WCAU - 360 Music Theme - Long Close
From a 7pm one night after they adopted the new graphics. They ran short, so we're treated to this amazingly long close fudged together from a couple of cuts. (HD) WCAU - 2011 - NBC 10 News at 7pm
In November of 2010, WCAU launched its own 24/7 local content channel, "NBC Philadelphia Nonstop". The centerpiece of the channel is an hour-long 7pm newscast. NBC 10 is touting this as the "region's first" 7pm news, but I imagine new owners Comcast would have a bone to pick with that - not that anyone remembers CN8 News anyway, but I digress.

Some miscellaneous news promos, clips, and openings from WCAU and WNBC in Philadelphia and New York from 1998. Both stations were received through a central New Jersey cable system that carried the stations from both the NYC and Philadelphia markets.
It's interesting how dissimilar these two O&Os; were at the time. WCAU was a flashy, in-your-face operation that emphasized style and presentation, with a fairly new anchor team. WNBC was far more sedate, with a very basic news presentation and New York institutions, Chuck Scarborough and Sue Simmons, anchoring. Both stations were very successful: WCAU was making gains on the competition while WNBC was entrenched as number one.
Unfortunately, thanks in part to NBC's homogenization of station branding, the stations look much more similar. They've also faced deep ratings declines thanks in part to cutbacks and NBC's putrid primetime schedules.
2013 EDIT: As of 2013, the stations are clearly differentiated once again, thanks to Comcast. 10 has returned to its old aggressiveness, albeit in a new format that emphasizes their large reporting staff. Meanwhile, 4 has returned to a more traditional look, albeit without Sue Simmons. Both stations are using the same graphics package as a base, but while 4 is using the basic look, 10 has modified it into essentially a new custom package.
wn.com/Wcau Wnbc 1998 A Study In Contrasts

Due to the Winter Storm on January 26, 10 simulcast the 7pm news on the main channel, giving me my first and probably only chance to get these opens and bumpers in HD. (NBC's O&Os;, including WCAU, are in the process of launching a new, simpler look.) The one notable difference is the anchor lineup - normally it's Lori Wilson solo, but here Tim and Renee helm the desk.
I've included a number of promotions and plugs for the station, including a "You're Watching NBC Philadelphia Nonstop" bumper - I don't think it aired in error because I'm pretty sure this was simulcast.

From the now NBC-owned WCAU in Philadelphia, Here are some clips from the Channel 10 News at 11pm. Featuring Arthur Fennell in for Larry Kane, Diane Allen, and Herbe Clarke with weather. Recovered from the defunct collection of phillyvideofan.
This was around the time that the station got a new look by changing its colors from Red and White to Blue and Yellow, and in the process, got new graphics and a refreshed set.
