BROTHERS IN ARMS (For The Vets)
The first time I heard Dire Straits on the radio was when 'Sultans Of Swing' was released. I couldn't get enough of the song after that and Dire Straits became one of my all time fave rock bands. And when 'Brothers In Arms' was released I could not believe how a guitar could cry like that. The song to me will last like Bach or Beethoven. I also love the video on the song and the animation is fantastic and I had always wanted to do a version to the song and now that I've learned how to use the Sony movie editing program I decided to give it a try. My video is dedicated to all the vets and I tried to include most of the major conflicts within the time frame. The images are not in chronological order except in the beginning. There were so many to choose from and I will list the source of the art and images. I also give to organizations like Paralyzed and Hospitalized Veterans by sending them a few dollars here and there because I myself am on a disability pension from the construction trade. Maybe you too can also give to the organization of your choice. Theo Noam Chomsky and Edward S. Herman Trong "Tài liệu về Kinh tế và Nhân quyền", 2 ông cho rằng vụ việc đã bị mô tả một cách sai lệch, bị thổi phồng, bị tô vẽ nhằm mục đích tuyên truyền. Các căn cứ được nêu ra có thể tóm lược như sau. 1. Những tài liệu căn bản cho câu chuyện này gồm một bản báo cáo do chính phủ Sài Gòn đưa ra và tháng 4/1968, một tài liệu lấy được và đã phổ biến trong công chúng của phái đoàn Hoa Kỳ vào tháng 11/1969, và một bài phân tách dài xuất bản năm 1970 của một nhân viên Phòng Thông tin "USIS" Douglas Pike. Cả hai bản báo cáo của Saigon và của Pike đã gây nên một sự nghi ngờ về nguồn tin, giọng điệu và vai trò của chúng trong một chiến dịch tuyên truyền mở rộng nhằm làm giảm đi ảnh hưởng của vụ thảm sát Mỹ Lai. Nhưng quan trọng hơn nữa là những tài liệu này đã không có sự điều tra hay sự nghiên cứu tỉ mỉ. 2. Sự ước lượng về những nạn nhân của thảm sát tại Huế đã tăng vọt lên một cách đáng kể để đáp ứng lại với những nhu cầu chính trị bất ngờ đột xuất của chính quyền Nixon. Không có nhà báo phương Tây nào đã được dẫn đến những mồ chôn tập thể khi các hố chôn đó được khai quật cả. Ngược lại một nhà nhiếp ảnh người Pháp Marc Riboud đã nhiều lần bị từ chối yêu cầu muốn đi xem một trong số địa điểm nơi mà ông tỉnh trưởng tuyên bố "có 300 cán bộ chính phủ đã bị Việt cộng giết". Người tổ chức AFSC tại Huế cũng không thể khẳng định bản báo cáo về những hố chôn tập thể, những nhà báo độc lập không hề được phép có mặt tại hiện trường và họ rất khó xác định ...
