Rachel Marsden

Rachel Marsden (born December 2, 1974) is a conservative political columnist, television commentator and university lecturer, originally from Canada but now based in Paris. A fluent French speaker, she teaches at Sciences Po University in Paris. She is also the CEO of Rachel Marsden Associates, which describes itself as "an international firm headquartered in Paris, France, and Toronto, Canada, with extensive experience in Defense, Intelligence, Politics, Media and Public Affairs issues."

In the 2000s, she was a columnist for publications such as the Toronto Sun and Human Events magazine. Her column is currently syndicated by Gracenote (formerly known as Tribune Media Services). She has appeared as a co-host and contributor on Fox News and as a panelist or commentator on RT and La Chaîne parlementaire (LCP).

Early life and education

Marsden grew up in Port Coquitlam, BC. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Simon Fraser University with a minor in French language. In 2002 she took a political journalism training course at the National Journalism Center in Washington, DC.

Rachel

Rachel (Hebrew: רָחֵל, Modern Rakhél, Tiberian Rāḥēl) (Arabic: راحيل‎) was the favorite of Biblical patriarch Jacob's two wives as well as the mother of Joseph and Benjamin, two of the twelve progenitors of the tribes of Israel. The name "Rachel" is from an unused root meaning: "to journey as a ewe that is a good traveller." Rachel was the daughter of Laban and the younger sister of Leah, Jacob's first wife. Rachel was a niece of Rebekah (Jacob's mother), Laban being Rebekah's brother, making Jacob her first cousin.

Marriage to Jacob

Rachel is first mentioned in the Hebrew Bible in Genesis 29 when Jacob happens upon her as she is about to water her father's flock. She was the second daughter of Laban, Rebekah’s brother. Jacob had traveled a great distance to find Laban. Rebekah had sent him there to be safe from his furious twin brother, Esau.

During Jacob's stay, Jacob fell in love with Rachel and agreed to work seven years for Laban in return for her hand in marriage. On the night of the wedding, the bride was veiled and Jacob did not notice that Leah, Rachel's older sister, had been substituted for Rachel. Whereas "Rachel was lovely in form and beautiful," "Leah had tender eyes". Later Jacob confronted Laban, who excused his own deception by insisting that the older sister should marry first. He assured Jacob that after his wedding week was finished, he could take Rachel as a wife as well, and work another seven years as payment for her. When God “saw that Leah was unloved, he opened her womb”, (Gen 29:31) and she gave birth to four sons.

People Mover (Anchorage)

The People Mover is the public transportation agency that serves metropolitan Anchorage, Alaska. Owned by the Municipality of Anchorage, its primary operating area is within these boundaries. It also provides service to Anchorage suburbs, such as Eagle River and Birchwood.

Service

The People Mover bus system includes regular all-day service routes on many of the city's major streets as well as one route with limited service that goes from Anchorage to Eagle River and Birchwood during the weekday commute hours. Many routes terminate at the Downtown Transit Center, located at the southeast corner of 6th Avenue and H Street in Downtown Anchorage.

People Mover service for most routes within Anchorage begins at 6 or 7 am and ends at 9 or 10 pm, with some of the major routes running until 11 pm on weekdays. On Saturdays, most of the all-day routes begin service at 8 or 9 am, and end at 7 or 8 pm. On Sundays, the service in much more limited, with most routes starting at 10 or 11 am and ending at 5 or 6 pm.

John Winston Ono Lennon, MBE (born John Winston Lennon; 9 October 1940 – 8 December 1980) was an English singer and songwriter who rose to worldwide fame as a co-founder of the band the Beatles, the most commercially successful band in the history of popular music. With fellow member Paul McCartney, he formed a celebrated songwriting partnership.

Born and raised in Liverpool, Lennon became involved in the skiffle craze as a teenager; his first band, the Quarrymen, evolved into the Beatles in 1960. When the group disbanded in 1970, Lennon embarked on a solo career that produced the critically acclaimed albums John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band and Imagine, and iconic songs such as "Give Peace a Chance", "Working Class Hero", and "Imagine". After his marriage to Yoko Ono in 1969, he changed his name to John Ono Lennon. Lennon disengaged himself from the music business in 1975 to raise his infant son Sean, but re-emerged with Ono in 1980 with the new album Double Fantasy. He was murdered three weeks after its release.
