Tales of the Vampires

Tales of the Vampires is a five issue American comic book limited series (later collected in a single trade paperback), published by Dark Horse Comics and set in the Buffyverse. It comprises an anthology of short stories written by Joss Whedon, Jane Espenson, Ben Edlund, and Drew Goddard. Each story tells the tale of one or more Buffyverse vampires, and the otherwise unrelated collection is strung together by a bridging story written by Whedon.

The anthology is presented as a series of stories told by an ancient vampire to a group of young Watchers. Tales of the Vampires is the tale of that storytelling session and functions as a bridge among the other items in the anthology. The stories in this series are generally considered to be an official part of the Buffyverse canon.

Dark Horse published a new one-shot special based on the Tales of the Vampires concept by Becky Cloonan, Vasilis Lolos, Gabriel Bá and Fabio Moon in June 2009. Specifically, this one-shot is a tie-in with the Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season Eight storyline following "Harmonic Divergence" in which vampires become very popular with the public at large.

Tales (series)

The Tales series, known in Japan as the Tales of series (「テイルズ オブ」シリーズ, "Teiruzu Obu" Shirīzu), is a franchise of fantasy Japanese role-playing video games published by Bandai Namco Entertainment (formerly Namco), and developed by its subsidiary, Namco Tales Studio until 2011 and presently by Bandai Namco. First begun in 1995 with the development and release of Tales of Phantasia for the Super Famicom, the series currently spans sixteen main titles, multiple spin-off games and supplementary media in the form of manga series, anime series, and audio dramas.

While entries in the series generally stand independent of each other with different characters and stories, they are commonly linked by their gameplay, themes and high fantasy settings. The series is characterized by its art style, which draws from Japanese manga and anime, and its action-based fighting system called the "Linear Motion Battle System". Multiple people have become linked with the series, including character designers Kōsuke Fujishima and Mutsumi Inomata, producers Hideo Baba and Makoto Yoshizumi, and composer Motoi Sakuraba. The series was created by Yoshiharu Gotanda.

Les Vampires

Les Vampires is a 1915–16 French silent crime serial film written and directed by Louis Feuillade. Set in Paris, it stars Édouard Mathé, Musidora and Marcel Lévesque. The main characters are a journalist and his friend who become involved in trying to uncover and stop a bizarre underground Apache gang, known as The Vampires (who are not the mythological beings their name suggests). The serial consists of ten episodes, which vary greatly in length. Being roughly 7 hours long, it is considered one of the longest films ever made. It was produced and distributed by Feuillade's company Gaumont. Due to its stylistic similarities with Feuillade's other crime serials Fantômas and Judex, the three are often considered a trilogy.

Fresh from the success of Feuillade's previous serial, Fantômas, and facing competition from rival company Pathé, Feuillade made the film quickly and inexpensively with very little written script. Upon its initial release Les Vampires was given negative reviews by critics for its dubious morality and its lack of cinematic techniques compared to other films. However, it was a massive success with its wartime audience, making Musidora a star of French cinema. The film has since come under re-evaluation and is considered by many to be Feuillade's magnum opus and a cinematic masterpiece. It is recognised for developing thriller techniques, adopted by Alfred Hitchcock and Fritz Lang, and avant-garde cinema, inspiring Luis Buñuel and others. It is included in the book 1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die.

The Vampires (manga)

The Vampires (バンパイヤ, Banpaiya) is a manga by Osamu Tezuka that began published weekly during 1966 to 1967.

Plot

Toppei Tachibana, a mysterious teenager, visited Mushi Production and persuaded its president, Osamu Tezuka to let him work at his studio. But later Tezuka discovered that Toppei is more than he seen: he is a Vampire, which is a species that can transform from humans to a variety of animals, and he is a werewolf. Toppei came to Tokyo to search for his father, Professor Tachibana. After Toppei accidentally murdered Professor Atami, an old friend of Tezuka, Rokuro Makube, an evil teenager who is also the butler for Mika Onishi, blackmailed Tezuka to control Toppei to his advantages.

Meanwhile, Toppei's vampire community was planning a revolution against normal humans, and Rock sided with them to help him to manipulate the world. As chaos threatened the world, Toppei, Tezuka and Toppei's younger brother Chippei must work together to stop the vampires.

Characters

Maciste contro il vampiro

Maciste contro il vampiro (internationally released as Maciste Vs. the Vampire, Goliath and the Island of Vampires, Goliath and the Vampires and The Vampires) is a 1961 Italian fantasy-peplum film directed by Sergio Corbucci and Giacomo Gentilomo. It was noticed that the visual style of the film was inspired by Mario Bava's films.

Wild East Productions released this on a limited edition DVD in 2007 in a double feature with Goliath and the Barbarians.

Reception

Gordon Scott's performance has been evaluated as "above average" in comparison to other contemporary genre flics.
