Keef Hartley Band - Little Big Band 1971 (UK, Blues-Rock, Jazz-Rock) Artist: Keef Hartley Band Location: England Album: Little Big Band Released: 1971 Genre: Blues-Rock, Jazz-Rock Duration: 42:40 A live album, recorded in the Marquee Club (London), June 13-14, 1971. People in the group is constantly changing, not including the nucleus of three or four musicians. The other people came, went, and in 1971 Keith Hartley, imbued with the idea that in a rock band (as in the jazz band) can not be a permanent structure, and the musicians are free to play with other people. And here in the summer of 1971 he realized his old dream: the group has increased to thirteen people, mostly due to a brass section. Recording this disc has recorded a unique situation where such a huge structure located on the small stage of the legendary club Marquee. Such a mini-orchestra was not easy to go on tour, but the sound Keef Hartley Band was tremendous, and tickets for British concerts sold "to cheer." Tracks: 01. You Can't Take It With You (Miller Anderson) - 8:43 02. Me & My Woman (Gene Barge) - 5:23 03. Not Foolish, Not Wise (Jath) - 6:47 04. Legoverture - 21:45 including: a). Keef Hartley Band - Half Breed-Leavin' Trunk -1969
Wild in the Streets is a 1968 film, produced and released by American International Pictures, and based on a short story by writer Robert Thom. The movie, described as both "ludicrous" and "cautionary," was nominated for an Academy Award and became a cult classic. Plot: Christopher Jones stars as aspiring singer and revolutionary Max Frost (born Max Jacob Flatow Jr.; his first public act of violence was blowing up his family's new car). Frost's band The Troopers live together with him, their women, and others in a sprawling Los Angeles mansion. The band includes his 15-year-old genius attorney Billy Cage (Kevin Coughlin) on lead guitar, ex-child actor/girlfriend Sally LeRoy (Diane Varsi) on keyboards, hook-handed Abraham Salteen (Larry Bishop) on bass guitar and trumpet, and anthropologist Stanley X (Richard Pryor) on drums. When Max is asked to sing at a televised political rally by Kennedyesque Senate candidate Johnny Fergus (Hal Holbrook), who's running on a platform to lower the voting age from 21 to 18 (a genuine issue, not passed until 1971), he and the Troopers appear — but Max stuns everyone by calling instead for the voting age to become 14, then finishes the show with an improvised song, "Fourteen Or Fight!", and a call for a demonstration. Max's fans (and other young people, by the thousands) stir to action, and within 24 hours protests have begun in cities around the United States. Fergus' advisors want him to denounce Max, but instead he agrees to support the ...

Reflecting back on the music of the 60's 70' and 80's with a look at VH-1 and how things have really changed....... It is impossible to include all of the talented artists that appeared at the Woodstock Festival, into a four minute video clip. The following did. Also a tip of the hat to the directors and cinematographers of Woodstock, Stoned, Seventh Seal and Neal Young and the various MTV / VH-1 artists that helped to make this movie a hoot to put together. CANNATA Woodstock Musicians and Bands....... About Stone Foundation
Ecorse….Tamworth…Detroit…Atherstone…World’s apart, A different axis . At least you would have thought so, but our adventures on this musical merry go round do quite often throw up some unlikely happenings.
It was more by luck than judgement that we found our paths crossing and collaborating with Soul veteran Steve Calloway. Steve is from Ecorse, Michigan, and in the early 60’s had been lead vocalist with Detroit Vocal harmony group The Professionals and had witnessed first hand the birth of the Motown label and worked alongside the legendary Funk brothers, himself one of the many immense talents that indeed stood in the shadows of the Motor City’s famed and historic record label.
There’s always been an extraordinary bond between the music of Black America and the lifestyle of the Working Class British incurable, It’s that whole searing Modernist aesthetic. One that we ourselves have long been fascinated by.
Over the course of a few days, in an uncharacteristically tropical British heatwave, we rehearsed, recorded and gigged with Steve backing him on a handful of concerts he was performing at Northern Soul events on only his second trip to the UK. He was enthralled by the knowledge, passion, devotion and appreciation that he encountered from the underground soul fraternity . He was more excited, inspired, spirited and jubilant to be singing now than he has ever been.
Mod made Modern....
The new EP featuring Steve Calloway is available to pre order now by following the links on this page.
Keep checking in for more info and gigs that are being added constantly.
Hope to see you sometime ( somewhere ) real soon.......
SF ( August 2009 )
The EP with Steve Calloway is getting played on The Craig Charles Funk and Soul Show – BBC 6Music
