The Ealing Blues Festival is well under way and fans are enjoying a beautiful sunny Sunday. Dr Feelgood is headlining tonight from 21:00.

Congratulations to Londoner Alex Cornwall, from Woodford Green Athletics Club, who crossed the line in a time of 25.40 to come first in the National Lottery Anniversary Run.

It was a five-mile circuit around Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford, east London, and 15,000 people took part.

Croydon's waste and recycling collections will continue to run at earlier times while the heatwave continues, the Croydon Guardian reports.

Originally the changed collections, running an hour earlier, were going to take place on Thursday and Friday.

But with temperatures predicted to stay high, Croydon Council has said the earlier times will continue until further notice.

Thousands are taking part in a parade to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the opening of Shree Swaminarayan Temple in Willesden.

The parade started at Roundwood Park and heads along the High Road and Walm Lane.

Tottenham Hotspur have reached an agreement with Dutch club FC Twente to sign Belgium winger Nacer Chadli.

Chadli, 23, will join up with Andre Villas-Boas's squad for pre-season training in Hong Kong, once he agrees personal terms and passes a medical.

Among the entrants in the National Lottery Anniversary Run around the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park were Adrian Rose, 26, who proposed to his girlfriend Anne Codling, 28, when she crossed the finishing line.

Miss Codling said: "I was excited to see Iwan Thomas come towards me. He said [to Mr Rose] 'I believe you've got something to ask Anne' and he picked the ring out of his pocket."

Mr Rose said: "What better way to do it than in the Olympic Stadium a year after we came here to watch Super Saturday?"

Concern is mounting for the wellbeing of Barnet 14-year-old Anastasija Rakovskaja, who has been missing since Monday.

Anastasija was last seen at school at about 16:00 and did not return home that evening. She is white about 5ft 9in tall with long fair hair and blue eyes.

The Met says Anastasija has gone missing previously, but never for this length of time. She is known to use the London bus network.

Woolwich murder suspect Michael Adebolajo was pushed heavily against a window by prison officers, knocking out two of his teeth, his brother has claimed.

Jeremiah Adebolajo told the BBC he speaks to his brother almost daily, and had also spoken to his lawyer and to the governor of Belmarsh Prison, where the incident is alleged to have occurred.

Five members of prison staff have been suspended after the 28-year-old suspect was injured on Wednesday at the prison in south-east London.
