 Statement by Alternative Libertaire This statement is in response to the huge police raid carried out at 6.00am in the Villiers-le-Bel suburb of Paris on Monday 18 February. The raid involved 1,000 policemen searching for 38 people suspected of rioting. [ Français]

On 22 May 2013, dozens of policemen from the anti-terrorism division of the federal criminal police in Brussels raided and searched the homes of 3 anarchist and anti-authoritarian comrades as well as the "Acrata" anarchist bookshop. All those found on the premises (11 in total) were arrested and brought to the federal police station. They are charged with belonging to a terrorist organization, conspiracy and arson. At around 1 pm they were all released without having to appear in court. [French] Alternative Libertaire denounces the government's xenophobic policy with regard to Tunisian immigrants and to migrants in general, and the violent methods of the French police against them and their supporters. [Français] We denounce police cooperation between countries of the European Union and Turkey. We demand the immediate release of Kurds arrested in France on 26 February, and a stop to all proceedings against them. [Français] Once again, capitalist society happily violates its own legality in the affair being known as the "anarcho-autonomous movement", following the arrest of 10 people as part of an investigation into "acts of sabotage" on SNCF railway lines: the presumption of innocence blithely ignored; the use of ultra-repressive measures provided for by anti-terrorist legislation in a case which is evidently nothing to do with terrorism; charges of criminal association on the basis of a mere collection of political documents without any concrete facts to back up this "evidence"! Over these last few days several towns in the Val-d'Oise have been witnessing confrontations between local youths and the police. The death of two teenagers, Larami and Moushin, on Sunday 25th November in Villiers-le-Bel following the collision between their motorbike and a police car started the reaction. [ Français ]
On Friday 10th November four militants, Jean-Pascal, Reda, Valentin and Pierre-Louis were sentenced by the court in Aix-en-Provence. All four were accused of "rebellion" and "violence towards members of the police force in the performance of their duties" during events as part of the anti-CPE movement.
OAE supports completely the anarchocommunist federation of France Alternative Libertaire in one of most direct repression cases that this organisation has suffered by the French state
Today, Alternative libertaire is the target of a repression unusual in scope and timing: in less than 3 weeks, 6 AL activists have been targeted. Each time, the link has been the same: the challenge to State racism and antisocial policy, whose latest avatar is the so-called “Law of Chance Equality”, known by its French acronym CPE. This law generated 12 weeks of exemplary social struggle that ended with the CPE's withdrawal. Today, the State wants Alternative libertaire to pay for the role it played in the strikes and blockades.
This is the third time in five days that an Alternative Libertaire member has been the victim of police repression.
At the end of the Paris demonstration against the CPE on 18th March, SUD-PTT militant Cyril Ferez was violently beaten by French riot cops. Cyril was grabbed during a charge and was trampled on by the police.
