Hawaii storm 4/5 December 2007
Hawaii storm 4/5 December 2007 The first time lapse is off the evening before the squall line. Strong winds heavy rain as Kona low squall line moves across Honolulu. Power goes out in the local neighborhood at 1:10 and there is a flash (lightning or power) at 1:37. Not as much lightning as expected, but boy those winds were strong. Sorry about the terrible quality video, I got surprised by the strength of the gust front. Any comments welcome about experiences in this storm. A rare event for Hawaii.

Kona Storm - Nov 4, 2007 High winds, Rain, Lightning
Kona storms are weather events that cause most of Hawaii's severe weather. One or two occur, on average, every year during the winter months between mid-October and late-March. This particular Kona Storm was fairly average, but it occurred after a 21 month dry spell. The ground was unprepared for the heavy rains this storm brought, so flooding occurred, mostly in Kailua on Oahu. Since this storm I have chased both tornadoes and hurricanes, so I now see that the winds didn't gust over 35mph.

Pepper - Face plant - Kona Town The sun is melting that ego, you better find a new place to hide it. Do you really know who you are? Does anybody really care? Go purchase your friends at the mall, there going on sale soon. Meet us at the check out line so we can all laugh at you. I'm feeling depressed and real low no popularity has taken its toll, I know there's no way back from this. So how could life get worse than this. They don't know me they never even gave me a chance. They threw my ass on the bathroom wall I'm thinking bout moving to France. Well, the last mile is miles away and I'm on my way out of the game. You don't know what they made me do and I'm not permitted to say. I got no friends no friends at all people never call me and its all my fault. I got no friends none at all. People think its funny but I don't at all. They'll chase you on your way back home. Slam the door and jump in bed don't you come out till its safe. I guess that by then you'll be dead. Oh why must they come after me why can't they pick on somebody else. It's like I did something wrong, but I guess its something I missed. In the eyes of all of them to nothing I'll ever amount, so when I hear people laughing I know who there laughing about.

Turn Your Lights Down Low (Instrumental)
I spent the last week on the beach outside of Kona, just fishing, drinking and relaxing. I had my camera and figured why not try to record something. This definitely ISN'T the most awe-inspiring and amazing ukulele video ever recorded, it's just another one of my unfinished arrangements, but eh, why not upload it...haha...one day I'll finish a song :P I was slightly hung-over and distracted (there were some papios feeding on the bait fish and I kept looking over at my pole) I'll get some tabs up soon and post a link here for anyone that's interested. Agnes Kimura - Kona Kai 'Opua - 'Ukulele
Agnes Kimura performs "Kona Kai 'Opua" by Henry Waiau during the 2004 Ho'ike of the Hau'oli Hula Studio. This mele tells of a love affair between Liholiho (Kamehameha II) and a woman of rank. It sings of the places and activities of Kona and compares them to the deep emotions of love. Known as Kona of the tranquil seas, the opua or pink cumulus cloud formations that hang low, are regarded as omens of good fortune and good weather. Hinano is the blossom of the male pandanus tree and was used as an aphrodisiac. Na`u is a game of Kona where the children chant "na`u" and hold their breath until the sun disappears. Ho'olulu was an ancient chief of Kona. Kalaninui Liholiho (Heaven's Great Glowing) was the child of Kamehameha I and Keopuolani, the most sacred and highest born of his wives. Trained to be king, he inherited the throne at an early age and co-ruled with Kaahumanu, the Kuhina Nui. Liholiho's third and favorite wife was Kamamalu, his half sister. Nov. 27, 1823, the King and Kamamalu boarded the English ship L'Aigle, the first of the Hawaiian Royals to travel abroad. This tragic state visit with King George of England was to gain political and commercial knowledge to better enable Liholiho to govern his kingdom that had attracted many foreigners. When the royal party arrived in England 6 months later, it was discovered that more that half of the $25000 they carried had been stolen. Before they had an audience with the English Monarch, the Hawaiians were struck with ...
