"Father In Exile" - A Snapshot Aesthetic Journal
"Father In Exile" - A Snapshot Aesthetic Journal
This short film was inspired by a late night (and early into Father's Day morning) discussion with Renetto about art, inspiration and a trend in fine art photography that started in the early sixties called 'snapshot aesthetic'. Admittedly, this isn't the most peppy of Father's Day videos... (I wish I didn't have this footage frankly) - But I hope you gain something from watching me embrace new ways to explore creativity and [maybe more importantly] pushing myself towards honest self-expression. Bottega Veneta - Art of Collaboration - Spring / Summer 2010
Nan Goldin has been a unique and influential force in photography and film for close to 40 years. Her photographs are emotional, intimate, often autobiographical, and always empathetic. She has described her early work in terms of a "snapshot aesthetic," an effort to preserve moments, faces, friends, and memories before they vanish in time. It was the palpable empathy that permeates Goldin's work that led Bottega Veneta Creative Director Tomas Maier to approach her for the recent campaign.

Aesthetic Science: Understanding Preferences for Color...
Aesthetic Science: Understanding Preferences for Color...
Google Tech Talks May 22, 2007 ABSTRACT Artists and graphic designers of all stripes continually face the problem of how to compose their works in aesthetically pleasing ways. Despite its importance and generality, the perceptual basis of aesthetic response has not been adequately studied. I will report the results of three projects that investigate people's aesthetic responses to spatial and color composition. Our results show strong, consistent preferences in the spatial composition of simple images containing familiar objects and configurations of objects in rectangular frames to be positioned at or near the center of the frame (the "center bias") and to face toward the center of the frame...

Abattoir Preview #1 (2008)
Here is a snapshot of Kaeja d'Dance's upcoming production, Abattoir. Set to premiere in Vancouver and Toronto in March, 2008, the excerpt demonstrates two exceptional dancers (Karen Kaeja & Robert Halley) diving into the partnering style that has been developed for this work. For more information on the show, please check out our website at www.kaeja.org, or read below for a more detailed description. (Excerpt shot by Hernan Morris & Allen Kaeja, Music by Edgardo Moreno) As Allen's visceral aesthetic meets Karen's liquid, sensual athleticism, they create a major new work full of depth and disturbing beauty. Dense with hard-edged kinetics, Abattoir combines the disciplines of dance, music, theatre and exquisite new opera vocals. Allen's vision of our capacity for innocence ignites this multi-disciplinary dance production. Shifting perception, intimate tension and eroding humanity challenge one's passage towards dignity. Abattoir features the company's world-class performers (Tanya Crowder, Robert Halley, Susan Lee, Ryan Lee, Allen Kaeja, Karen Kaeja, Tim Spronk, and Aaron Willis) in collaboration with the exceptional and fiery talents of new opera singer Fides Krucker, and composer Edgardo Moreno. Alternate concept: Geometric and Aesthetic
Alternate concept: Geometric and Aesthetic
This video shows one example of the "alternate" feature in Architecture Interactive. AI allows a user to visualize geometric and/or aesthetic design changes to an environment in real time. In this example, if you look closely you'll notice that we preformed both a geometric alternate and an aesthetic alternate. The orientation of the kitchen equipment rotated 90 degrees and the wall color changes. We could have chosen to do one or the other but in this case preformed both alternate options at the same time by using the "deselect" and "select all" option within the folder. Alternatively, just individual items can be selected and un-selected.

D4 "New Punk Fashions For The Spring Formal."
album: Situationist Comedy lyrics: This place feels like a catalog. I wonder if your close-ups taken too long. Would you like a snapshot for your mother, boy? I don't care. I don't want to know. It's never been a part of me. Just like a junkie fears the light of day, I wonder if it's just another role we play. Like a celebrity on minimum wage. I never understood. Never thought I should. It's never been a part of me. Still having nothing ain't a fucking blessing. Still it ain't a curse, though. 'cause I've known worse. So I'll just keep on wearing this old crown I found on the ground. Three cheers for anything holding us down. Watching as aesthetic over-powers the sound. Sort of like a martyr so proud of his picture. I don't want to know. Let it all go. It's never been a part of me. Your new found dreams are a nightmare. And I wonder if you even know, are you ready to be Davey to the new Goliath? Taking notes at your all-ages show. It's like the marketing department has finally figured out that 'The Pit' can always make more room. I'd love to sneer at the camera for your revolution, but I just can't afford the fucking costume. Are you scared to go outside? Will it cut you down to size? Where's the do or die? It's staring you in the eye...

Günter Westphal Photo Exhibit - In A Berlin Minute (Week 06) [HD]
This week I took another trip to the countryside north-west of Hamburg to visit my parents. The opening of my dad's photography exhibit entitled "Wiesenkerbel und Wasserlilie" took place a few weeks ago already (the same day I shot the footage of the St. Pauli celebrations featured in GNYB - Week 2), but it was just this week that I made it back to Haselau to see my dad again and get access to his original photos. If you speak German, you can read a bit more about my dad, Günter Westphal, and his art work, which he splits into two categories: photography and aesthetic work in social* and public areas: www.muenzviertel.de/kunst_guenterwestphal.html The speech was given by Hajo Schiff, who has spoken at others of my dad's openings and also written at least one preface to one of his publications. The quote in the video is by Raoul Hausmann and very loosely translates to: "But if the photograph of a landscape is supposed to be something else than just a postcard, then it's essential to not just take a snapshot is passing but to have experienced the change of the landscape, the kind of growth, its morning and afternoon character and much more. Because seeing is not just a casual glance. Seeing is much more often watching. A direction of all senses expresses itself in this watching, and from this direction the artist pulls his energy of creation. And, as far as it is possible with technical, mechanical means, even the photographer." And in case you're wondering, yes, the ...

Video made using the latest technology - Microsoft Video Maker. www.soundcloud.com www.twitter.com www.facebook.com www.beatport.com itunes.apple.com www.traxsource.com Compilation Reviews A million thanks for this!! Plenty of great deephouse funkyness in there for me to play Lovin it !!!!!! (Laurent Garnier) I love the output on this label, once again Danny has put together a bangin selection of beats and I cant wait to play them out. (Karizma) By the sound of the producers on the Guild of Synchronists, Altered Natives is rebuilding the world of house and broken beat and everything in between in his own image. Hyperdub (Kode 9) Fresh, forward thinking and ambitiously curated by Altered Natives (Mary Anne Hobbs) Nice varied bag of real twisted uk house! a strong unified aesthetic coming through. my favourites are the El Sudor and Funksta tunes, and that Misery Peat one is nutty as well. Night Slugs (Bok Bok) It's a great snapshot of how varied and exiting bass/whatever music is at the moment. Favourites I'm gonna play straight away are "Charge" - Love the brutal Detroit vibes on that... Also feeling "Hermit" Hemlock (Untold) It's wicked man, loving the misery peat, yours and the dd black cuts the most Hoya:Hoya (Illum Sphere) Misery Peat and El Sudor bits are really nice , played both on Rinse - great future sounds Rinse FM (Oneman)
