYLF Digital Media, Film & Journalism is different from other programs because New York City was basically my campus. We went on location and experienced different parts of the city and the abundance of great opportunities it has to offer. Attending an Envision program is different than learning in a traditional classroom because you’re not just talking about it – you’re actually there to experience it and be hands-on with it.
The most important thing that I learned at NYLF Digital Media, Film & Journalism is not to stress about a college major. I learned that a degree in this field offers so many amazing opportunities and an abundance of different jobs. I also discovered that aside from film, graphic design and broadcast journalism, I really enjoyed journalism. This experience was so life-changing! I had never tried my hand at writing my own article, and I found that I loved that as well. Envision helped me to learn that I can do anything that I set my mind to.
I definitely learned a lot from my experience and I made some of the best friends that I’ve ever had. We talk every day, and one of my friends, Tanner, even drove two hours when I was in Memphis to visit me. You will make so many connections that will last a lifetime and will help you in the future. I was actually approached by a publicist and a fellow student from Hollywood who both were impressed by my music video at the Talent Show and offered to put me touch with their connections! We were all helping each other to achieve our dreams, and this process will continue for the rest of our lives. You will remember the people and the relationships that you will make at this program forever.

AMELIA, Ohio (WKRC) - An Amelia Middle School student was blown away by an invitation he got to attend the National Youth Leadership Forum: Explore STEM in Los Angeles.
Zakrey Franz was nominated by his math teacher who recommends students for the summer camp each year. Some are able to attend and some aren't, but the Franz family is bound and determined to make sure Zak can get there. The invitation came as a total surprise to Zak, although perhaps it shouldn't have; he's a bright students and a talented athlete.
"Once me and my mom opened it up, read it, there was no words--there's no words to explain how happy I was," said Zak.
Now all that's standing in Zak's way is the cost to attend the camp. Tuition is more than $2,000 and that doesn't include room and board. Money is tight for the family, so they're passing out flyers and fund-raising to try to make it happen.
"You feel like you don't have the opportunities and can give your children what they deserve. So, it's the financial end that is holding us back of being able to completely make sure he gets this opportunity," said Jessica Bentley Franz.
The family has set up a GoFundMe account to help Zak reach his goal.

National Youth
National Youth (Swedish: Nationell Ungdom) was a Swedish neofascist and openly racist organisation. National Youth was closely linked with the Swedish Resistance Movement.
The group became famous in the summer of 1998 for tearing down photographs of nude boys at the Swedish Historical Museum. The reason behind the action was to protest against paedophilia and "degenerate art". The exhibition was closed down after the event.
Since December 2000 they participated in the annual Salem March for Daniel Wretström, who was killed in the Stockholm suburb of Salem by a group of which some were young immigrants.
Together with the Swedish Resistance Movement they published the magazine Nationellt Motstånd. Earlier they published the magazine Folktribunen, which among other things has praised the people behind the racist killings in Kode and Klippan (in Sweden) as true patriots. The editor, Klas Lund, was convicted of bank robbery and of the murder of Ronny Landin in the summer of 1986. In the beginning of the 1990s Klas Lund was one of the leaders of VAM.

Envision EMI
Envision EMI, LLC is a privately held, for-profit education company that, as Envision Experience, creates, markets and runs a number of youth leadership programs under various names. The company develops curricula for, markets, manages, and produces a variety of educational experiences, including leadership and career-oriented education programs, for elementary school through college-age students. The company is based in Vienna, Virginia and runs its organizations' programs across the world.
Critics have accused the company of recruiting students by claiming that attendance is selective, when the company actually markets its programs to tens of thousands of youth. In 2009, the company attracted 15,000 youth to events related to President Barack Obama's inauguration, but was unable to fulfill the promises it made in its promotional materials. It settled a lawsuit, promising to pay out up to $17 million in vouchers to event attendees.

The company was originally founded as Envision EMI in 1985 by Barbara Harris and Richard Rossi.As of 2010, neither were affiliated with the company. Envision Experience plans, organizes, and runs seminars, programs, and conferences around the world. As of 2006, the predecessor company Envision EMI had over 200 staff members and annual revenues of over US$75 million, with over 47,000 students from fourth grade through college attended Envision programs around the world.

Digital media
Digital media are any media that are encoded in a machine-readable format. Digital media can be created, viewed, distributed, modified and preserved on computers. Computer programs and software; digital imagery, digital video; video games; web pages and websites, including social media; data and databases; digital audio, such as mp3s; and e-books are examples of digital media. Digital media are frequently contrasted with print media, such as printed books, newspapers and magazines, and other traditional or analog media, such as pictures, film or audio tape.
Combined with the Internet and personal computing, digital media has caused disruption in publishing, journalism, entertainment, education, commerce and politics. Hi, I’m Delana Wilkinson and I am from central Florida. I’m the Senior Class President, Varsity Cheerleader and Head Editor of Academy of Media Productions at my school, and I am an ambassador for Envision for the NYLF Digital Media, Film, and Journalism. This program gave me real-world insight to achieving my dream job in digital media. I’m a YouTuber and I’ve produced videos since I was in the third grade and I’ve had a passion for the art growing up, so when I was nominated to attend, I thought “wow, what a perfect fit!” This program opened so many doors for me. If there’s one piece of advice I can give, it would be to take all the information that they give you and put it to use. They taught us how to market ourselves and our services, and next thing you know, I was working backstage filming a commercial for the #1 hit radio station in Florida, XL 106.7’s “Johnny’s House”, and interacting and making connections with international superstars Echosmith, Ingrid Michaelson, A Great Big World, American Authors, Alex Angelo, and Alex & Sierra, and I found myself later producing more commercials for pop artist, Lexxi Saal, for her POP! Explosion tour with POP! Star Magazine and Playlist Live.
One of my favorite times at Envision was working with the New York Film Academy. I had so much fun and learned new skills to incorporate into my own videos. I learned technical terms for filmmaking, screenwriting (which I had no experience with whatsoever), and editing techniques, and I even furthered my directing skills for the future. Furthermore, I had the best Faculty Advisor ever. She was so sweet and made my Envision Experience even better. She constantly supported us and gave us as much advice as she could. When she looked at you, it was like she just knew of all the wonderful things that you were capable of. We connected and I am so glad that I met her.
NYLF Digital Media, Film & Journalism is different from other programs because New York City was basically my campus. We went on location and experienced different parts of the city and the abundance of great opportunities it has to offer. Attending an Envision program is different than learning in a traditional classroom because you’re not just talking about it – you’re actually there to experience it and be hands-on with it.
The most important thing that I learned at NYLF Digital Media, Film & Journalism is not to stress about a college major. I learned that a degree in this field offers so many amazing opportunities and an abundance of different jobs. I also discovered that aside from film, graphic design and broadcast journalism, I really enjoyed journalism. This experience was so life-changing! I had never tried my hand at writing my own article, and I found that I loved that as well. Envision helped me to learn that I can do anything that I set my mind to.
I definitely learned a lot from my experience and I made some of the best friends that I’ve ever had. We talk every day, and one of my friends, Tanner, even drove two hours when I was in Memphis to visit me. You will make so many connections that will last a lifetime and will help you in the future. I was actually approached by a publicist and a fellow student from Hollywood who both were impressed by my music video at the Talent Show and offered to put me touch with their connections! We were all helping each other to achieve our dreams, and this process will continue for the rest of our lives. You will remember the people and the relationships that you will make at this program forever.
