Kaberamaido is a district in Eastern Uganda. Like most other Ugandan districts, it is named after its 'chief town', Kaberamaido, where the district headquarters are located.

Kaberamaido District lies approximately between Latitudes:1.5500 to 2.3834 and Longitudes:30.0167 to 34.3000. The average coordinates of the district are:01 47N, 33 09E. The district is bordered by Alebtong District to the north, Amuria District to the northeast, Soroti District to the east, Serere District to the southeast, Buyende District to the south, Amolatar District to the southwest and Dokolo District to the northwest. The District headquarters at Kaberamaido, lie approximately 410 kilometres (250 mi) by road, northeast of Kampala, Uganda's capital and largest city.

Kaberamaido is a town in Eastern Uganda. It is the main municipal, administrative and commercial center of Kaberamaido District and is the location of the headquarters for the district.

Kaberamaido is located approximately 163 kilometres (101 mi) by road, northeast of the city of Mbale in eastern Uganda. The coordinates of the town are: Latitude: 1.7650 (1° 45' 54"N); Longitude: 33.1500 (33° 09' 00"E)

In 2008, the population of Kaberamaido Municipality was estimated at 2,943 people, of whom 1,483 (50.4%) were males and 1,460 (49.6%) were females. The population of the municipality was 1.8% of the district population. In 2010, the Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS), estimated the population of the town at about 3,200. In 2011, UBOS estimated the mid-year population of Kaberamaido at 3,400.

Yoweri Kaguta Museveni ( pronunciation (help·info); born c. 1944) is a Ugandan politician who has been President of Uganda since 26 January 1986.

Museveni was involved in the war that deposed Idi Amin Dada, ending his rule in 1979, and in the rebellion that subsequently led to the demise of the Milton Obote regime in 1985. With the notable exception of northern areas, Museveni has brought relative stability and economic growth to a country that has endured decades of government mismanagement, rebel activity and civil war. His tenure has also witnessed one of the most effective national responses to HIV/AIDS in Africa.

In the mid-to-late 1990s, Museveni was lauded by the West as part of a new generation of African leaders. His presidency has been marred, however, by invading and occupying Congo during the Second Congo War (the war in the Democratic Republic of Congo which has resulted in an estimated 5.4 million deaths since 1998) and other conflicts in the Great Lakes region. Recent developments, including the abolition of presidential term limits before the 2006 elections and the harassment of democratic opposition, have attracted concern from domestic commentators and the international community.
