Max Rushden

Max Rushden (born 18 April 1979) is an English television presenter who replaced Andy Goldstein as a co-presenter of Saturday morning Sky Sports show Soccer AM alongside Helen Chamberlain from August 2008. After falling sick one morning Adam Smith AKA Franky Fryer stepped in to present the show. Rushden is now on Fantasy Football Club on Sky Sports. Rushden attended Oxford University studying Modern History.

Career

Rushden presented the breakfast show on BBC London 94.9 from December 2006 - March 2008. He has also presented on TalkSport, BBC Radio 5 Live and substituted for James Richardson on the Guardian's Football Weekly podcast since 2010.

On 1 May 2010, Rushden competed in charity football match at Old Trafford. He played on the Rivals team as he supports Cambridge United. Playing in a team including Ian Rush, John Barnes and Dave Beasant he played against a team featuring ex-United stars including Jaap Stam, Dwight Yorke and Denis Irwin.

He did feature in Dion Dublin's legends game at the Abbey Stadium on 27 April 2009. He played alongside Cambridge United heroes including; Andy Fensome, Liam Daish, John Taylor and Lee Philpott. Rushden started on the bench but came on after 20 minutes for Liam Daish, telling Dion Dublin to go to and play at centre-back whilst he wandered up front. He did very little in truth, but was heavily involved in two of the goals. He also had a header rebound off the bar. Rushden failed to score the goal at the Abbey Stadium that he would have dreamed about as a kid, growing up as a supporter of Cambridge United.

Rushden is a town and civil parish in the county of Northamptonshire, England.

The parish of Rushden covers an area of some 9,000 acres (36.42 km²), and is part of the district of East Northamptonshire. The population of Rushden is 29,272 (Census 2011), making it the fifth largest town in the county. The Rushden-Higham urban area, which includes the adjoining town of Higham Ferrers, has an estimated population of 36,410.

Location

Rushden lies on the A6 mid-way between Bedford and Kettering. The southern limits of the town border on the county of Bedfordshire, and to its north lies the River Nene (locally pronounced Nen) which flows into The Wash. Rushden lies in a small valley, with a stream or brook known as Sidney Brook flowing through the centre of the town. During the late 1960s and 70s this stream was culverted to prevent flash flooding. From whichever way Rushden is approached, the streets and roads can be seen stretching out in the valley, with the spire of St Mary's church prominent above its rooftops.
