Acute Bronchitis
Acute bronchitis is a viral infection of the bronchial tubes that carry air to the lungs. These tubes get inflamed and filled with mucus.

Symptoms
• Cough
• Occasional wheezing
•
Fever
•
Chest pain

Fatigue

Sore throat

Difficulty in breathing

Food groups to consume in acute bronchitis:
1.
Hot Liquids:
Help to eliminate the mucus
Foods to consume: Hot teas, soups, broths and barley water
2. Vitamin
A, C & E :
Rich in antioxidant, help fight against infections & reduce inflammation
Foods to consume:
Carrots, melons, mangoes, papaya, tomatoes, orange, lemons, kiwi, pineapples, gooseberries, guava, cabbage, broccoli, green leafy vegetables, almonds, walnuts, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds & olive oil
3.
Omega 3 rich foods: Anti-inflammatory
Foods to consume: Flaxseeds, walnuts, soya beans and fish like tuna, salmon & mackerel

Recipes based on the above food groups:
Recipe 1: Hot drink
1.
Take 2 cups of water in a vessel
2. Add to it 1 small bunch of lemon grass
3. Also add 1 inch piece of ginger
4. Then add 5-6 basil leaves
5. Now let it boil for 10 minutes
6. Then strain the liquid
7. Lastly, add 1 tsp honey to it before drinking
This is a refreshing mid-meal drink
Recipe 2: Vitamin rich vegetable dish
1. Take 1 tsp oil in a vessel
2. Now add 1 small piece of ginger to it
3. Also add ½ of a sliced onion
4. Then add
3-4 chopped carrots
5. Now stir this for 5 minutes
6. Then add 1 tsp coriander powder
7. Now let it cook for 1 minute
8. Then add 1½ cup vegetable stock or water
9. Let it boil till the vegetables are tender
10. Now turn off the gas and let it cool
11.
Once cool, blend the mixture in a blender till smooth
12. Reheat it again
13. Add some salt to taste
14. Then garnish with 1 tbsp chopped fresh coriander before
serving

Tips:
• Avoid mucus forming foods like fried & processed foods, butter,
ghee, sugar, soft drinks, candies, chocolates, coffee and avoid
excess salt
