Matt Pegg

Matthew "Matt" Pegg (born 27 March 1971 ) is an English musician and bass guitarist.

Pegg is the son of Fairport Convention and Jethro Tull bass guitar player Dave Pegg. He is an experienced bass guitarist in his own right and has been known to stand in for his father on Jethro Tull tours. He has recorded with Francis Dunnery, Ian Brown and Chris Difford.

Pegg began his professional career in 1989, aged 16, with the band Blinder who played in a contemporary progressive rock style. Blinder played two very successful support slots with the band It Bites, which brought Pegg to the attention of future employer Francis Dunnery. (The other members of Blinder would later form the band Headswim - who signed to Polydor Records - and BlackCar.)

Pegg appeared on Dunnery's Man album in 2001, and toured with him on his Hometown tour (as well as appearing on the Hometown (Live) album of the following year). Since 1993, he has been a member of the group Procol Harum; touring with them regularly and appearing on their The Well's on Fire album and Live at the Union Chapel DVD. He tours with folk-rock group "The Gathering".

Simon Pegg

Simon John Pegg (né Beckingham; born 14 February 1970) is an English actor, comedian, screenwriter, and producer. He is best known for having co-written and starred in the Three Flavours Cornetto trilogy of films: Shaun of the Dead (2004), Hot Fuzz (2007), and The World's End (2013), as well as the comedy series Spaced (1999–2001), all directed by his friend Edgar Wright.

Pegg also portrayed Montgomery Scott in Star Trek (2009) and its sequel Star Trek Into Darkness (2013), Thompson in The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn (2011), and Benji Dunn in the Mission: Impossible film series (2006–present). Much of his work has been in collaboration with some combination of Wright, Nick Frost, Jessica Hynes, and Dylan Moran.

Early life

Pegg was raised in Brockworth, Gloucestershire, the son of Gillian Rosemary (née Smith), a former civil servant, and John Henry Beckingham, a jazz musician and keyboard salesman. His parents divorced when he was seven and he took the surname of his stepfather (Pegg), after his mother remarried. Pegg attended various schools, including Castle Hill Primary School,Brockworth Comprehensive Secondary School and The King's School, Gloucester.

Nick Frost

Nicholas John "Nick" Frost (born 28 March 1972) is a British actor, comedian, screenwriter, producer and author. He is best known for his work in the Three Flavours Cornetto trilogy of films, consisting of Shaun of the Dead (2004), Hot Fuzz (2007), and The World's End (2013), and the television comedy Spaced (1999–2001). He also appeared in Joe Cornish's film Attack the Block (2011). He co-starred in the 2011 film Paul, which he co-wrote with frequent collaborator and friend Simon Pegg. He is also well known for his various roles in the sketch show Man Stroke Woman. He starred in Mr. Sloane as the title character, Jeremy Sloane.

Early life

Frost was born in Dagenham, East London, the son of office furniture designers. When he was ten his sister died of an asthma attack aged 18. He attended Beal High School in Ilford. When Frost was 15 his parents' business failed and they lost the family home. They moved in with neighbours where he witnessed his mother having a stroke due to the stress. Frost left school and took a job with a shipping company to support the family. He subsequently spent two years at a kibbutz in Israel. He met actor Simon Pegg while working as a waiter at a North London Mexican restaurant and the two became close friends and flatmates. Pegg and Jessica Hynes wrote a role for Frost in the cult slacker comedy series Spaced that was partly based on Pegg and Frost's lifestyle at the time.

Edgar Wright

Edgar Howard Wright (born 18 April 1974) is an English director, screenwriter, producer, and actor. He is best known for his comedic Three Flavours Cornetto film trilogy consisting of Shaun of the Dead (2004), Hot Fuzz (2007), and The World's End (2013), made with recurrent collaborators Simon Pegg, Nira Park and Nick Frost. He also collaborated with them as the director of the television series Spaced.

He also co-wrote, produced and directed the 2010 film Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. Along with his friend Joe Cornish and Steven Moffat, he co-wrote Steven Spielberg's The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn. Wright and Cornish co-wrote the screenplay for the Marvel Studios film Ant-Man, which Wright was intended to direct before departing the project.

Early life

Wright was born in Poole, Dorset, but grew up predominantly in Wells, Somerset. Throughout the late 1980s and early 1990s, Wright directed many short films, first on a Super-8 camera which was a gift from a family member and later on a Video-8 camcorder won in a competition on the television programme Going Live. These films were mostly comedic pastiches of popular genres, such as the super hero-inspired Carbolic Soap and Dirty Harry tribute Dead Right (which was eventually featured on the DVD release of Hot Fuzz).

Shaun of the Dead

Shaun of the Dead is a 2004 British horror comedy film directed by Edgar Wright, written by Wright and Simon Pegg, and starring Pegg and Nick Frost. Pegg plays Shaun, a man attempting to get some kind of focus in his life as he deals with his girlfriend, his mother and stepfather. At the same time, he has to cope with an apocalyptic zombie uprising.

The film was a critical and commercial success. Shaun of the Dead was also a BAFTA nominee. Pegg and Wright considered a sequel that would replace zombies with another monster, but decided against it as they were pleased with the first film as a stand-alone product, and thought too many characters died to continue the story.

The film is the first in Wright and Pegg's Three Flavours Cornetto trilogy, followed by 2007's Hot Fuzz and 2013's The World's End.

Plot

Shaun (Simon Pegg) is a 29-year-old electronics shop salesman with no direction in life. His younger colleagues don't respect him. He has an estranged relationship with his stepfather, Phillip (Bill Nighy). His housemate Pete (Peter Serafinowicz) is fed up with Ed (Nick Frost), Shaun's vulgar, unemployed best friend. Furthermore, Shaun's girlfriend Liz (Kate Ashfield) is unhappy with their social life as they spend every date at Shaun and Ed's favourite pub, the Winchester. Because Shaun always brings Ed, Liz is always forced to bring her flatmates, David (Dylan Moran) and Dianne (Lucy Davis). Shaun promises Liz that he will change.
