Queensland Transgender, Sistergirl and Gender Diverse Conference

The Queensland Transgender, Sistergirl and Gender Diverse Conference was held in Cairns from 24th - 25th August 2012. It attracted over 160 delegates including sex and gender diverse community members, medical practitioners and mental health professionals from all around the country (and the world).

A Gender Agenda was represented at the conference by Peter Hyndal and Jennie Yates. We participated in a formal capacity in a number of panel discussions, and also presented a couple of papers - on the role of health practitioners, and the outcomes of our social inclusion project. In addition, Peter was also invited to deliver the opening keynote address. (PDF)

The conference was inspiring - it provided a tangible sense of the maturity and momentum that has developed within our movement. Thank you to the organisers who put so much work into creating a positive and respectful place for such constructive dialogue. All of us at A Gender Agenda are looking forward to a follow up conference in 2013.
