Robert Clark "Bob" Seger (born May 6, 1945) is an American rock and roll singer-songwriter, guitarist and pianist.
As a locally successful Detroit-area artist, he performed and recorded as Bob Seger and the Last Heard and Bob Seger System throughout the 1960s. By the early 1970s, he had dropped the "System" from his recordings, and he continued to strive for broader success with other various bands. In 1973, he put together The Silver Bullet Band, an evolving group of Detroit-area musicians, with whom he became most successful. In 1976, he achieved a national breakout with the album Night Moves. On his studio albums, he also worked extensively with the Alabama-based Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section, which appeared on several of Seger's best-selling singles and albums.
A roots rocker with a classic raspy, shouting voice, Seger wrote and recorded songs that dealt with blue-collar themes and was an exemplar of heartland rock. Seger has recorded many hits, including "Night Moves", "Turn the Page", "We've Got Tonight", "Against the Wind", and "Like a Rock", and also co-wrote the Eagles' number-one hit "Heartache Tonight". His iconic recording of "Old Time Rock and Roll" was named one of the Songs of the Century in 2001.
As I was walking down the street
A pretty girl did I meet
She's looking all so sweet
Just Angel from her head to her feet
I was looking back to see
If she was looking back to see
If I was looking back at her
She wore such a beautiful smile
She must have been a beautiful child
Man she was all so neat
Just an Angel from her head to her feet
I was looking back to see
If she was looking back to see
If I was looking back at her
Her hair was curly shining black
Her shoes and bag were just of lack
She wore the very best of clothes
And also black and shiny nylon hose
I was looking back to see
If she was looking back to see
If I was looking back at her
I was looking back
She was looking back
I was looking back at her
I was looking back to see
If she was looking back to see
I thought you'd last forever
But like a star, you never would
A stairway on the rainbow
I wish that I knew
Your silhouette surrounds me
I miss the way things used to be
Your voice floats in the wind
How I wish you were here...
Solitude is taking over!
By the way,
So many things I kept from you till now
Stand by me,
Reach out for my hand and I will follow!
Beyond this time I'm living now,
I'm ever looking back at you
And when it rains upon the green fields,
I'll be thinking about you..
Remember how it feels now
You taught me freedom with few words
The beauty of this world was
All pointed by you
Solitude is taking over!
By the way,
So many things I kept from you till now
Stand by me,
Reach out for my hand and I will follow!
Beyond this time I'm leaving now
I'm ever looking back at you
And when it rains upon the green fields,
I'll be thinking about you...
Beyond this time (...)
I knew one day you had to leave me
Stories never end 'til you come to conclusions:
Carolina ruadh has a hand in my confusion.
Waits for me to choose which quarter to bend in.
To susie-make-me-blue, or the redhead I'm attending.
Oh carolina ruadh has my heart and all I want to do's
Go down the windy road where my carolina goes:
Down the crooked road where carolina goes to school
Mo charolina ruadh, do you love me?
Tell me true, tell me......
Standing on three queens, thought the game was over.
Then, from the blue, carolina's at my shoulder:
Laughter in her eyes and a smile
That touches all the guys
On down the crooked road where carolina goes to school
--mo charolina ruadh, do you love me?
Tell me true, tell me..

You're living in a place you left behind
Going 'round in circles all the time
Can see the way your head, it's like you're blind
So open your eyes and
Time realign just what you got
With what you nearly had and what you want
You fall asleep and then the moment's gone
So open your eyes and
Yeah, hard to undo time
Hard to separate my past from the wrong
'Cause how can you separate milk from lime
Waste my time
Looking back
You always seem to be looking back
Feels like your mind's always somewhere else
You're always looking over your shoulder
Think about the places you could never be
Beauty in the faces that you never see
As you lie there sleeping, how the moment flies
So open your eyes and
Yeah, they say life makes us backwards
Only you got to live it forward
Don't waste your time, no
Don't waste your time just looking back
You always seem to be looking back
Feels like your mind's always somewhere else
You're always looking over your shoulder
Looking back
You always seem to be looking back
Feels like your mind's always somewhere else
You're always looking over your shoulder
Am I the only one tryna fight off an army
Of memories, dressed up, all tryin' to harm me
I feel cocky running up the steps like Rocky
Until the past comes flashing like paparazzi
Nothing is new so I open my folder
My favorite view is over my shoulder
Everything backwards is my plight
It's landing first would end my flight
Even my tears run up my cheeks, back in my eye
Live I die
Don't waste your time just looking back
You always seem to be looking back
Feels like your mind's always somewhere else
You're always looking over your shoulder
You always seem to be looking back
Feels like your mind's always somewhere else
You're always looking over your shoulder
You're always looking back
Over and over and over
Looking back over my life I can see where I caused you strife
But I know oh yes I know I'd never make that same mistake again
Looking back over my deeds I can see signs of wise girl heeds
But if I just have a chance I'd never make that same mistake again
Once my cup was overflowing but I gave nothing in return
Now I can begin to tell you what a lesson I have learned
Looking back over the slate I can see love turn to hate
But I know oh yes I know I'll never make that same mistake again
Once my cup was overflowing...
Looking back, wish I could say we left the past behind
But you, you pushed me away
Dropping matches on the bridges that didn't need to burn
And I wish it didn't end this way
Left with regret and the pain of words unsaid
I never saw it coming and I never saw the truth
I know I played a role in how things fell apart
But years have past and I can see it clearly
No matter what I said, nothing could have kept it from this end
How could you call yourself a friend
When the words coming from your mouth
Never meant a thing?
How could you call yourself a friend
When everything we were didn't mean a thing to you?
And when you broke down what we built
It made me second guess myself
It made me second guess all of us
But time keeps moving on, and we keep moving on
Always looking forward, we'll leave the past behind
And I keep asking, what is left?
What's left to say when the ties that bind have torn apart?
Looking back I realize no matter what we said
Nothing could've changed the past
Was it all for nothing? I guess we'll never know
Do you ever question your life
And why we do the things we do
Too many questions without answers
(You'll lose)
Living life without lesson
(You'll lose)
When I'm sleeping next to you
And I have arms around you
When I have you in my heart
I feel so close to you
If my dreams were real
If my life was a story
If my dreams were real
I'd put my arms around you
If my dreams were real
I'D PUT MY ARMS AROUND YOU
I'D PUT MY ARMS AROUND YOU
I'D PUT MY ARMS... AROUND
Too many queation without answers
IT'S ALMOST BETTER
Living life without lesson
So blind to see that I lost you
No goodbyes
Just left my side I`m without you now
I was all for you
If my life story you learn
From this my dream were real
I'd put my arms around you
I'd put my arms around you
I'D PUT MY ARMS AROUND YOU
I'D PUT MY ARMS
I'd put my arms around you
I'D PUT MY ARMS
I'd put my arms around you

Once my cup was overflowing
But I gave nothing in return
Now I can't begin to tell you
Oh, what a lesson I have learned
Looking back over the slate
I can see love turned to hate
But I know, oh yes, I know
the rain has left now
but the puddles still remain
the one thing i know
it'll never be the same again
looking back now at the stupid things we did
and all those things i wish i never said (NOTE: or "i wish i never sent away"?)
your way of expressing your friendship with me
is a shotgun blast to my head
all this bullshit leaving me out
it makes me wish that you were dead
the rain has left now
but the puddles still remain
the one thing i know
it'll never be the same again
looking back now at the stupid things we did
and all those things i wish i never said (NOTE: or "i wish i never sent away"?)
now we're stuck in a situation
that's irreversible
i wish we could go back in time but that's impossible
1 2 3 4!
the rain has left now
but the puddles still remain
the one thing i know
it'll never be the same again
looking back now at the stupid things we did
Tanks rolling out on the ground, when the soldiers fire another round
People dying by their own hand, blood drampeled into foreign land
Fighters blasting our cities down, our families lay on the ground
Oppressed people hiding every where, survivors left wounded and bare
World war, can`t be won anymore, tell me what are you fighting for
Jump into combat, In the arms of death, Bullets stolen every single breath
Deprived life killed without thought, people are sold freedom is bought
World war, can`t be won anymore, tell me what are you fighting for
[Solo: Ruby]
Long after the scares are healed, stories told secrets revealed
Learn and understand! Don`t live in fear! Exchange your guns for some cans of beer!
World war, can`t be won anymore, tell me what are you fighting for
World war, can`t be won anymore, tell me what are you fighting for
World war, can`t be won anymore, tell me what are you fighting for
Well I remember all the nights you came to me
You said you wanted more from life
Wanted anything more then me
Would you believe I was happy at the time
Thoughts of you still wonder in my mind
Every time we said goodbye
It took another tear from my eye
Looking back I'm not the lucky one
Now your face is just a haunting memory
And I wander if as time goes on
If you ever think of me
All the time my heart was aching
You walked into the room
Just at the time I thought I'd give in
Looking back at public school
Reading playboy magazine
Insisting that the articles
Were the only things we'd read
Thinking then that love was meant to
Conquer
And if a girl said she liked you
Then you'd bonk her
Don't try to lay that mush on me
Looking back a high school
Getting drunk for the local dance
Lonely boys - nervous girls
Grappling with romance
Thinking then that love
Meant something frightening
A sudden end as brutal
As bolts of lightening
Don't know what it was, but it scared me
Chorus:
From one night stands to wedding bands
To struggling to stay free
Watching time move faster
As hold on helplessly
As love smoulders waiting to be tamed
We grow older staying much the same
Looking back a college life
Seemed like such a compromise
Unsure of my direction
Using brains as my disguise
Thinking then that love meant to
Remember
You only felt it's warmth
When you surrendered
Don't know what it was, but it scared me
You've got a road but you don't know how to take it
It's full of hope but it leads you far from home
You got it made but you don't know how to make it
It looks like you're gonna be out on your own
I can't keep looking back
I can't keep looking back for you
I can't keep looking back for you
You've got a road but you don't know how to take it
We shared a piece but you gotta go alone
I can't keep looking back
I can't keep looking back for you
I can't keep looking back for you
Run away
I'll just look the other way
I can't keep looking back for you
looking back for you
I saw her walking down the street
the little girl she looked so sweet
I followed her for half a mile
I had to stop and talk a while
I was looking back to see
If she was looking back to see
If I was looking back at her
She had a yellow golden hair
and colour followed everywhere
She had a wiggle when she walk
I wanted her to stop and talk
You know that I was looking back to see
If she was looking back to see
If I was looking back at her
- Guitar Solo -

But I know, oh yes, I know
Looking ba-a-ack over my life
I can see where I caused you strife
But I know, oh yes I know
I'd never make that same mistake again
Looking ba-a-ack over my deeds
I can see signs a wise man use
And if I just ha-ad the chance
I'd never make that same mistake again
Once my cup was overflowing
But I gave nothing in retu-u-urn
Now I can't begin to te-ell you
What a lesson I have learned
Looking ba-a-ack over the slate

But I know, oh yes I know
I'd never make that same mistake again
Once my cup was overflowing
But I gave nothing in retu-u-urn
Now I can't begin to te-ell you
What a lesson I have learned
Looking ba-a-ack over the slate
I can see love turned to hate
But I know, oh yes I know
looking back from where we started we never had our sares of laughs
the time we first kissed seemed soo long ago the moment of hurt was
just yesterday so many people tried to pull us apart
and i guess i'm the one the broke the chain but you were the only
one who really made me happy i'm still looking back on who you molded me
into still looking back on how you made me feel still looking back
Looking back over my life
I can see where I caused you strife
But I know, oh yes I know
I'd never make that same mistake again
Looking back over my deeds
I can see signs a wise man heeds
And if I just had the chance
I'd never make that same mistake again
Once my cup was overflowing
But I gave nothing in return
Now I can't begin to tell you
What a lesson I have learned
Looking back over the slate
I can see love turned to hate
But I know, oh yes I know
Verse Number One:
Looking back over my life…mistakes I have made…
I’ve not always done…what I know I should…
And, I’m taunted by the notion…that I’m still to blame..
And I should carry this cross to my grave…
Lord you forgave…when I asked you…
You wiped away all of my shame…
Now I need to be free from these memories…
Take your keys and unlock these chains…
[CHO] I CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT YOUR LOVE…
AND I CAN’T LOVE IF YOU DON’T HELP ME..
SO HELP ME NOW… TO RECEIVE YOUR GRACE..
I CAN’T DIE UPON A CROSS…
THAT YOU’VE ALREADY CONQUERED…
AND, I CAN’T PAY THE PRICE THAT YOU PAID…
BY YOUR BLOOD, I’M SAVED….
Music Channel/Verse Number Two:
When I knelt at the altar…and gave you my heart…
But somehow I kept a hold of my mind…
Now when I don’t listen or obey your word…
I keep thinking back to all of those times…
Lord you forgive when I ask you….
Why can’t I forgive myself…
I need to throw all of my sins and my failures…
Into the sea of forget…fullness….
[CHO] I CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT YOUR LOVE…
AND I CAN’T LOVE IF YOU DON’T HELP ME..
SO HELP ME NOW… TO RECEIVE YOUR GRACE..
I CAN’T DIE UPON A CROSS…
THAT YOU’VE ALREADY CONQUERED…
AND, I CAN’T PAY THE PRICE THAT YOU PAID…
[Tag] No, I can’t pay the price that you paid…
O I can’t pay the price that you paid…
Well we've come a long long way,
Look at everything we know
We're getting smarter everyday,
Ah but where's it gonna go
For all the words that go by,
I've got a feeling inside
That after it's all said and done
Though we've come a long long way
This old world's not much better than it was
Oh it's just like the twenties, machine guns were plenty
Everyday you'd get shot up all the whisky'd get bought up
We'd be dancing the night through, just waiting until
The joke's on you, ah then what do you do
Model T's and Chevies just loaded with heavies
Shining faces like morning roses, aglow with their noses
Pressed on your window, just waiting to shine
Your concrete shoes, to the piano roll blues
We're flying space ships round the stars
Getting faster by the hour
Pretty soon we'll be on Mars
Build another Ivory tower
Thru all the praise that you borrow
There's still hunger and sorrow and after it's all said and done
Though we've come a long long way
This old world's not much better than it was
Oh it's just like the twenties, machine guns were plenty
Everyday you'd get shot up all the whisky'd get bought up
We'd be dancing the night through, just waiting until
The joke's on you, ah then what do you do
Oh
Model T's and Chevies just loaded with heavies
Shining faces like morning roses, aglow with their noses
Pressed on your window, just waiting to shine
Your concrete shoes, to the piano roll blues
Looking back over my life I can see where I caused you strife
And I know oh yes I know I'd never make that same mistake again
Looking back over my deeds I can see signs wise man heeds
And if I just have a chance I'd never make that same mistake again
Once my cup was overflowing but I gave nothing in return
Now I can begin to tell you what a lesson I have learned
Well looking back over the slate I can see love turn into hate
And I know oh yes I know I'd never make that same mistake again
Everything changes
Nothing ever stays the same
I wish I could stop time
Instead of watching it pas me by
I wish I could slow things down
And turn the world around
Always smile, always laugh
Have a good time, while it last
There's no looking back
Everything changes
For better or for worst
Now's the time
To make the best of things first
You've got nothing to lose
By living your life to fast
Because once your dead and gone
Looking back over my life
I can see where I caused you strife
But I know, yes, I know
I'd never make that same mistake again
Looking back over my deeds
I can see signs of wise man heeds
But if I just have a chance
I'd never make that same mistake again
Once my cup was overflowing
I gave nothing in return
Now I can begin to tell you
What a lesson I have learned
Looking back over the slate
I can see, love turn to hate
But I know, yes, I know
I'll never make that same mistake again
But I know, yes, I know
I'll never make that same mistake again
many times i take for granted
just what youve done for me
the heart in which youve planted
is precious for you to see
the cross in which youve hung
is not a plcae for a king to be
Lord the wounds that stung you did it all for, you did it all for me
youve always been so faithful
even when i dont deserve
Lord help me to be more greatful
of the love that you preserve
the cross in which youve hung
is not a plcae for a king to be
Lord the wounds that stung you did it all for, you did it all for me
help me to look into your gracious eyes
take the selfishness away from me
o yeah yeah he died for me (X2)
o yeah yeah
help me to look into your gracious eyes
take the selfishness away from me
I was looking back to see
If she was looking back to see
If I was looking back at her
I saw her walking down the street
Though little does she look so sweet
I followed her for half a mile
I had to stop and talk a while
I was looking back to see
If she was looking back to see
If I was looking back at her
She had a yellow golden hair
I'm gonna follow everywhere
She had a wiggle when she walk
I wanted her to stop and talk
You know that I was looking back to see
If she was looking back to see
If I was looking back at her
Yeah
She had a yellow golden hair
I'm gonna follow everywhere
She had a wiggle when she walk, yeah
I wanted her to stop and talk
You know that I was looking back to see
If she was looking back to see
If I was looking back at her
You know that I was looking back to see
If she was looking back to see
If I was looking back at her
You know that I was looking back to see
If she was looking back to see
Did you ever know that I was dreaming
Someone elses dream now it's too late
No matter what I do now there's no healing
'cause I suffer, suffer anyway
Do you know the feeling when you're falling
Do you know the cold in hearts that lie
Do you know the sense when you are trusting
And you suffer, suffer anytime
I'm never gonna win –
Time was taking all my pride and broke my heart in two
I'm never gonna win
I'm looking back and I find
Something I thought that's already gone
In my dreams there's a sign
Did you ever try to turn back time
Did you ever know that I was dreaming
Someone elses dream now it's too late
No matter what I do now there's no healing
'cause I suffer, suffer anyway
Do you know the feeling when you're falling
Do you know the cold in hearts that lie
Do you know the sense when you are trusting
And you suffer, suffer anyway
I'm never gonna win –
Time was taking all my pride and broke my heart in two
I'm never gonna win
I'm looking back and I find
Something I thought that's already gone
In my dreams there's a sign
When I look back on the things I've seen
The countless faces and the places I've been
I often wonder if it's come to an end
What kind of life is waiting round the bend
When I'm gone will anyone care?
Will all the things I cherish still be there?
Who bears the torch we must leave behind
Never ending questions filling my mind
I'm looking back
At the life I've had
Now looking ahead
I know I should be glad
The memories seem to fill my days
The future's lurking in a crowdy haze
I like to think it's all in my control
But this uncertainty is taking it's toll
I'm looking back
I'm looking back
I'm looking back
I'm looking back
I'm looking back
I'm looking back
Times have changed, don’t know what for.
All the lies, ruining hardcore.
All the people, all their lies. They are the ones I
despise. Spreading rumors behind everyone’s back like
they’ve made one big pact.
Bring it back, Bring it back. To the way it should be,
one big hardcore family. You all know that its worth
the fight. Stand together and do whats right.
You know how hard we work at this, everyday we use our
fists.
We work hard each and everyday, hardcore for life, the
way we’ll stay.
Years and years it took to build, a lot of suckas fed
up a lot of blood was spilled.
I never had shit but this, I never had shit worth
raising my fists for the hardcore.
That’s how we live it, that’s all I got.
We’re gonna keep representing and we won’t stop.
Strength For A Reason that’s how we do, that’s family,
that BFL crew.
They’re not my blood, but they’re family, the only ones
who ever gave a damn for me.
I got your back kid believe its true, if it came down
to it I’d die for you..
I feel the same even though I never said it, just tell
me the motherfucker’s name and he’ll get it.
Its not about fighting, it’s a whole lot more, its
In the mirror I can see reflections staring back at me
I turn away and don't like what I am
The reasons why you can run and hide from answers
You would soon deny and tell me that I still don't understand
Now I always make believe I was modeled just like you
Followed in the footsteps finding everything I needed to
Walk like the dead never hear anything
The legend I've become inside of me
Boy at his youth one day finds out the truth
The years just pass him by
Never look back into the past your reality never seems to last
You fill the voids with shit and believe
Well I've made mistakes on my behalf
Paid the price can only laugh on how and why things really ought to be
Living on the edge of where my fear would touch the sky
Branded by the future scars that make me realize
I'm growing old and my story's been told, will it ever see the light of day
It's all about me this reflection I see as the years just pass on by
Figure out this anger as I watch the time go by
All these dreams and feeling without you ever on my mind
