A Gender Agenda is a grassroots community organisation and relies on our membership base to continue our work.

AGA supports the community in a number of ways, including;

• Maintaining an informative website, and collection of books
• Advocating for the rights of transgender, intersex and genderqueer people
• Promoting good health to both consumers and providers, including access and appropriate care
• Facilitating and supporting a diverse range of sex and gender related support groups
• Providing education and training for community organisations, educational institutions and employers
• Representing the needs of Canberra’s trans, intersex and genderqueer communities in the National LGBT Health Alliance

There are two different ways that you can be involved.

Participate informally

You can participate informally by signing up to one of our email lists, or coming along to one of our support groups. To be involved at this level you do not need to provide us with any information about yourself apart from your email address. There is no cost involved.

Once you sign up you can continue:

• access a number of peer support groups
• access a number of peer support email lists
• access our events email list to be notified of upcoming A Gender Agenda events
• have the opportunity to take part in a wide variety of rewarding and interesting volunteer roles/activities

Join A Gender Agenda as Member

A Gender Agenda is an incorporated Association in the ACT. To be a member you need to give us your name and address (This is required by the Associations Incorporation Act 1991) and you also need to pay an annual membership fee.

Please note that although we are required by law to collect your name and address, we respect that this information is highly confidential and will ensure that it is not available to anyone except our membership and finance person.

The membership fees we charge you go directly to helping us maintain our services to the community. It is only through maintaining a membership base that we are able to continue representing the needs of the Sex and Gender Diverse community to community organisations, government departments, medical professionals and so on.

Members get all the benefits of participating informally
PLUS YOU CAN ALSO:

• access an additional email list for members only
• borrow books, films and music from our Gender Library
• Receive priority access and discounts at special events
• Receive invitations to special member-only events
• Have a say in the future direction and priorities of the organisation by voting at member meetings including the AGM
• Stand for election as a member of the Organising Committee

Membership fees

A Gender Agenda understand that the sex and gender diverse community suffer a disproportionate level of financial hardship, and have decided on a flat rate of $5 per year for our individual membership fee. If you are in a financial position to support A Gender Agenda's work, we would greatly appreciate any donation you might make at the time of applying for membership.

Organisational Memberships are also available, and we charge $25 per annum for organisations to join.
