Police in Dubai have arrested a ‘dangerous criminal’ at a hotel in the Al Baraha area of the city, reports Gulf News.
The suspect is accused of committing two armed robberies at jewellery stores in a neighbouring country, a police official reportedly said. The man was arrested in his Dubai hotel room where the stolen jewellery was found in his possession along with stolen cash.
Major General Khamis Mattar Al Mazeina, acting chief of Dubai Police, reportedly said Dubai Police’s Criminal and Investigation Department (CID) had arrested a dangerous criminal from a Gulf country who managed to flee to the UAE.

The arrested man is also accused of robbing a foreign exchange office on the same day as the jewellery store robberies and leaving the gun he used at the crime scene. The suspect reportedly left other evidence behind which helped police identify him, however he managed to enter the UAE before an arrest warrant was issued for him via Interpol.
He was arrested by Dubai Police within a few hours of them receiving the information on Friday morning.
Police investigations revealed that the suspect arrived in the UAE via Dubai airport and stayed in a hotel in Al Baraha area, where he had earlier reserved a room.
According to Major General Khalil Ebrahim Al Mansouri, Director of Dubai Police CID, the man was spotted in the Al Baraha area accompanied by an Eastern European woman.
“Police followed the suspect until he entered the hotel where he was staying. He was arrested and found with the stolen jewellery and money.”
He added procedures will be taken against the suspect in coordination with the Ministry of Interior.
