Halbi (also Bastari, Halba, Halvas, Halabi, Halvi, Mahari, Mehari) is an Eastern zone Indo-Aryan language of the Oriya subgroup, spoken by about 500,000 individuals across the central part of India.^{[citation needed]} It is considered a dialect of Oriya language by linguists.It uses SOV word order (subject-object-verb), makes strong use of affixes, and places adjectives before nouns. It is often used as a trade language, but there is a low literacy rate.

The Mehari dialect is mutually intelligible with the other dialects only with difficulty. There are an estimated 200,000 second-language speakers (as of 2001). In Chhtisgarh Schooled males are fluent in Hindi. Some first language speakers use Bhatri as second language.

Halbi is written in the Oriya & Devanagari script.

Halbi or Halba is a tribal community of India. It is mostly found in the states of Madhya Pradesh, Gujrat, Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra.

The word Halba is derived from word hal ("plough"). The Halba were farmers and landlords. The Halba tribes was the one of the major and most influential tribal group of state Bastar in 17th century.^{[citation needed]} Halba tribes were active in the politics and military of Bastar State. The goddess of Halba tribe is "Ma Danteshwari". The language of Halba tribe is "Halbi", which is combination of Hindi, Chttisghari, Oriya and Marathi. Halba/Halbi tribe has no sub-castes.

Song In (in hangul 송인, in hanja 宋仁) was a civil official in the mid-Goryeo era who became the intermediary founder of the Jincheon Song clan. His highest post was munha pyeongjangsa (문하 평장사). This was the highest government position in the period. Song In was responsible for administration, judicial affairs and economy in the district.

As he performed meritorious deeds during the King, he was conferred with Chanhwagongsin and Jincheonbaek. Baek was a position of politicians who were responsible for administration, judicial affairs and economy in the district. As the government created him Jincheonbaek, his family started regarding Jincheon as their origin. Hence, the family origin became Jincheon Song.

When he was in the position of Sangsanbaek, he tried to be just and fair in all the administrative affairs and strived to enhance the welfare of his people. He also focused on education for the youth and courtesy for people, which made his district famous for most excellent behaviors in the nation. After that, the people have long paid tribute to his feats.
