TURQUOISE NOISE
All film converted from VHS-C to AVI from a 1993 Panasonic camcorder. Music by Cabo Del Mar - 'Dimension pres Oceano' Beach remix fused with Illitheas Onyx remix 2. Both tracks available at Beatport.com. ______ Another collection of the many VHS-C shots I took several years ago. This particular video displays sections of VHS-C clips taken at Norman's Cay Bahamas in March of 2004. The flight to Norman's Cay, Bahamas, located on the Exumas strip of the Bahamas, was made in a single engine airplane 4 seater. My father in law, a retired airline pilot, piloted a separate double engine airplane with a friend and her children during the same trip. I'd always believed the descriptions by those who had visited the Bahamas were only slightly exaggerative. Those descriptions may have remained exaggerative in my mind had the trip to BAHAMAS been limited to Nassau. The Exumas somehow found the most watercolor and beauty. During the late 70's and early 80's, Norman's Cay was basically inhabited/taken over by drug traffickers including Carlos Lehder who was later sentenced for his crimes. Research on the subject of drug trafficking at Norman's Cay shows (in my opinion) that the Bahamian government at the time may have secretly allowed the drug trafficking after discovering the money involved. Lehder's home, called 'Volcano' stood in 2004, although frequented by looters and visitors. This video provides some footage of some of the remains of Lehder's possessions, which according to my ...

Miami to Exuma Bahamas on Sea-Doos Part IV: The Arrival
Miami to Exuma Bahamas on Sea-Doos Part IV: The Arrival
It took 4 years of dreaming, 6 months of planning & gathering supplies, and then two brutal days of riding across 250 miles of open ocean for this moment to happen. We arrived at Allen Cay in the Exumas at approximately 3:00 PM on day 2. I had spent countless hours looking at satellite maps and photographs of the islands so to finally set foot on Allen Cay was a totally surreal experience. After feeding the famous Iguanas and snorkeling we hopped back on the Doo's and headed further South to the infamous island of "Norman's Cay". The island is the former home of cocaine drug lord Carlos Lehder and was once used to facilitate his smuggling operations. Order has long since been restored and the island is home to a small air strip, the Norman's Cay Beach Club also known as MacDuff's, and a few private residences. We rented one of the 3 villas available at MacDuff's which was actually quite comfortable. The MacDuff's bar was also a great place to hangout. Boats and planes would arrive from God knows where and there was always a small but steady assortment of travelers with stories to share.

Blow
Juan Sierra I Love this job. Blow is a 2001 biopic about the American cocaine smuggler George Jung, directed by Ted Demme. David McKenna and Nick Cassavetes adapted Bruce Porter's 1993 book Blow: How a Small Town Boy Made $100 Million with the Medellín Cocaine Cartel and Lost It All for the screenplay. It is based on the real life stories of George Jung, Pablo Escobar, Carlos Lehder, and the Medellín Cartel. The film's title comes from a slang term for cocaine.
