Elisabetta Canalis (Italian pronunciation: [elizaˈbetta kaˈnaːlis]) (born 12 September 1978) is an Italian actress.

Career[link]

She was a showgirl on the popular Italian show Striscia la Notizia on Italian TV Canale 5 from 1999 to 2002. Canalis had minor roles in the films Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo^[1] and Virgin Territory. ^[2] In 2005, she replaced Michelle Hunziker in Love Bugs 2, the second season of the sit-com Love Bugs.^[3] In 2007, she co-hosted the annual Italian music festival, Festivalbar.^[4] In 2009, she replaced Elena Santarelli on the Italian version of Total Request Live, on MTV Italia.^[5] Elisabetta hosted the Trofeo Birra Moretti 2008,^[6] a summer football competition played between S.S.C. Napoli, A.C. Milan and Juventus.

In 2010, she played a recurring character in season 3 of the TNT series Leverage.^[7]

In February 2011, she successfully co-hosted the most Important Italian song contest, Sanremo Music Festival Sanremo Music Festival with Gianni Morandi and Belen Rodriguez.^[8] She intervested in the Festival Robert de Niro; The actor says also a funny "Ti amo" to Elisabetta.^[9]

Elisabetta's father worked in University of Sassari's clinic and her mother was an Italian teacher.^[24] She has a brother named Luigi.^[25] She was educated in Sassari, where she attended the classical gymnasium, and then moved to Milan to study foreign languages at “Università degli Studi di Milano”, though she never graduated because she started to work at the age of 21.^[26]

She dated American actor George Clooney for almost 18 months. The couple split in June 2011.^[27]

Paola Perego (Monza, 17 April 1966) is an Italian television host.

Biography[link]

She made her debut in 1982 as a model. In 1983 started working in TV in the local station Antenna 3 Lombardia with the comedians Ric e Gian and Teo Teocoli in Ric e Gian graffiti,^[1] being noticed by the important television network Fininvest with which has signed a contract in 1984.

Started working on Italia 1 with Marco Columbro in the primetime show Autostop,^[2] and during al the 80's has work in several entertainment and sports shows like Record, Superecord, American Ball, Cadillac, Grand Prix, Azzurro and Calciomania.

In 1991 she moved to Telemontecarlo where she presented with Remo Girone Settimo squillo and during the season 1991/1992 the primetime show on medicine Quando c'è la salute, with Tiberio Timperi. The year after she signed a contract with RAI and, from 1992 to 1996, hosted the daily shows Mattina due, In famiglia, Pomeriggio in famiglia and Mattina in famiglia, initially with Alessandro Cecchi Paone and then Massimo Giletti.^[3][4]

She returned to Fininvest, which had since become Mediaset, in 1996, and after hosting the short show Aspettando Beautiful replaced Rita Dalla Chiesa in the historical transmission Forum, aired by Retequattro.^[5] She has remained in Forum for six years, until 2003. In 2002 hosted a primetime show on Retequattro, named I sette vizi capitali.^[6]

In 2003 has made her return in RAI and remained until 2005. In that year has replaced Alda D'Eusanio in the Rai 2's show Al posto tuo,^[7] In February 2004 has led to success the Italian version of The Mole, named La talpa, replacing Amanda Lear who left the conduct of the program after the first episode.^[8]

After conducting Festival di Castrocaro Terme^[9] and Sanremo estate with Toto Cutugno, she came back to Mediaset in September 2005 hosting the second season of La talpa on Italia 1.^[10] In January 2006 replaced the journalists Benedetta Corbi and Giuseppe Brindisi in the afternoon infotainment show Verissimo, aired by Canale 5; the decision, taken by Mediaset leaders, has been criticized by the trasmission's journalist staff.^[11]

In September 2006 left hosting Verissimo and replaced Maurizio Costanzo in the Sunday show Buona domenica, giving rise to several criticisms of the quality of the content of the transmission.^[12] In June 2008 also hosted the pilot Il momento della verità, the Italian version of Nada más que la verdad, aired by Italia 1.

In the 2008/2009 season Buona domenica was cancelled and she hosted a new Sunday show, Questa domenica.^[13] In autumn 2008 she also hosted the third of La talpa, on Italia 1,^[14] and from march to April 2009 has presented the fourth edition of the Italian version of The Farm, named La fattoria, on Canale 5.^[15]

After a period of absence from the screen, she came back in TV in March 2010 replacing Barbara d'Urso in the primetime show Lo show dei record, aired by Canale 5.^[16] In May and June of the same year hosted the Italia 1 primetime show Wind Music Awards, recorded at the Verona Arena.^[17]

She came back to RAI in September 2010 hosting the afternoon show Se... a casa di Paola, aired from Monday to Friday by Rai 1.^[18]
