Aero-TV: EAA's Jack Pelton - 'Everything's Going to Be OK'
Building A New Future For The EAA... One Issue At A Time With only a couple of weeks in pocket, directing the reorganization of the EAA in the wake of the departure of Rod Hightower, ti seems that we can't get enough info from new Boss, Jack Pelton. Sitting next to a well-placed Stearman on the floor of the NBAA convention, ANN caught up with Jack to get a little more info as Jack adjusted to the realities of heading the evolving organization. Jack seems comfortable with his new role and is not the least bit intimidated about what lies ahead... and at the same time, seems all to aware that there is some repair work to do before EAA can get past current difficulties and start building a new future. Commuting back and forth between his home in Wichita and the office in Oshkosh, Jack is using GA to be where he needs to be and making sure that nothing gets left unattended. And he doesn't have a lot of time to waste. In addition to getting EAA back on track, there's this little gathering, each year, called AirVenture, to plan... and you can tell that this weighs heavily on his mind... Airborne at NBAA2012, 11.01.12: Part 145 Worries, Nextant, Pelton Update
Also: Kestrel, Hartzell, King Air Record, Tuskegee Airmen... and More! When it comes to the FAA's proposed re-write of part 145 repair station rules, the avionics industry certainly has a lot of skin in the game. At the NBAA conference Wednesday, AEA vice president for government and industry affairs, talked with ANN's Jim Campbell about the industry's position on the proposed new rules. Following the success of Nextant's 400XT re-manufacturing program, company CEO Ken Ricci said at the NBAA convention in Orlando that the company has its eyes on the next airplane to get the full makeover ... but he is unable to say just yet what airplane it will be. EAA's Jack Pelton, who was recently named chairman of the board, and who has taken over the duties of CEO on an acting basis... told ANN at the NBAA convention that there will be some short-term and long-term changes coming for the organization. All this... and MORE in today's episode of Airborne!!! Airborne's NBAA Special Programming for 11.01.12 is chock full of info about NBAA 2012 for Thursday, November 1st, 2012... Airborne 10.26.12: Pelton's EAA Commentary, TFR v NBAA?, Redbird Raises Sim Profile
Also: UTC Cuts, FAA Penalties, Embraer, More NBAA, AW119, Eurocopter AD, Cool City, More TSA Nonsense ANN broke some major news earlier in the week with the announcement that Rod Hightower had stepped down as the Boss at EAA... now ANN presents excerpts of an intriguing interview with the man chosen to guide the EAA transition -- Jack Pelton. If you're traveling to NBAA 2012 on Monday, Brace Yourself! One of the presidential candidates has decided to make a timely swing through Orlando on Monday and you know what that means! The FAA has already given notice that a VIP TFR will be in place just as many of you will be arriving for the NBAA convention. You gotta love it when a plan comes together. After one year of turning students into Private Pilots for a flat fee of $9500, Redbird Flight Simulation's Skyport reports their experiment in simulator-based training is working. At its Migration Flight Training Conference this week, Redbird announced the school has graduated 20 Private Pilots, as well as completed 18 instrument ratings, one multi-engine rating and one instrument instructor certificate. It took an average of 38 flight hours to complete the private pilot rating, which is less than two-thirds the national average. All this... and MORE in today's episode of Airborne!!! Aero-TV at NBAA 2010: Cessna's Jack Pelton - Investing in the Future
Cessna's Big/Bad BizJet Gets Bigger/Badder! When Jack Pelton's troops get an idea to start tinkering with one of their birds, things tend to get 'interesting' in a big way. BUT... when the Cessna clan starts tinkering with the fastest BizJet in the biz, the much lauded (and lusted-after) Citation X; its simply a matter of time before things get just plane wild. Welcome to that time. Cessna has just taken the wraps off the Citation Ten -- a larger, and more advanced version of the Citation X. In addition to tweaking the swiftest Citation to faster realms, the bird will serve as the launch vehicle for the new Garmin G5000 avionics suite, a Cessna-exclusive advanced cabin management system, and more powerful/efficient Rolls-Royce engines. With a first flight scheduled for late 2011 (the viewing line starts behind us...), certification and first deliveries should take place in 2013. Just as important, tough, is the fact that this Citation will better its predecessor with a 211 nautical mile increase in range at high-speed cruise, a 214-pound increase in maximum payload and a faster rate of climb direct to 45000 feet. Yowza.... The Citation Ten features whole shopping list of cool new accoutrements -- a 15-inch longer fuselage for more cabin space, winglets for more efficient performance, a new electrical system, dual lithium-ion batteries, new avionics, autothrottle, a redesigned cabin with new interior seats and cabin appointments, and a proprietary fiber optic-based cabin ...

Aero-TV: Staying Positive - Cessna's Jack Pelton Talks About 2009
Cessna CEO Talks 2009... One of aviation's oldest and most productive companies is holding its head high despite the economic malaise that has struck the nation... along with some truly dunderheaded moves by the Washington Elite... who victimized business aviation unfairly and with great fanfare. But Business Aviation is staying alive and doing its best to defend its powerful value to th nation... a fight that was led, in large part, by Cessna's willingness to confront Washington and the media to PROVE that Business Aviation is one of the valued players in keeping business alive, thousands of people employed and our commerce moving along as strongly as possible. During a press conference at NBAA 2009, Cessna Boss Jack Pelton talked about Cessna's efforts to deal with today's market while maintaining extensive R&D; efforts including the development of the Citation CJ4, as well as the Cessna SkyCatcher. Pelton's commitment is so strong to that program, by the way, that Pelton noted that he personally flew the new Cessna LSA and spun it himself in order to assure that their new entry-level aircraft was what he promised at Oshkosh a few years ago. Check out this and other topics as ANN spends a few minutes with Cessna's CEO, President (and Part-Time Test Pilot) Jack Pelton. Copyright 2009, Aero-News Network, Inc., ALL Rights Reserved. Also: More TSA Screw-Ups, FAA Delays Seattle Mtg's, EADS Wants US Mill-Bucks, F35 Fears, Tiger Moth v Cow... We heard Monday morning that something "huge" was in the works... but this is hardly what we and many at EAA expected... ANN has confirmed that the EAA Board of Directors accepted the resignation of President and CEO Rod Hightower early Monday. Jack Pelton, recently retired Chairman, president and CEO of Cessna Aircraft, has been elected Chairman of the Board of Directors of EAA. In his role as EAA Chair, Pelton will guide the organization through the leadership transition. Bendix/King's myWingMan application is now available for download from the Apple iTunes Store. Intriguing Oshkosh Interview Updates SkyCatcher, Columbus, C350/400... and More! One of the more enjoyable aspects of doing the "Oshkosh Crawl" is the chance to catch up with the movers and shakers of aviation. And few of those movers and shakers seem to have as much to be happy about as Cessna CEO Jack Pelton, who is leading some of the industry's most watched programs. It was a good week for Cessna... Just a year after the bird's intro, Cessna unveiled the first production Model 162 SkyCatcher light sport aircraft, complete with a production interior, as the event got underway. The unveiling comes one year from the date, and at the same venue where Cessna officially launched the light sport aircraft program. Since the launch, Cessna has taken orders for more than 1000 SkyCatchers and completed three airframes for the program's development. Cessna says the 162 prototype and the first production aircraft have accumulated more than 90 hours for ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) flight testing, which will be completed later this year. A third airframe serves as an ASTM test article and has started static testing. The primarily aluminum aircraft will meet ASTM standard F2245 for the light sport category. Pelton also updated progress on their "BIG JET" Columbus program. Columbus is the company's newest and largest variant of the Citation business jet line. Pelton reports excellent progress on t he program, even better sales activity (some 50% of which is ...

Aero-TV: Jack Pelton At AEA 2009 -- Addressing Industry I...
Jack Defends Aviation and Defines A Proper Response For Our Critics Say what you will, but these days Cessna CEO and C-195 aficionado, Jack Pelton, is a man with a mission. Sick and tired of watching an industry he loves victimized by misinformation and prejudice, Jack has come out swinging... and the man knows how to take on his foes. At the recently concluded AEA 2009 Convention and tradeshow, Jack was a featured speaker. He spoke to attendees about Weathering the Storm, and received a very positive response from an admittedly sympathetic crowd. But its the Cessna campaign to fight the anti-aviation hysteria around the nation that has the rest of aviation applauding Pelton. Regardless of how you feel about corporate America right now, in this age of federal (taxpayer-funded) bailouts and billions of dollars allocated for "stimulus" funding...

Jack talked about everything... the Piston line, SkyCatcher, Columbus, Citation updates and upgrades... but it was his campaign to restore some truth and respect to the perception of the aviation world that really animated the man. Aero-TV: Skycatcher Update - Production Ramps Up for 2010.mov
Bob Stangarone Details Cessna's Newest Contender in the LSA Market At the 2009 AOPA Summit, attendees experienced an up-close encounter with Cessna's newest aircraft to enter the LSA market. Since the announcement of the 162 Skycatcher program in 2007, Cessna has received over 1000 orders. A two-place, single-engine piston, high-wing aircraft, the Skycatcher is a strong contender in the training market. Powered by the Continental O-200D 100-hp engine, the 162 Skycatcher weighs in at an extremely light 830 pounds empty weight, 280 pounds less than the 150. As a result, the aircraft features a cruise speed up to 118 knots and a maximum range of 470 nautical miles. In addition, the 162 includes the all-new Garmin G300 avionics system featuring an optional second panel display. The 162 arrived at the AOPA Summit as part of Cessna's demonstration of its new Internet-based flight training software, available through Cessna's Pilot Center network and developed in conjunction with Kings Schools. The web-training program, coupled with the Skycatcher, represents Cessna's effort to offer a complete flight-training package for new students as the company makes its first 162 deliveries. On December 18, 2009, Rose Pelton, wife of Cessna CEO, Jack Pelton, took delivery of the very first Model 162 Skycatcher. Copyright 2010, Aero-News Network, Inc., All Rights Reserved. Aero-TV: An Aero-American Effort - Hawker Beechcraft Stays On Point
Hawker Beech Remains Feisty And Hopeful About Their Future Prospects OK... We admit it, we like Bill Boisture... one of the last plain-speaking CEOs in the BizAv game since Jack Pelton was forced to retire. And he was in rare form at NBAA2011. Hawker Beechcraft president and CEO Bill Boisture had a fairly pointed message for the Obama Administration during his remarks at a news conference at the 2011 NBAA convention in Las Vegas. He said policies that have a direct negative impact on what is arguably the strongest export sector for US manufacturing are counterproductive. He added that the administration had been informed of the impacts its policies are having on the domestic aircraft manufacturing industry, and with the recently-announced policies still unfavorable to aviation companies, "we must assume it's intentional. We are approaching it with new resolve." HBC is working towards building a company structure that Boisture said is more agile and flexible. He discussed training initiatives in place for HBC workers including college degree programs, and outlined the company's growth in Chihuahua, Mexico. As to product updates, Boisture said the Hawker AT6 light attack aircraft program is progressing with testing using most air-dropped NATO weapons. Executive Vice President Shawn Vick told the media attending the news conference that the Hawker 200 remains on track, and that the company will petition the FAA to allow FAR Part 135 charter operators of Hawker 800XP, 800XPR ...
