John Sebastian Live! Jul 21, 1970 "Darling Be Home Soon"
On July 21st 1970, Bill Graham presented John Sebastian, performing what turned out to be a primarily solo electric set, sandwiched between outstanding performances by New Orleans' legendary Preservation Hall Jazz Band and Chicago at the creative peak of their original lineup. Following the dissolution of The Lovin' Spoonful, Sebastian received an unexpected kick-start to his solo career, when he became an unscheduled performer on the first day of the legendary Woodstock festival the previous summer. Two of his songs, "I Had A Dream" and "Rainbows All Over Your Blues," seemed to capture the atmosphere of that moment perfectly and his appearance in the Woodstock movie and the soundtrack album releases catapulted Sebastian into one of the most recognized singer-songwriters of 1970. Earlier that year he could be found living in a tent on The Grateful Dead's ranch, writing new songs that would eventually comprise his first solo album. As is obvious from photos of that era, Sebastian took a fancy to the Dead family's tie-dyed amplifier grilles and clothing, which he would embrace as his own colorful uniform. Following his memorable experience at Woodstock, Sebastian continued performing solo, often as an opening act for Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. He struck a solo deal with Reprise Records and began work on his first album, sessions for which featured the talents of Crosby, Stills, Nash and their drummer Dallas Taylor, as well as stellar musicians like Harvey Brooks, Buzzy ...

JOHN SEBASTIAN - WELCOME BACK 1976 (Audio Enhanced)
"Welcome Back" is a popular record that was the theme song of the 1970s American television sitcom Welcome Back, Kotter. Written and recorded by former Lovin' Spoonful frontman John Sebastian, it reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for one week in May 1976 after only five weeks on the chart (the show itself had become an instant ratings success upon its premiere the previous Fall). The song also topped the Easy Listening chart and reached number 93 on the Country chart.

Celebration At Big Sur Part 1
BIG SUR Calif. 1969 A musical documentary of the 1969 Big Sur Folk Festival, filmed in a chaotic style reminiscent of Woodstock. It features performances by Joan Baez, John Sebastian, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, and the Combs Sisters. Some of the finest folk singers and musicians in the world positioned themselves on the edge of some of America's most glorious scenery for a farewell to summer and a celebration of nonviolence in mid-September. It was the sixth annual Big Sur Folk Festival. The festival, held on the tree-shaded lawns of Esalen, also differed from other recent celebrations in that here the "scene" did not eclipse the music, but merely served as a complement. According to its producers, Nancy Carlen and Paula Kates, Big Sur was designed as a "performers festival," an opportunity for artists to come together after a hectic summer on the festival circuit for some peace and solitude. Crosby Stills Nash and Young played the final set, as on Saturday, repeatedly bringing the thinning crowd to it's feet. For a finale - with the audience pushed forward around the pool, closer to the performers now - everyone at the festival reprised "Oh Happy Day".

Being John Sebastian Bach
Igudesman & Joo with John Malkovich - BEING JOHN SEBASTIAN BACH is an encore of the project "The Music Critic" premiered at Julian Rachlin & Friends festival 2010. A further extract from "The Music Critic" will be available on YouTube soon. THE MUSIC CRITIC Schumann fancies himself a "composer" while Brahms is a gift-less bastard and Debussy is simply ugly. Igudesman has created a sardonic melange of the most evil original music critiques of the last centuries many of them written about some of the greatest works of chamber music. Malkovich slips into the role of the evil music critic, who believes the music of Beethoven, Chopin, Ravel and the like to be weary and dreary, while Julian Rachlin and other great musicians beg to differ. Music by Bach, Piazzolla, Beethoven, Brahms, Chopin, Debussy, Ravel, Kanchelli, Prokofiev, Schumann and Igudesman. www.rachlinandfriends.com

Darling Be Home Soon - Lovin' Spoonful
Classic song, man. Classic song. By the by - I've been hoping for some suggestions of songs. So if have suggestions of songs by any artists just comment in one of my videos and I'll try to get it up. Thanks, Des. Lyrics: Come And talk of all the things we did today Here And laugh about our funny little ways While we have a few minutes to breathe Then I know that it's time you must leave But darling be home soon I couldn't bear to wait an extra minute if you dawdled My darling be home soon It's not just these few hours but I've been waiting since I toddled For the great relief of having you to talk to And now A quarter of my life is almost past I think I've come to see myself at last And I see that the time spent confused Was the time that I spent without you And I feel myself in bloom So darling be home soon I couldn't bear to wait an extra minute if you dawdled My darling be home soon It's not just these few hours but I've been waiting since I toddled For the great relief of having you to talk to ------ instrumental break ------ Darling be home soon I couldn't bear to wait an extra minute if you dawdled My darling be home soon It's not just these few hours but I've been waiting since I toddled For the great relief of having you to talk to Go And beat your crazy head against the sky Try And see beyond the houses and your eyes It's ok to shoot the moon So darling My darling be home soon I couldn't bear to wait an extra minute if you dawdled My darling be home soon It's not ...
