Tribute to the Legendary Mick Ronson | Guitar Hangar | Part One
Rick Tedesco has always been an infallible fan of Mick Ronson, from his early days with David Bowie to his later years as a solo artist so inevitably, after Ronson passed away in 1993, Rick decided to begin his search for all things Ronson.
With the Help of his good friend Ian Hunter, and some strategic investigative skills he was able to track down Ronson's infamous Gibson Les Paul and the rest, as they say, is history.
So we hope you enjoy this video we at Guitar Hangar put together for you, as Rick takes you on a journey through his collection of gear Mick Ronson used to develop his sound.

The Mick Ronson Replica Rig Demo
In line with the 40th Anniversary year of the release of Ziggy Stardust we decided to set up a Mick Ronson Replica Rig.
The guitar is a Greco LP customised to look like Ronsons Les Paul.
The amp is a 100 Watt Simms Watt amp as used by Ronson.
We use three pedals to re-create the Ziggy Stardust sound:
-Way Huge Aqua Puss Delay
-Ghost Bender MK1 (like the Tonebender Ronson officially uses)
- Dunlop Crybaby Wah

(Sorry about the poor picture quality, difficult to get a good angle with decent light as the shop is actually very small! we'll be investing in a better quality video camera in the near future)

Ian Hunter and Mick Ronson - Once Bitten Twice Shy 1975 promo STEREO SOUND
I've re-edited this with a fresh stereo track of the original single mix. Blistering solo from Ronno, and possibly the best rock song of the 70's. There, I've said it.

Mick Ronson and Lou Reed on Transformer
From www.theoriginalmickronson.com:
Lou Reed's album, Transformer, was Mick Ronson's first co-production with David Bowie. Transformer was Reed's second album after having left the Velvet Underground. While not given formal credit for his role, Reed credited Ronson for his production work on the album citing Mick as "an incredible guitar player, a great producer and great arranger: a lovely man." The album yielded the single, "Walk On The Wild Side" and led to a relationship with drummer Richie Dharma who'd later tour with Ronson as well as play on his solo albums. Interviewed in 1990 in Goldmine magazine, Ronson recalled of the sessions:
We were pretty sharp and that's how records were made back then. Records were done very quickly. I mean, when David and I produced Lou Reed's Transformer, we recorded the whole thing in 10 days, six hours a day. We recorded the whole thing in 60 hours and it was mixed and that was it.
