Elio Pace (born 1968) is a British singer/songwriter/piano-player/producer/arranger.
Elio was born in Woking, Surrey, in 1968 of Italian parents. He showed early signs of natural musical talent when he started to sing and play the piano at the age of four. Throughout his childhood he developed his ear for music as well as his love of rock & roll. He had his first 'proper' piano lesson at the age of eleven achieving the highest qualification of Grade 8 by the time he was seventeen.
Elio went on to train at the Leeds College of Music, and in 1988, singing and playing his own songs, he reached the final of Bob Says Opportunity Knocks on BBC TV, which led to numerous radio and television appearances including, Wogan, Michael Barrymore's Saturday Night Out and The Les Dawson Show with Shirley Bassey and Randy Crawford. In 1989, he starred in his own 30-minute documentary about his life and music, as part of ITV's The Music Makers.
Toured the UK in the original casts of Tutti Frutti, Great Balls of Fire and Dancing in the Street. He appeared in and was Musical Director for many shows including Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (as the Pharaoh), West Side Story (as Tony); five DGM productions, Rave On, Summer in the City, Itchycoo Park, Hold Tight It's 60's Night and Hold Tight It's 70's Night, and Bill Kenwright's Thank You for the Music in which he appeared as Elton John and Billy Joel.
Weekend Wogan was a Sunday morning radio programme on BBC Radio 2 in the United Kingdom, presented by Sir Terry Wogan. The show, which began its run on 14 February 2010 marked Sir Terry's return to the airwaves following his decision to step down as presenter of the weekday breakfast show, Wake Up to Wogan in December 2009.
From November 2015 the show took an extended hiatus due to Wogan's ill health, an illness from which he died in January 2016 making his final broadcast on 8 November 2015. The show continued with guest hosts until 29 November 2015 after which it was replaced by Madeley on Sunday presented by Richard Madeley.
The programme featured guests and live music from BBC Radio 2 studios at Western House in London. It was broadcast for approximately 40 Sundays a year, with the remaining 12 being taken by an interim show, which since May 2012 was Madeley on Sunday. Previously the interim show was Michael Ball's Sunday Brunch.
Wogan confirmed to his listeners on 7 September 2009 that he would be leaving the breakfast show at the end of the year with Chris Evans taking over. He presented his final edition of Wake Up to Wogan on 18 December 2009, although by then it had been announced that Wogan would return to Radio 2 from 14 February 2010 to host a live weekly two-hour Sunday show, featuring live musical performance and guests, between 11.00am and 1.00pm.
BBC Radio 2 is one of the BBC's national radio stations and the most popular station in the United Kingdom. Much of its daytime playlist-based programming is best described as adult contemporary or AOR, although the station is also noted for its specialist broadcasting of other musical genres. Radio 2 broadcasts throughout the UK on FM between 88.1 and 90.2 MHz from studios in Western House, adjacent to Broadcasting House in central London. Programmes are relayed on digital radio via DAB, Sky, Cable TV, IPTV, Freeview, Freesat and the Internet.
The station was launched at 05:30 on 30 September 1967, and evolved from the Light Programme, with some of the Light Programme's music shows transferring to the newly launched BBC Radio 1. The first show had started at 05:30 am (on the Light Programme) but continued with Breakfast Special from Paul Hollingdale as Radio 1 split.
In early years, much programming and music was common to both stations, particularly on the shared FM frequency. Radio One was targeted at the audience of pirate radio stations whereas Radio Two settled down as a middle-of-the-road station playing laid-back pop/rock, folk and country, jazz and big-band music, easy listening, light classics, and oldies, with significant amounts of comedy and sport. Notable broadcasters on Radio Two in the 70s and 80s were Ray Moore on early breakfast, Terry Wogan on breakfast, replaced by Ken Bruce and later Derek Jameson; Jimmy Young and his lunchtime news and current affairs show; 'Diddy' David Hamilton on mid-afternoons, John Dunn at what became known as drivetime. Radio Two became the first national 24-hour radio station in the UK in 1979.

Stefano Belisari (born 30 July 1961 in Milan), best known as Elio, is an Italian singer and musician, the founder of the Italian rock band Elio e le Storie Tese. He performs as the lead vocalist and plays the transverse flute (which he degreed in at the music conservatory), and sometimes the electric guitar and the electric bass. The band has been active in Italy since 1980, and perform regularly in concert.
Elio also graduated on 20 December 2002 from the Politecnico di Milano with a M.Sc. degree in Electronic Engineering, after having dropped out several years previous to his successful return.
The texts of his songs are eclectic, hilarious, and sometimes political. Belisari lists Frank Zappa as a primary influence and this reflects itself in the variety of both lyrical and musical stylings.
He's now a judge of Italian's X-Factor.

The great Elio Pace and his brilliant band with a supreme version of a very early Drifters track from the 50's, 'Fools Fall In Love' live on 'Weekend Wogan' BBC Radio 2 on Sunday, December 5th 2010. Gorgeous backing vocal and brass arrangement by Elio and masterfully performed by everyone. Terry sums it up for me "the best house band in the world" - couldn't agree more. The incredible variety and quality that Elio and his band display week after week LIVE on 'Weekend Wogan' and where he finds these pearls of songs that he does, is beyond me. Great songs that no-one hears, let alone performs anymore. Staggering effort all year and one that I'm sure hasn't gone unnoticed by millions of music lovers all over the world. The great Elio Pace and his brilliant band perform a phenomenal version of Willie Nelson's 'Funny How Time Slips Away' live on 'Weekend Wogan' BBC Radio 2 on Sunday, June 20th 2010. What a singer, what a pianist, what an arrangement, what a song. They've all been world-class but I think this is my personal favourite of all of Elio's performances on Weekend Wogan so far, although I reserve the right to change my mind! The great Elio Pace and his tremendous band with a joyful and dixie-fuelled fabulous version of the Elvis Presley yuletide classic 'Blue Christmas' live on 'Weekend Wogan' BBC Radio 2 on Sunday, December 19th 2010. We all know what a big Elvis fan Elio is, which is why it's even more amazing (and the mark of the great artist that he is) that he, once again, makes this song his own. He never tries to sound like Elvis and yet delivers a vocal with all the style and coolness of the King, showing heaps of respect for his idol. Elvis is somewhere sipping his sherry and enjoying a mince pie smiling down enjoying every minute of this wonderful performance. This was from the final show of the year and turned out to be the final 'Weekend Wogan' as we came to know and love it. For reasons best...

The great Elio Pace and his brilliant band with a rockin, infectiously groovy version of Elvis Presley's 'Bossa Nova Baby' live on 'Weekend Wogan' BBC Radio 2 on Sunday, July 18th 2010. WOW, does this move along beautifully. The rhythm section is smokin', the horns are once again funkier than any section I've heard for years (as a sax player myself, I'm so jealous) and the girls, well, they sound fantastic and look so sexy. And Elio's piano break at the end? Hot, yet so cool. There will only ever be one Elvis but this HAS to be the definitive live version of this song. I LOVE IT. Hear 'Tammy' at 16:03 I was so so sad to learn of Debbie Reynolds' death. Without a doubt she must have been destroyed by the death of her daughter, Carrie Fisher, the day before. How very cruel this life can be sometimes and when all is said and done, fame and fortune really do count for absolutely nothing in the great scheme of things. One of the most unforgettable highlights of my career so far was having the unbelievable pleasure of meeting, chatting to and then accompanying Debbie Reynolds as she sang her big hit 'Tammy' live on BBC Radio 2 on 'Weekend Wogan' in 2010. It was truly a thrill and a personal joy having the great Ronnie Corbett appear on 'Weekend Wogan' with us in June 2010. This is a song that I had had the pleasure of hearing him perform many times over the years during the tours I did with him as his special guest/opening act. This performance on Weekend Wogan would be the last time that I would see and work with him. Professionally and personally, Ronnie was one of the most brilliant, generous and kindest people I have ever met in this business. I feel absolutely humbled and honoured to have been able to call him a friend. TAKE YOU HOME
(Music & Words by Elio Pace) Copyright Control
We’ve been out and about
All day since half past two
And driving in my car is not what I’d planned to do
Well I think it’s time I told you babe in black and white
I can’t believe you wanna be alone tonight
So come on baby let me take you home
Back to my apartment
We’ll dance, we’ll have some fun
And when we’re through with dancing
Ooh Wee! That’s when the night’s begun
We can sit and talk the night away, it’s up to you
Or let me show I love you if you want me to
So come on baby let me take you home
Tonight, come back with me
We’ll leave a message for your ma and pa
To say where we’ll be
And if we find it gets late
Then I won’t even have to take you home
Stay the night
Now I’ve spoken my mind
And you know exactly how I feel
Don’t be shy now honey
You know I’ve got a heart for sale
Can’t you see it’s in the stars
The moon he says it’s right
The twinkle in your eye is setting me alight
So come on baby let me take you home
solo
repeat bridge
repeat last verse
I said sugar won’t you let me...
Woah, one more time
