The Church of Ireland (Irish: Eaglais na hÉireann) is an autonomous province of the Anglican Communion. The church operates in all parts of Ireland and is the second largest religious denomination on the island after the Roman Catholic Church. Like other Anglican churches, it has retained elements of pre-Reformation practice, notably its Episcopal polity, while rejecting papal authority. Nevertheless, in theological and liturgical matters, it incorporates many reforms of the Reformation, in particular the English Reformation. In accommodating both influences, the church formally identifies as both Catholic and Reformed. Within the church, divisions exist between those members whose subculture is more Catholic-leaning and those members whose subculture is more Protestant-leaning. For particular historical and cultural reasons, the Church of Ireland is generally identified as a Protestant church unlike much of the Anglican Communion.

When the church in England broke communion with the Roman Catholic Church, all but two of the bishops of the Church in Ireland followed the Church of England,^{[citation needed]} although almost no clergy or laity did so. The church then became the established church of Ireland, assuming possession of most church property (and so retaining a great repository of religious architecture and other items, though some were later destroyed). The substantial majority of the population remained strongly Roman Catholic, despite the political and economic advantages of membership in the state church. Despite its numerical minority, however, the Church of Ireland remained the official state church until it was disestablished on 1 January 1871 by the Liberal government under William Ewart Gladstone. Ireland (pronounced [ˈaɪrlənd] ( listen); Irish: Éire [ˈeːɾʲə] ( listen); Ulster Scots: Airlann or Airlan) is an island to the northwest of continental Europe. It is the third-largest island in Europe and the twentieth-largest island on Earth. To its east is the larger island of Great Britain, from which it is separated by the Irish Sea.

Politically, Ireland is divided between the Republic of Ireland, which covers just under five-sixths of the island, and Northern Ireland, a part of the United Kingdom, which covers the remainder and is located in the northeast of the island. The population of Ireland is approximately 6.4 million. Just under 4.6 million live in the Republic of Ireland and just under 1.8 million live in Northern Ireland.

Relatively low-lying mountains surrounding a central plain epitomise Ireland's geography with several navigable rivers extending inland. The island has lush vegetation, a product of its mild but changeable oceanic climate, which avoids extremes in temperature. Thick woodlands covered the island until the 17th century. Today, it is one of the most deforested areas in Europe. There are twenty-six extant mammal species native to Ireland.

The Organ was a Canadian indie pop band formed in 2001 in Vancouver, British Columbia. They officially broke up on December 7, 2006, due to illness and personal conflicts in the band.

The Organ were conceived in 2001 by frontwoman Katie Sketch, born Katie Ritchie, in Vancouver, BC. Sketch's musical training started at the age of three, when she began classical training on the violin. Her childhood was spent largely in ignorance of the underground sounds of The Smiths, The Cure, and Joy Division, whom The Organ would later often be favorably compared to. "Tiffany and Bon Jovi - that was my take on ’80s music."

Sketch has said of the time of the formation of the band, when she and the band members were in their early to mid-twenties. "I was in a musical lull, I couldn’t stand what I was listening to," naming Sleater-Kinney as one example. “The local scene was also pretty shitty, and of course the radio was brutal. Then, by total fluke, my mom’s friend’s husband, Ron Obvious, hired me to help with the audio wiring for a studio he was building for Bryan Adams.” Obvious introduced Katie to the world of independent music, and what she calls "that ’80s sound." He created mix-tapes of bands he thought she’d appreciate as a violinist (Roxy Music, Ultravox) and singers with an "amazing natural vocal pitch" (Siouxsie and the Banshees, Nina Hagen, Kate Bush)). This job also led Sketch to Tara Nelson, the engineer who would later record the Organ’s first EP.

The Duggans (Gaelic: Na Dúgáiní) (pron. the doogans) are an Irish musical duo from Gweedore, County Donegal, Ireland. The twin brothers Noel and Pádraig Duggan came to prominence in the 1970s with the folk group Clannad, and took a ten year break after winning a Grammy Award for their 1998 album Landmarks. They have since toured extensively with their band Norland Wind, and in 2005 released their first studio album Rubicon, which was met with critical acclaim and sold well throughout Ireland.

The duo released their début album in 2005, featuring Moya Brennan, Finbar Furey and Orla Fallon among others. The album also features the king of Tory Island.

Pádraig and Noel Duggan were born Ó Dúgáin on 23 January 1949 in Gweedore, County Donegal.

In 2005, the Duggans recorded their début studio album, made up of traditional songs and ballads in the Irish language along with self-penned songs in English. The album features long-time collaborators Thomas Loefke and Kerstin Blodig of Norland Wind fame, Moya Brennan, Brídín Brennan and Celtic Woman's Órla Fallon.

Amanda Jacqueline Redman (born 12 August 1957) is an English actress, perhaps best known for her role as Sandra Pullman in the BBC One series New Tricks. She is a niece of actress Joyce Redman.

Redman was born in Brighton, Sussex, in 1957. Her father, Ronald, was from Yorkshire and her mother, Joan, from Sussex.^{[citation needed]}

Redman is badly scarred on her upper left arm as a result of an accident when she was 15 months old. She was scalded with a pan of boiling turkey-and-vegetable soup and suffered third-degree burns to 75% of her body. Her arm was the only part of her body permanently affected, but the trauma was so severe that she was pronounced clinically dead at the Queen Victoria Hospital in East Grinstead, Sussex.

Redman trained at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School.

In 1984 she appeared as Marina in the BBC Shakespeare series production of "Pericles Prince of Tyre" opposite Mike Gwilym.

In 1985, She played Janet in the Tour version of 'The Rocky Horror Show' alongside Doctor Who actor Nicholas Courtney, who played the Narrator in the production.^{[citation needed]}
