Coordinates: 47°23′10″N 122°49′34″W / 47.386°N 122.826°W / 47.386; -122.826 Allyn is an unincorporated community in Mason County, Washington, United States. It is part of Allyn-Grapeview, a census-designated place that also includes the community of Grapeview. Allyn is located on the western shore of North Bay region of the Case Inlet of the Puget Sound.The area's main road and thoroughfare is State Route 3. Lakeland Village development, a residential and recreational corporation begun in the late 1960s, has grown over the years into a major community and today includes over 800 homes, a 27 hole golf course, a large club house for resident and public use, and a restaurant.

The community was first settled in 1853. The town was platted and papers to form the town were filed on September 6, 1889, naming the town after Judge Frank Allyn of Tacoma who was influential in the early development of Allyn.^[1] By 1890 Allyn had a post office, school, newspaper, sawmill, two saloons, a hotel and wharf.^[2]

From the 1870s to the 1920s, transportation needs for Allyn and other communities along Case Inlet were once served by a small flotilla of steamboats. The last steamboat run from Tacoma to Allyn occurred in 1924, but local service may have lasted longer.^[3]

The local community based monthly newspaper called the North Bay Review, services Allyn.^[4]

David Allyn, Ph.D. (born April 30, 1969) is Director of Education for New Jersey SEEDS (Scholars, Educators, Excellence, Dedication & Success),^[1] an organization serving high-achieving, low-income students.

He is the author of four books, including Make Love, Not War.^[2][3] and I Can't Believe I Just Did That,^[4][5] and has served as a faculty member at Princeton University and a visiting scholar at Columbia University at the Institute for Social and Economic Research and Policy.^[6] His essays have appeared in The New York Times Magazine and other publications. While an undergraduate at Brown University, Allyn co-authored a book on transferring from one college to another. He and his co-author (later wife) were profiled in The Washington Post and featured on CNN. He has also published articles in Nonprofit and Voluntary Management Quarterly,^[7] The Journal of American Studies,^[8] Teachers College Record,^[9] The Advocate, The Washington Post, The New York Daily News, The Boston Globe and The San Francisco Chronicle.

Allyn is the stepson of the late John Wallach, founder of the nonprofit organization Seeds of Peace.^[10]

Allyn's play Commencement was selected for the 2010 Baltimore Playwrights Festival.^[11] His play Punctuated Equilibrium received a staged reading by the Hangar Theatre Lab in Ithaca, NY in July 2010.^[12] His play Writers Colony appeared in the 2009 Fresh Fruit Festival in New York City,^[13] and Baptizing Adam,^[14] won the James H. Wilson Award for Best-Full Length Play. According to the New York Times, Allyn is "a wicked observer of self-conscious people at their less than best." .^[6] As an expert on the 1960s, Allyn has appeared on Vh1 and The History Channel.^[15]

Allyn graduated from the Georgetown Day School in Washington, D.C. He holds a B.A. from Brown University and a Ph.D. from Harvard University. From 1996-1999, he taught at Princeton University.

Wayne Allyn Root (born July 20, 1961) is an American politician, entrepreneur, television and radio personality, author and political commentator. He was the 2008 Libertarian Party vice-presidential nominee. Root began his career as a professional sports handicapper, based in Las Vegas, Nevada.

His political talk radio show,W.A.R: The Wayne Allyn Root Showis broadcast in New York City, Los Angeles and Chicago. Root is a frequent guest on several nationally syndicated radio shows such as Savage Nation, The Jerry Doyle Show, and Mancow's Morning Madhouse. He has also made numerous appearances on various programs on the Fox News Channel. He is a frequent speaker at Tea Party events across the United States.^[4]

Root was born in Mount Vernon, New York, the son of the late David and Stella Root. His father was a butcher from Bronxville, New York, who dabbled in third party politics as one of the original founders of the New York State Conservative Party.^[7]

Root graduated as Valedictorian from his high school, Thornton-Donovan School, then graduated from Columbia University in 1983 as a Political Science major (in the same class as President Barack Obama).^[8]

Sports handicapper[link]

Root's TV handicapping career began in New York City on WNBC radio (now WFAN) in the early 1980s. He moved onto NBC "Source Radio Network" syndicated around the country in over 100 markets as a sports talk host. He later became one of the youngest anchormen and national TV hosts in America from 1989 through the early 1990s on Financial News Network (FNN), now known as CNBC.

Root is spokesman, board member and Senior Economic Adviser to Wealth Masters International ("WMI"), a global financial services and education company based in Houston, Texas.^[10][11] Norwegian authorities have suspended WMI's sales, finding it to be an illegal pyramid scheme. Root was a longtime Republican Party member and supporter who self-identified as a Libertarian Republican. In 2007, Root ended his association with the Republican Party and joined the Libertarian Party.^[14] He authored a book on his libertarian views, The Conscience of a Libertarian, which was published in 2009.^[14]

2008 presidential campaign[link]

On May 4, 2007, Root declared his candidacy for the Libertarian Party's 2008 presidential nomination on Las Vegas' Fox 5 television station.^[15]

On February 5, 2008, he placed second in the Missouri Libertarian presidential primary with 18% of the vote (47% voted for "Uncommitted"). He came in second in Arizona and third in California, without campaigning in any of these states.^[7]

2008 vice-presidential candidacy[link]

On May 25, 2008, Root made it to the fifth ballot of the LP presidential nomination vote at the 2008 Libertarian National Convention before being eliminated and endorsing Bob Barr, who went on to the party's presidential nomination. Root then became the LP vice presidential nominee, securing the nod in the third round of voting for that nomination.^{[16][dead link]}

In September 2008, Root offered to give up his VP slate on the Libertarian ticket to make room for Ron Paul, as the LP had received feelers that the former Republican presidential candidate may have been interested in getting on a strong third party ticket, as there remained a strong following behind him. Paul declined the offer, and denied any intention of running on a third-party presidential ticket.^[17]

Libertarian National Committee[link]

In 2010, Root ran for the position of chair of the Libertarian National Committee of the Libertarian Party of the United States. His candidacy was endorsed by his running mate on the 2008 Libertarian presidential ticket, Bob Barr,^[18] and by the Party's first presidential nominee, John Hospers.^[19] He was defeated by Mark Hinkle by a vote of 228–281 in the third round but subsequently succeeded in being elected to the Libertarian National Committee as an At-Large Member.^[20][21][22]

In July 2011 Root was elected chair of the "Libertarian National Congressional Committee", a Federal Elections Commission registered entity.^[23][24] He renamed it the "Libertarian National Congressional Committee."^[25]

At the 2012 Libertarian National Convention Root again was elected to the Libertarian National Committee as an At-Large Member, despite being seen as part of the "top-down faction."^[26] The party's 2012 presidential candidate Gary Johnson endorsed Root.^[27] Root received the lowest total of the five candidates elected.^{[citation needed]}

Political positions[link]

Root supports smaller government, reduced spending, reduced entitlements, reduced bureaucracy, dramatically lower taxes, and greater personal freedom for individuals. In the area of education, he supports more parental control, more emphasis on school choice (moving education to the state and local level), and increased competition through vouchers. Root and his wife choose to home-school their children. He is also a strong supporter of gun rights for the individual. Root is a small businessman who believes the 2-party system is built on corruption, greed and bribery. He is a fiscal conservative in the mode of his heroes Ronald Reagan, and Barry Goldwater. He believes most social issues should be determined at the state and local level.^[7] Root calls for the repeal of the income tax and favors replacing it, as well as all other sources of federal tax revenues, with a tax on each state in proportion to its population, with each state deciding for itself how to raise its share of the money,^[28] which is mentioned in Article 1, Section 9 of the U.S. Constitution. This has been called a "State-Rate Tax".

Root holds that "the Iraq war is a disaster". He states the answer is to "use the success of the surge to declare victory and make plans to get out of Iraq as soon as reasonably possible".^[29] He also questions Central Intelligence Agency information on Iran, would use "any diplomatic means", including the United Nations, in order to "avoid another war".^[30]

Mendler was born in Washington, D.C. and attended Lafayette Elementary School.^[2] She then moved with her family to the San Francisco area town of Mill Valley at age eight. It was there where she first expressed interest in acting and began working in plays.^[3] She became the youngest performer in the San Francisco Fringe Festival.^[4]

Mendler had a San Francisco agent when she was 11 years old.^[5] When she was thirteen, she began working in the Los Angeles market, landing her first L.A. role in the soap opera General Hospital in 2006. In that same year, she provided the voice of Thorn in the video game, Bone: The Great Cow Race. In 2007, Mendler played the role of Pamela Jones in the film Alice Upside Down and in 2008, Mendler played the role of Kristen Gregory in the film The Clique.

In 2009, she guest starred as Nick Jonas's love interest on the series premiere of Jonas. That same year, she co-starred with Lindsay Lohan in the film Labor Pains. She has also guest-starred in nine episodes of Wizards of Waverly Place as Juliet Van Heusen, a vampire that Justin Russo (David Henrie) falls in love with. In the same year, She was in the film Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel. She starred in the Disney Channel Original Series, Good Luck Charlie, which premiered on April 4, 2010.

In 2010, Mendler's credits as a singer include the theme song for Good Luck Charlie, entitled "Hang in There Baby". She also sang a cover of "When She Loved Me" from Toy Story 2 for the DisneyMania 7 album.^[6] She recorded a song for the Disney film Tinker Bell and the Great Fairy Rescue, called "How to Believe". In 2011, she starred as Olivia White, the lead role in the Disney Channel Original Movie, Lemonade Mouth. She also starred as Teddy Duncan in the Disney Channel Original Movie, Good Luck Charlie, It's Christmas!. In the same year, she appeared in Disney's Friends for Change Games (where she was the Yellow Team captain), So Random! (where she performed with Lemonade Mouth and participated in sketches), PrankStars and Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (where she made a cameo appearance with her Good Luck Charlie co-star Bradley Steven Perry).

Mendler performed songs in the film Lemonade Mouth, in which she played the lead singer in a high school band. Her first single, "Somebody" debuted and peaked at number 89 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and sold 6,000 copies in the first week in the United States according to Nielsen SoundScan. Her second single, "Determinate" peaked at number 51 in US Billboard Hot 100 and charting in 2 more countries. Songs from the film, include "Somebody", "Determinate", and "Livin on a High Wire", were played on Radio Disney. The soundtrack to the film, which heavily features the fictional band with Mendler on lead vocals peaked at number 4 on the US Billboard 200 album chart. In 2011, she co-wrote and sang the Disney's Friends for Change Games anthem called "We Can Change the World". On August 21, 2011, Mendler was presented at The Fair at the PNE in Vancouver, Canada, and sang an original song titled, "Talk to Me". She also sang a duet with Shane Harper two songs "One Step Closer" and "Wait for Me", and performed a cover of the song "Stand by Me" by Ben E. King. In 2012, she guest starred in the television series, House.^[8] She provided the voice of Arrietty in The Secret World of Arrietty. The song was released on February 2, 2012. In an interview with Kidzworld about what the song is about, Mendler said: "It’s a fun song about a girl who is feeling like she has been the wallflower her whole life and she wants to go out there and take charge. It has the romantic element of her going for the guy rather than waiting for the world to come to her. I wrote it with some great writers and producers. We wrote most of the album together."^[11]

Jason Scott Dolley^[1] (born July 5, 1991)^[2] is an American actor and musician, best known for his roles in various Disney Channel projects. These include Newton "Newt" Livingston III on Cory in the House, Virgil Fox in Minutemen, Connor Kennedy in Read It and Weep and Pete Ivey in Hatching Pete. He currently stars as PJ Duncan in Disney's Good Luck Charlie.

Dolley was born in Los Angeles, California.^[3] Dolley gained his first stage experience at 11 when he and one of his brothers performed the Abbott and Costello "Who's on First" routine in a school talent show.^[4] His first real acting jobs came that same year.^[4] He won the lead role in the award winning short film entitled Chasing Daylight. He was then cast by director Mel Gibson to be 13-year-old T.J. Savage on the ABC TV series Complete Savages. After Complete Savages was cancelled, he starred in the film Saving Shiloh as Marty Preston, in the Disney Channel Original Movie Read it and Weep as Connor Kennedy and in the film The Air I Breathe as the younger form of the character named 'Pleasure' (the adult version of whom was played by Brendan Fraser).

In 2006, Dolley appeared in Duracell's commercial "Trusted Everywhere" Campaign "Amazon".^[5] Dolley was part of the Yellow team in the second edition of the Disney Channel Games, broadcast in mid-2007. When asked about his role in the new Disney Channel Original Series family sitcom, Good Luck Charlie, he replied, "I like the realness of it. I like the more authentic tone. I like the family sitcom. That's something different for Disney, which also appealed to me."^[7] He also said in a different interview, "When I read the script, I was like, 'Oh, this is kind of cool. This is a little different. It has a Full House kind of feel. It's very family-friendly. Families can sit down and watch this and get a real laugh. I think that's what's been cool about it from the start and what's still cool about it today."^[8]

Dolley and cast will be in a feature-length Christmas Disney Channel Original Movie based on the series entitled Good Luck Charlie, It's Christmas! began production in March 2011 for a December 2011 premiere. He will also appear on Disney Channel's Tinker Bell and the Pixie Hollow Games, an animated movie which also stars Brenda Song, Tiffany Thornton and Zendaya.^[9]
