Novak Majstorovic, 19, destroyed the Ascot Vale Uniting Church after being seduced by the lyrics of neo-nazi Scandinavian band Burzum inciting followers to burn down churches.

The band’s lead singer, Varg Vikernes, was jailed for the murder of another death metal musician, and a series of arson attacks on churches in Norway in the 1990s.

The County Court heard Majstorovic caused $3 million damage to the 1896 church in Maribyrnong Rd, Moonee Ponds after setting fire to a Bible on the pulpit on August 29 last year.

Describing the arson as a terrible hate crime, County Court Judge Jeanette Morrish said Majstorovic had shown little remorse when he was arrested.

He told police his actions were a “drunken vision” inspired by his anti-Christian ideology.

“I can’t escape the repercussions and there’s no sense in feeling sorry,” he said.

The court heard Majstorovic, of St Albans, drank half a bottle of bourbon at a party before telling friends he was on a mission. “I’m going to burn down the church,” he told them.

Two days later Majstorovic admitted he was the arsonist when a friend showed him a report of the fire in the Herald Sun.

Police secretly recorded a confession and he later pleaded guilty in court to one count each of burglary and arson.

The 1896 church has not been rebuilt and parishioners now attend St Paul’s Anglican Church in Ascot Vale.

Judge Morrish said Majstorovic had harboured thoughts of destroying the church for a long time and had carried a box of matches with him to the party before the attack.

“This has all the hallmarks of a terrible hate crime with no remorse . . . I am really, really horrified by it,” she said.

Despite his earlier lack of contrition, Majstorovic had since written a letter of apology, which was tendered to court.

Judge Morrish said she was satisfied his recent expression of regret was sincere and he had reasonable prospects for rehabilitation.

She ordered a DNA sample be taken, but rejected an application for compensation, warning Majstorovic he could be sued in the civil courts for the damage bill.

A reader writes to inform us that Burzum are not death metal, but black metal. He also says that while the man behind Burzum (whom inspired Majstorovic) was a neo-Nazi, this was not necessarily reflected in Burzum’s lyrics.

Sue Bateman â€” aka Suebdoo2 â€” was summoned to an internal inquiry at the weekend and asked to explain why her internet pseudonym is all over Stormfrontâ€™s racist website chat room.

Last week, Ms Bateman agreed she was Suebdoo2 on her One Nation website, in her emails and on other discussion forums, but denied she was the Suebdoo2 on Stormfront â€” a site which carries the White Pride logo â€” despite some amazing coincidences.
â€œThat isnâ€™t me,â€? she said. â€œI know nothing about this Stormfront.â€? But today IC can reveal what could be the smoking gun in the Suebdoo2 mystery. A profile of the Stormfront member who posts regularly as Suebdoo2 is almost identical to details given in Sue Batemanâ€™s personal profile on her own One Nation website. â€œInterests: Politics, computers,â€? the Stormfront memberâ€™s profile reads. â€œOccupation: Financial controller.â€? On her One Nation profile, Ms Bateman writes that her occupation is a financial controller and her interests are in â€œpolitics and websitesâ€?.

Black, who has been complaining a lot lately about the dwindling contributions to his racist enterprise, was more adamant than usual as he posted his concerns. Obviously unhappy about the lack of funds and lack of interest in anything of substance, the racist pal of David Duke said that there was so little enthusiasm over the Scholarship Fund that they had started last year that he told the â€œprimary benefactors to keep their money.â€?

Don Blackâ€™s association with David Duke and Jamie Kelso may very well signal his undoing. After signing the New Orleans Protocol last year, Stormfront supporters were met with heavy handed moderation on the boards as Black and friends attempted to present a more mainstream public face. In many ways, this backfired on Black. Several staunch supporters left the rank and file for places where they felt more comfortable.

Those who remain largely support the David Duke entourage and one must wonder if this was all by design. David Duke and Jamie Kelso supported a coup, earlier this year, to bring the one time premier hate group, the National Alliance, to its knees. That coup, led by Kevin Alfred Strom, has had some successful results.

Given the rapid decline in membership of the National Alliance, and the inability of Stormfront to generate the kind of funds necessary to keep it afloat, the question that arises is one regarding the influence regarding the David Duke camp. Whether or not Stormfront â€“ or as some are now calling it, Stromfront â€“ will survive, seems not so important as is why it is in trouble.

Of course, it is important to note that every so often Stormfront engages in fund-raising, however, the dire condition has not ever been so stressed as the current financial status is being articulated â€“ and certainly never with the disgust expressed by its revered leader. That is probably due to the fact that several of the previous companies used by Black for credit card payments of contributions have pulled out because of their racism and anti-Semitic stance. Black addressed the issue in his private Sustaining Members forum telling them of the cancellations and stating, â€œSadly, neither Google nor their several dozen competitors are likely to accept us as customers.â€?

And holding firm on his stance against other groups, Black claimed that most of the â€œMovementâ€? companies donâ€™t have much money and even those who do he wouldnâ€™t want to be associated with. It will be interesting to see if Stormfront will succumb to the Stromfront that has waged what might be considered an underhanded attack on the racist internet giant.

Whilst their American counterparts spend their time killing judges and threatening anti-racists, things in Australia have been rather slow.

It’s always a bit confusing but at present, there appear to be a few denominational splits. On one hand you have the ever reliable ‘Reverend’ Patrick O’Sullivan from Melbourne. Reverend Patty is considered to be a downright freaking lunatic (and that is what his fellow white nationalists say about him). Previously incarcerated for stabbing a fellow bonehead, Patty now spends his time getting booted out of inner city Melbourne pubs and then bragging about it online.

Judging by the amount of people who are prepared to stick their hand up and declare themselves to be friends of Patrick, it appears his Creativity Movement is basically a one man show though he continually claims official support from head office in the US.

There is another group of Klassenites operating from South Australia under the banner of the White Crusaders of the RAHOWA (racial holy war). This group is led by Colin Campbell.

WN’s being WN’s and Reverend Patrick being …well…being his usual antagonistic self – there is a fair bit of tension between these two groups (provided you can label Patty as a ‘group’). New Zealand’s Dylan Luke Jensen (ORIOR14) has thrown his lot in with the WCOTR and has been engaging in a ding-dong email shitfight with Pat:

See, publicly – Lailoken has been making statements that Terror Fest is “just about the music”, yet privately he was singing a different tune.

For those unfamiliar with the work of FDB, we do a lot of online intelligence gathering. It’s amazing what falls into your lap when you know where to look.

For the record, FDB never said anything about Darkim being a racist band, we said that they have made some anti-racist statements on some web forums.

Also, talk of Baal Gadrial hating “everything nothing specific” is a bullshit cop-out. They hate Jews, Christians, Muslims, Africans, Asians and all those other ‘lesser races’ most certainly. Perhaps they do hate all those groups equally. However, they clearly do no hate non-Christian white people. They love their fellow white pagans and well, good luck to them in that respect.

They don’t hate everything and everyone equally – they just hate everyone outside of their ethno-religious group.

Anyway, talk about a red-rag to a bull. You can’t go making statements like “it will surely be rife with National Socialists” and not expect a reaction.

It’s certainly no secret that neo-Nazi and associated white supremacist groups make a habit of recruiting youth at music oriented events. Our sources in the Canberra music scene (and we’re talking people who have a history going back twenty years or more) reliably informed us that the liklihood of racist elements putting in a heavy presence at this event and using it to recruit was highly bloody likely. Hell, the organiser even stated that the place would be ‘rife’ with them.

Judging by the fact he signed his email off with “14/88″ indicates that he would be fairly complicit to any racist machinations taking place at the Terror Fest.

(’14′ = David Lane’s 14 words “We must secure the existence of our people and a future for White children” and ’88′ is code for “Heil Hitler”, ‘H’ being the eighth letter of the alphabet)

Based on the information you have read above, do you really think any venue, uni bar or otherwise would desire to have their premises “rife with National Socialists” (ie Nazis)?

We think not.

The Terror Fest was not canned as a result of pressure from anti-racist groups or because of the Uni bar being unfairly tough on metal. The Terror Fest came unstuck because in this day and age, no-one wants to do business with organised racists, let alone people who go around saying “Heil Hitler.”

The key to this not happening again is ensuring that someone without an inclination to sign his emails off with “1488″ take some ownership of the scene and make it JUST ABOUT THE MUSIC.

Bye bye, Baal Gadrial

This just in.

Baal Gadrial are OFF the bill at ANU.

More info to come later, but it would appear that ANU forced the issue with Mr. Lailoken. This event is to be about the music and nothing more.

We will continue to investigate this event, and in particular, the promoter.

FDB would also like acknowledge that most of the bands are definately NOT racist. In particular Darkim stood out as taking a stand against racism on some online forums, and we have been contacted by the management of Leicohtica to state that they are most definately not a racist band. We wish these guys the best of luck.

We recieved an SOS this morning from a Canberran FDB’er in relation to a possible hate-metal gig taking place at the Australian National University union bar on October 1st.

Here is where things get iffy. Metal is a varied genre and at the more extreme end things get confusing. Death metal usually focuses on morbid subjects like death, disease, pestilence – four horseman kinda stuff. Black metal is a slightly different kettle of fish with bands taking a more occult and pagan angle with their music.

Nothing wrong with that. Different strokes for different folks.

Where we at Fight dem back do feel there is cause for concern is where some black metal bands inject a racist dimension into their music.

Take the headlining act of the Terror Fest for example.

Baal Gadrial are a NSW based black metal band who seemingly have a fondness for burning Jewish symbols at their gigs. Take these interview quotes for example:

Who is in charge of putting this gig on and why would they book a racist band?

The person in charge of organising this event goes by the pseudonymn of Lailoken.

That’s his “Vampire Profile” above. In it you can see that he prefers to keep his real name secret because he has “a lot of views that scare many people.” His favourite bands include ‘Gestapo SS’ and ‘Zyklon B’. He also states on that profile that he runs the Terror Fest gigs.

As a sideliner, Lailoken runs a fairly thrifty importation business known as Pagan Lands Media.

Lailoken also runs the Canberra Metal forums. That profile features a link to his one man band, Deanach Turas.

The ‘ideals’ of this ‘band’ are indeed the sort of thing that would “scare a lot of people.”

Dude – nothing wrong with a tenth generation Australian being proud of their Irish heritage but when issues of supremacy over ‘lesser races’ come into it and blatant calls for violence against people who believe in equality come into play – Fight dem back steps in.

I’m sure our resident Irish pride man, SharpenUP, will have plenty to say on this issue. Sharpie speaks a bit of Gaelic, attends his local Celtic games, drinks Kilkenny and takes a deep interest in Irish history and culture. Does he thereby hate other races by default? No he doesn’t.

Fight dem back has been in contact with the ANU Student Union with relation to this event. Despite the fact that only the headline act of that gig is openly racist, we feel that the funds generated from such a venture will be funnelled back into racist causes.

Fight dem back feels that this gig should go ahead provided Baal Gadrial are struck from the bill and provided no profits from the venture find their way into Lailoken’s pockets.

But when confronted by Inside Cover yesterday, the would-be politician turned a straight forward case of whodunit into the sort of spooky mystery Shaggy and Scooby would quiver over.

IC: Do you post messages on the White Pride racist website called Stormfront?

Readers, weâ€™ll start where every classic yarn starts, at the beginning.

On the WA One Nation website Sueâ€™s email address is suebdoo2@hotmail.com and when a concerned community member noticed the name suebdoo2 posting messages all over Stormfront â€” a site used by neo-nazis â€” alarm bells rang. Stormfront is home to the sort of people who call themselves “Jackboot” and promote the Swastika and other racist sites like muslimsout.org. One way to get to it was via Sue Batemanâ€™s personal website courtesy of a link on her home page. But when IC asked her why she would want to lead people to such an extremist propaganda site, she was flabbergasted. â€œYouâ€™re joking?â€? she said. â€œI know nothing about this Stormfront,â€? she insisted.

IC: But thereâ€™s a suebdoo2 who lives in WA, is a woman and posts messages on it regularly?

Sue: That isnâ€™t me.

IC moved on to coincidence number two.

IC: Do you use an image of a blue rose on your One Nation website?

Sue: That image would be available to anyone else.

IC: Because the same image accompanies every post on Stormfront by suebdoo2.

Sue: Whatâ€™s this website called?

And so on we go to coincidence number three. Another website titled onlineopinion.com features a raft of postings by suebdoo2 which seem to closely mirror the views of the suebdoo2 on Stormfront. But IC didnâ€™t tell Sue that when we asked her if she was a regular poster on any website. â€œIâ€™m just an everyday person,â€? she said. â€œI communicate between friends. There is a university forum Iâ€™ve commented once or twice on.â€? Try 30 times in the past three months, including this on August 31. â€œAs soon as a â€˜white personâ€™ verbally protects his culture, upon his tolerance and charity to others, he is branded a RACIST,â€? she wrote. â€œWe need to be more aware than ever about what the definition of racist is in the Oxford Dictionary.â€?

IC: Would it be a problem for you within One Nation if the suebdoo2 on Stormfront was you?

Sue: My policy is one nation, one people. I donâ€™t want to be tied in with that sort of thing â€” nazis.

Within 30 minutes of ICâ€™s conversation with Sue, her One Nation website, complete with link to the racist Stormfront, was gone. â€œIâ€™m concerned because I had a virus a couple of months ago and now it seems thereâ€™s been a security breach,â€? she complained. â€œSomeone must have been muckinâ€™ around with me bloody website.â€? Thatâ€™s something IC discovered Sue knows plenty about. This is what she wrote in an email to the person behind a Perth website which despises racism. â€œI have plenty of time between three jobs and a family and I always put in the effort,â€? she wrote. â€œNow, I work this computer big time when I get a hold of it and I will return religiously to this site as well as recommend it to my associates.â€? Wonder which associates sheâ€™s talking about?

We won’t claim responsibility for this. Oh. Ok we will :) . We didn’t directly contact Gary Adshead, but we know who did. Oops. Did FDB just ended another a racists’ political career.?

No, not really. The racists make their own bed and facilitate the circumstances for their own downfall. This most certainly isn’t the first time a far-right politician has been brought undone by posting on Stormfront, see what happened to Doug Hanks.

Mr Wiesenthal helped bring more than 1100 Nazi criminals to justice, according to the Simon Wiesenthal Center, which did not give the cause of death.

Rabbi Marvin Hier, dean and founder of the Los Angeles-based center, described Wiesenthal as “the conscience of the Holocaust”.

Mr Wiesenthal was the world’s most intrepid hunter of Nazi war criminals, bringing more than a thousand to trial in a global campaign to ensure no one forgot the horror of Adolf Hitler’s treatment of the Jews.

* Those he helped to catch included major figures such as Adolf Eichmann, one of Hitler’s chief henchmen in the campaign to exterminate Jews, and Franz Stangl, ex-commandant of the Treblinka death camp.

* He told Reuters on his 75th birthday in 1983 that he could never rest until he had hunted down the last of the great living killers of the Third Reich â€“ “Angel of Death” Josef Mengele and former SS Colonel Walter Rauff.

* Rauff died of cancer aged 77 in Chile in May 1984, but Mr Wiesenthal went on searching for Mengele until in June 1985 a body exhumed in Brazil was identified as that of the man Mr Wiesenthal said exterminated 400,000 Jews, half of them children, as doctor at Auschwitz concentration camp in Poland.

* When Hitler attacked Russia in 1941 Mr Wiesenthal was among millions of Jews forced into concentration camps. Altogether the Nazis were estimated to have murdered 11 million civilians, including six million Jews.

* Mr Wiesenthal spent four and a half years during World War Two in German concentration camps, including Buchenwald in Bavaria and Mauthausen in Austria. He slashed his wrists in a suicide attempt during this period to avoid torture. Some 89 members of his own family were killed by the Nazis.

* Mr Wiesenthal was born on December 31, 1908, son of a wealthy Jewish businessman at Buczacz in Galicia, a province of the Austro-Hungarian empire with a large Jewish population. He attended elementary school in Vienna and high school in Buczacz.

* Asked why he spent his life hunting Nazis, he once said: “I am not a practising Jew. But I do believe.”

* In 1961 Mr Wiesenthal founded the Jewish Documentation Centre in Vienna which, helped by branches around the world and a network of former concentration camp inmates, was devoted to tracking down Nazis who escaped trial.

* Established in 1977, the Simon Wiesenthal Centre is an international Jewish human rights organisation dedicated to preserving the memory of the Holocaust by fostering tolerance and understanding through community involvement, educational outreach and social action, its website says.
