Dr. Phil - My Mother In Law Destroyed My Marriage (14 January 2014)
Phillip Calvin McGraw (born September 1, 1950), best known as Dr. Phil, is an American television personality, author, psychologist, and the host of the television show Dr. Phil, which debuted in 2002. McGraw first gained celebrity status with appearances on The Oprah Winfrey Show in the late 1990s.[3] McGraw was born in Vinita, Oklahoma, the son of Anne Geraldine "Jerry" (née Stevens) and Dr. Joseph J. "Joe" McGraw, Jr.[4][5] He grew up with two older sisters, Deana and Donna, and younger sister Brenda[6] in the oilfields of North Texas where his father was an equipment supplier. During McGraw's childhood, his family moved so his father could pursue and obtain a lifelong goal of becoming a psychologist. Phil McGraw attended Shawnee Mission North High School in Overland Park, Kansas. In 1968, he was awarded a football scholarship to the University of Tulsa, where he played middle linebacker under Coach Glenn Dobbs. On November 23 of that year, McGraw's team lost to the University of Houston 100--6, which is one of the most lopsided games in college football history.[7] Coach Dobbs retired after that season and McGraw transferred to Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas.- published: 23 Jan 2014

Australia high court overturns ACT gay marriage law
Australia high court overturns ACT gay marriage law
Australia's High Court has overturned legislation allowing gay marriage in the Australian Capital Territory (ACT). The ACT parliament passed a bill in October making the territory the first part of Australia to legalise same-sex weddings. But the national government challenged the decision, saying it was inconsistent with federal laws. Some 27 couples who married since the law came into effect last weekend will now have their unions declared invalid. The court said the issue should be decided by parliament - which in September 2012 voted down gay marriage legislation. 'Matter for lawmakers' The ACT legislation had allowed gay couples to marry inside the ACT, which includes the Australian capital, Canberra - regardless of which state they live in. Federal law, however, specified in 2004 that marriage was between a man and a woman. Civil unions are allowed in some states in Australia. http://adf.ly/ZaQjJ- published: 12 Dec 2013

Morocco amends controversial rape Marriage law For more Latest and Breaking News Headlines SUBSCRIBE to http://www.youtube.com/user/24X7BreakingNEWS The parliament of Morocco has unanimously amended an article of the penal code that allowed rapists of underage girls to avoid prosecution by marrying their victims. The move follows intensive lobbying by activists for better protection of young rape victims. The amendment has been welcomed by rights groups. Article 475 of the penal code generated unprecedented public criticism. It was first proposed by Morocco's Islamist-led government a year ago. But the issue came to public prominence in 2012 when 16-year-old Amina Filali killed herself after being forced to marry her rapist. She accused Moustapha Fellak, who at the time was about 25, of physical abuse after they married, which he denies. After seven months of marriage, Ms Filali swallowed rat poison. The case shocked many people in Morocco, received extensive media coverage and sparked protests in the capital Rabat and other cities. Article 475 provides for a prison term of one to five years for anyone who "abducts or deceives" a minor "without violence, threat or fraud, or attempts to do so". But the second clause of the article specifies that when the victim marries the perpetrator, "he can no longer be prosecuted except by persons empowered to demand the annulment of the marriage and then only after the annulment has been proclaimed". This effectively prevents prosecutors from independently pursuing rape charges. In conservative rural parts of Morocco, an unmarried girl or woman who has lost her virginity - even through rape - is considered to have dishonoured her family and no longer suitable for marriage. Some families believe that marrying the rapist addresses these problems. While welcoming the move, rights groups say that much still needs to be done to promote gender equality, protect women and outlaw child marriage in the North African country. The original legislation had been passed on 7 December in the Australian Capital Territory (ACT), a small, self-governing territory which includes the country's capital city, Canberra. However Australia's conservative government challenged it saying it conflicted with federal law. On Thursday the country's High Court agreed. For the more than 20 couples who had tied the knot, finding out their marriage was annulled was heartbreaking: Newlywed Glenda Lloyd said: "we are very disappointed. We are quite devastated. Obviously we knew that this was a possibility but it was still quite sad to sit in the court and hear that judgement." Ivan Hinton, who had married his partner last week said: "this is personally devastating. In less than a week we've been married and we've been unmarried at least on a legal level. As one of the beautiful couples behind me said, we're still married." Australia's Prime Minister Tony Abbott opposes gay marriage and his coalition has blocked two bills which would have allowed same-sex partnerships to be recognised.
