The Third Man is a 1949 British film noir, directed by Carol Reed and starring Joseph Cotten, Alida Valli, Orson Welles and Trevor Howard. It is considered one of the greatest films of all time, celebrated for its acting, musical score and atmospheric cinematography. Novelist Graham Greene wrote the screenplay and subsequently published the novella of the same name (originally written as preparation for the screenplay). Anton Karas wrote and performed the score, which used only the zither; its title music "The Third Man Theme" topped the international music charts in 1950, bringing the then-unknown performer international fame.
American pulp Western writer Holly Martins (Joseph Cotten) arrives in Allied-occupied Vienna seeking his childhood friend, Harry Lime (Orson Welles), who has offered him a job. Upon arrival he discovers that Lime was killed just days earlier by a speeding truck while crossing the street. Martins attends Lime's funeral, where he meets two British Army Police: Sergeant Paine (Bernard Lee), a fan of Martins' pulp fiction; and his superior, Major Calloway (Trevor Howard), who says Lime was a criminal and suggests Martins leave town.
Fielding in the sport of cricket is the action of fielders in collecting the ball after it is struck by the batsman, in such a way either to limit the number of runs that the batsman scores or to get the batsman out by catching the ball in flight or running the batsman out. Cricket fielding position can be broken down into offside and legside parts of the field.
A fielder or fieldsman may field the ball with any part of his person. However, if while the ball is in play he wilfully fields it otherwise (e.g. by using his hat), the ball becomes dead and 5 penalty runs are awarded to the batting side unless the ball previously struck a batsman not attempting to hit or avoid the ball. Most of the rules covering fielders are in Law 41 of the Laws of cricket.
In the early days of Test cricket, fielding was not a priority and many players were sloppy when it came to fielding. With the advent of One Day International matches, fielding became more professional as saving runs became more important. A good fielding side can often save 30+ runs in the course of an ODI innings.

Back in cinemas September 29th with a special event Q&A; screening September 1st. THE THIRD MAN stars Joseph Cotten (Citizen Kane) as Holly Martins, a naïve writer of pulp westerns, who arrives in a bombed-out, post-war Vienna to meet his childhood friend Harry Lime (Orson Welles), only to find that Lime has apparently been killed in a suspicious accident. Martins, too curious for his own good, hears contradictory stories about the circumstances of Lime’s death, and as witnesses begin to disappear he soon finds himself chased by unknown assailants. Complicating matters are the sardonic Major Calloway (Trevor Howard, Brief Encounter), head of the British forces, and Lime’s stage actress mistress, Anna Schmidt (Alida Valli). Will Martin’s curiosity lead him to discover things about his old ...

Last night I dreamed I took a walk up Calvary's lonely hill
The things I saw with my own eyes could not have been more real
I saw upon three crosses three men in agony
Two cried out for mercy and the third man he looked at me
And oh the hurt in this man's eyes that just broke my heart in two
It seemed I could hear him say son I'm doing this for you
I knelt beneath the third mean's cross and slowly bowed my head
I reached out to touch his feet and it stained my hand's with red
And when I heard him cry in pain I raised my eyes to see
The blood spilled from the third man's side and some of it spilled on me
The third man wore a crown of thorns spikes held him to the tree
And I heard him say oh my God my God why hast Thou forsaken me
And there within a mighty crowd the ones who mocked him cried
King save Thyself if thou art King and then the third man died
Suddenly I heard the thunder roll I saw the lightening pierce the sky
The third man was still hanging there and I began to cry
I saw the boulders fall and heard the breaking of the ground
Then I awoke and though I dreamed I touched my cheek and found
My eyes were wet where I had cried a dream I wished I knew
I still can hear the third man say I'm doing this for you
