The Senate postponed a vote today on military strikes against Syria at the President Barack Obama\'s request, as the president and Secretary of State John Kerry focus on a diplomatic solution for the conflict in the Middle East. The US is working with Russia and other members of the UN Security Council on a plan to require Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to turn over the country\'s chemical weapons stockpile to the international community. However, the US and Russia disagree on whether or not to keep the threat of military strikes in any UN Security Council resolution. RT\'s Sam Sacks has more information on the diplomatic wrangling over Syria.

Seaside Boardwalk Fire NJ - Fire erupts on Seaside Park NJ boardwalk

A stretch of boardwalk on the Jersey Shore was engulfed in flames this afternoon when a five-alarm fire broke out in Seaside Park, N.J.

The boardwalk is near the same stretch of sand where a rollercoaster landed upright in the ocean after Superstorm Sandy hit the coastline in October 2012.

The fire began at a Kohr\'s frozen custard stand on the boardwalk, according to WABC.

Officials told ABC News that the section of boardwalk that is on fire is the only stretch that was not rebuilt after Sandy. It was part of the old boardwalk that was not destroyed in the storm, they said.

Children\'s rides and amusements were also located along the part of the boardwalk affected by the fire.

There is no immediate word on how the fire started, according to WPVI. Seaside Park officials did not immediately respond to calls from ABC News.

WorldLeadersTV: SYRIA: US's JOHN KERRY, RUSSIA's SERGEI LAVROV, UN/ARAB LEAGUE's BRAHIMI, in GENEVA MaximsNewsNetwork: 13 September 2013: UNTV CH, United Nations, Palais des Nations, Geneva, Switzerland - The United States (US) and Russian foreign ministers met the United Nations (UN) special envoy on Syria for a second day, seeking to reach a deal on the disposal of President Bashar al-Assad's chemical weapons. Lakhdar Brahimi, the Joint Special Representative of the UN and League of Arab States for Syria met Friday (13 September) with US Secretary of State John Kerry, and Sergei Lavrov, his Russian counterpart as part of a process to place Syria's stockpiles under international supervision. Following the meeting John Kerry and Sergie Lavrov spoke to reporters along with Lakhdar Brahimi, who is trying to organize this conference known as Geneva Two or Geneva II. US Secretary John Kerry described the talks as "constructive" and said they were working hard to find "common ground." John Kerry added that they both discussed "some of the homework that we both need to do" and have "both agreed to do that homework" and are expected to meet again in New York around the time of the UN General Assembly (28 September) "in order to see if it is possible to have success here in the next day, hours, days, on the subject of the chemical weapons." Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said he welcomed the chance to discuss the "longer term goal" of peace in Syria, and that now Syria had joined the Chemical Weapons Convention it was necessary "to design a road which would make sure that this issue is resolved quickly, professionally, as soon as is practical". Joint UN / Arab League Special Representative Lakhdar Brahimi said that it was "extremely important in itself and for itself, but it is also extremely important for us working with you on trying to bring together the Geneva Two conference successfully." Lakhdar Brahimi had been hard at work on the diplomatic front to bring the conference to fruition, including in discussions last week at the G20 Summit in St. Petersburg. The goal of a second Geneva conference would to be to achieve a political solution to the conflict through a comprehensive agreement between the Syrian Government and the opposition for the full implementation of the Geneva communiqué, adopted after the first international meeting on the issue on 30 June 2012. The Senate postponed a vote today on military strikes against Syria at the President Barack Obama's request, as the president and Secretary of State John Kerry focus on a diplomatic solution for the conflict in the Middle East. The US is working with Russia and other members of the UN Security Council on a plan to require Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to turn over the country's chemical weapons stockpile to the international community. However, the US and Russia disagree on whether or not to keep the threat of military strikes in any UN Security Council resolution. Seaside Boardwalk Fire NJ - Fire erupts on Seaside Park NJ boardwalk A stretch of boardwalk on the Jersey Shore was engulfed in flames this afternoon when a five-alarm fire broke out in Seaside Park, N.J. The boardwalk is near the same stretch of sand where a rollercoaster landed upright in the ocean after Superstorm Sandy hit the coastline in October 2012. The fire began at a Kohr's frozen custard stand on the boardwalk, according to WABC. Officials told ABC News that the section of boardwalk that is on fire is the only stretch that was not rebuilt after Sandy. It was part of the old boardwalk that was not destroyed in the storm, they said. Children's rides and amusements were also located along the part of the boardwalk affected by the fire. There is no immediate word on how the fire started, according to WPVI. Seaside Park officials did not immediately respond to calls from ABC News. Parts of the famed boardwalk -- home of MTV's "Jersey Shore" and to amusements and restaurants -- was destroyed in the storm but quickly rebuilt in order to open by the summer of 2013.
