Please, no: Glazed Conference tries to make gadgets sexy, fashionable
Despite looking like the kind of cheap prop you might see on the ancient original run of Doctor Who, Google Glass eyewear is apparently finding its way onto the catwalk at something called the Glazed Conference.
The Digital Fall fashion show which closed the conference saw Google Glass on models, a disastrous pairing which was apparently emblematic of a virulent trend in California's Silicon Valley.
"Entrepreneurs aren't those nerds living in a closet anymore... Anything that is technologically fascinating is sexy, and fashion is tied to that," said Glazed Conference organiser Redg Snodgrass. And of course there's nothing sexier than a self-described "cybertechnician" called Tyler Freeman sporting pants lined with sensors which let him play percussion beats by slapping various spots on his legs. Yes, this elaborate and clumsy self-flagellation is sure to attract, um... well, surely there's someone out there who it'll attract.
Apparently, the sensors "could be used to control PowerPoint presentations or Google Glass cameras with casual touches of a leg." Ooooh, sensual.
Read the nauseating report on the trend which will hopefully meet a swift, unceremonious death here.
