Johann Eduard Hari (born 21 January 1979) is a British former journalist who was a columnist at The Independent and The Huffington Post, and contributed to several other publications, before, in 2011, admitting to plagiarism. He was suspended from The Independent and surrendered his 2008 Orwell Prize. He admitted making Wikipedia edits under a pseudonym to attack people he had disputes with, and said he would undergo training in journalism ethics. In 2012 he announced he would not return to The Independent and that he was writing a book.

Hari was born in Glasgow and raised in London. He attended John Lyon School, (an independent school affiliated to Harrow School) and then Woodhouse College, a state sixth-form. He graduated from King's College, Cambridge, in 2001 with a double first in Social and Political Sciences.

In 2000 he was joint winner of The Times Student News Journalist of the Year award for his work on the Cambridge student newspaper Varsity. After university he joined the New Statesman, where he worked between 2001 and 2003, and then wrote two columns a week for The Independent. At the 2003 Press Gazette Awards, he won Young Journalist of the Year.

Richard William Littlejohn (born 1954) is an English author, broadcaster, journalist and satirist. He currently writes a twice-weekly column for the Daily Mail.

Littlejohn was previously a columnist for The Sun and has also written for The Spectator and London's Evening Standard. Littlejohn earned a place in the inaugural Press Gazette Newspaper Hall of Fame as one of the most influential journalists of the past 40 years.

Primarily a newspaper journalist, Littlejohn has also presented numerous radio and TV shows and has authored or co-authored several books. Although many of his newspaper columns are devoted to life and society in England, Littlejohn lives for much of the year in the United States.

Littlejohn was born in Ilford, Essex (now Greater London) in 1954, and his family moved to Peterborough when he was five. His father worked as a policeman and then for British Rail. Littlejohn passed the eleven-plus, obtaining the highest marks in his year. He was offered a public school scholarship which he turned down because the school didn't play football, and subsequently attended Deacons Grammar School.

Avram Noam Chomsky (/ˈnoʊm ˈtʃɒmski/; born December 7, 1928) is an American linguist, philosopher,cognitive scientist, historian, and activist. He is an Institute Professor and Professor (Emeritus) in the Department of Linguistics & Philosophy at MIT, where he has worked for over 50 years. Chomsky has been described as the "father of modern linguistics" and a major figure of analytic philosophy. His work has influenced fields such as computer science, mathematics, and psychology.

Ideologically identifying with anarcho-syndicalism and libertarian socialism, Chomsky is known for his critiques of U.S. foreign policy and contemporary capitalism, and he has been described as a prominent cultural figure. His media criticism has included Manufacturing Consent: The Political Economy of the Mass Media (1988), co-written with Edward S. Herman, an analysis articulating the propaganda model theory for examining the media.

According to the Arts and Humanities Citation Index in 1992, Chomsky was cited as a source more often than any other living scholar from 1980 to 1992, and was the eighth most cited source overall. Chomsky is the author of over 100 books. He is credited as the creator or co-creator of the Chomsky hierarchy, the universal grammar theory, and the Chomsky–Schützenberger theorem.
