Yesterday ~ December 28, 2011 we drove to Hingham Massachusetts to the Trustees of Reservation ~ Worlds End. This is such a beautiful place. I really enjoyed coming here. They have very nice trails to walk on. There is a great view of The Boston Harbor and Skyline and of Nantasket Beach, Hull Massachusetts. It was very cold and windy. Most of my videos came out very noisy due to the high winds.. so I took mostly pictures. We will definitely come back here again

Hingham, Massachusetts
Hingham is a town in metropolitan Greater Boston on the South Shore of the U.S. state of Massachusetts in northern Plymouth County. At the 2010 census, the population was 22,157. Hingham is known for its colonial history and location on Boston Harbor. The town was named after Hingham, Norfolk, and was first settled by English colonists in 1633.
History
The town of Hingham was dubbed "Bare Cove" by the first colonizing English in 1633, but two years later was incorporated as a town under the name "Hingham". The land on which Hingham was settled was deeded to the English by the Wampanoag sachem Wompatuck in 1655. The town was within Suffolk County from its founding in 1643 until 1803; and Plymouth County from 1803 to the present. The eastern part of the town split off to become Cohasset in 1770. The town was named for Hingham, a village in the English county of Norfolk, East Anglia, whence most of the first colonists came, including Abraham Lincoln's ancestor Samuel Lincoln (1622–90), his first American ancestor, who came to Massachusetts in 1637. A statue of President Lincoln adorns the area adjacent to downtown Hingham Square.

New England
New England is a region which comprises six states of the Northeastern United States: Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont. It is bordered by New York to the west, Long Island Sound to the south, the Atlantic Ocean and the Canadian province of New Brunswick to the east, and the Canadian province of Quebec to the north.
In one of the earliest English settlements in North America, Pilgrims from England first settled in New England in 1620, forming the Plymouth Colony. Ten years later, the Puritans settled north of Plymouth Colony in Boston, thus forming Massachusetts Bay Colony. Over the next 126 years, New England fought in four French and Indian Wars, until the British and their Iroquois Confederacy allies defeated the French and their Algonquin allies in North America.
In the late 18th century, the New England Colonies initiated the resistance to the British Parliament's efforts to impose new taxes without the consent of the colonists. The Boston Tea Party was a protest to which Great Britain responded with a series of punitive laws stripping Massachusetts of self-government, which were termed the "Intolerable Acts" by the colonists. The confrontation led to open warfare in 1775, the expulsion of the British authorities from New England in spring 1776, and the Declaration of Independence in July 1776.

Yesterday ~ December 28, 2011 we drove to Hingham Massachusetts to the Trustees of Reservation ~ Worlds End. This is such a beautiful place. I really enjoyed coming here. They have very nice trails to walk on. There is a great view of The Boston Harbor and Skyline and of Nantasket Beach, Hull Massachusetts. It was very cold and windy. Most of my videos came out very noisy due to the high winds.. so I took mostly pictures. We will definitely come back here again

Number ten, Copley Square. Many important buildings with diverse architecture styles are here. This is also the site of the Boston Marathon's finish line.
Number nine, Boston Public Library. A national historic landmark, it was founded in the middle of the 19th century and was the first public library of its kind.
Number eight, Back Bay. An affluent neighborhood in Boston, take a walk around the neighborhood and enjoy its quaint streets with charming Brownstones.
Number seven, Harvard University. Considered to be the world's greatest academic institution, you can tour its campus to soak in the wonderful ambiance.
Number six, Trinity Church. Said to be one of the greatest buildings in the country, for a special treat, attend a concert during Christmas season.
Number five, Granary. Part of the Freedom Trail, it was built in 1660. The site is the resting place for many prominent personalities and statesmen.
Number four, Beacon Hill. A famous historical neighborhood of Boston, amidst its well preserved streets, you will feel like you've gone back in time.
Number three, Faneuil Hall. Constructed in 1742, it has been an important meeting hall. Today there's a market that offers many places to eat and shop.
Number two, Massachusetts State Building. Given its gold dome, the state capital can not be missed. It is the seat of the Massachusetts government.

In a city that is the home of the nation's top universities, we can start our list in the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, AKA MIT, located in Cambridge. this great institute features 168 acres of architectural buildings, statuary and the MIT Museum. One of the highlights of the MIT is the Stata Center, a complex known for its controversial design, built in 2004 and designed by the well-known architect Frank Gehry.
At number 9 we suggest the Massachusetts state house. the 1797 historic landmark is one of the 16 stops of the famous Freedom trail. watch our special video on this trail at Vidtur.com. the Massachusetts state house is one of the most beautiful buildings in the trail, mainly recognized by it's gilded dome, and red brick façade. and it is located in one of Boston's most beautiful naighborhoods, Beacon Hill. Guided tours of the historic building are available all year long, for free! As you may imagine, this is not the only landmark from the Freedom trail on our list...
At number 8 we recommend the oldest public park in Boston, the Boston Common. The peacefull park was not so peacfull before the 1817, as it was used for public hangings. located in the heart of the city, this huge park features some of the mst popular sights of Boston, and it is also the first station of the freedom Trail. Number 7 is Prudential center. This commercial complex features many of the most popular shops in the fashion world. One of the exciting attractions is the Prudential Skywalk in the 50th floor of the Prudential Tower, which is one of the tallest skyscrapers of Boston. Late Night Library is excited to announce the first annual Virgin Awards—a contest reserved for those who have yet to publish their first full-length book or collection. Nine prizes will be awarded in the genres of creative nonfiction, fiction, and poetry. Submit 5,000 words of prose or five pages of poetry with a $10 entry fee by November 30th!

Alexis Margaret Smith grew up in Soldotna, Alaska, and Seattle, Washington. She attended Mount Holyoke College, Portland State University, and Goddard College, where she earned an MFA in Creative Writing. Her writing has appeared in Tarpaulin Sky and on Powells.com. She currently lives in Portland, Oregon, with her son, two cats, and their beloved view of the St. Johns bridge. Her debut novel, Glaciers, was published by Tin House in 2012.
Samiya Bashir's poetry, stories, articles and editorial work have been featured in numerous publications including, most recently and forthcoming, in Poet Lore, Michigan Quarterly Review, Crab Orchard Review, Cura, The Rumpus, Literature: Craft & Voice, Callaloo, and Encyclopedia Vol. 2 F-K. A long-time communications professional focused on editorial, arts, and social justice movement building, she is a founding organizer of Fire & Ink, an advocacy organization and writer's festival for LGBT writers of African descent and a recipient of the 2011 Aquarius Press Legacy Award, given annually in recognition of women writers of color who actively provide creative opportunities for other writers. She currently lives in Portland, Oregon, where she teaches creative writing at Reed College. Her debut collection of poetry, Where the Apple Falls, was published by RedBone Press in 2005.
James Bernard Frost is the author of the novel World Leader Pretend, and the award-winning travel guide The Artichoke Trail. His fiction and non-fiction has been published in many places, including the San Francisco Examiner, the San Francisco Bay Guardian, and Wired. He lives in Portland, Oregon with the author Kerry Cohen, their four children, the rain, the freaks, and the trees. His bike is currently in disrepair. His debut travel guide, The Artichoke Trail, was published in 2000 by Hunter Publishing.
Emily Kendal Frey is the author of the full-length poetry collection The Grief Performance; the chapbooks Frances, The New Planet, and Airport; as well as three chapbook collaborations. She received a B.A. from The Colorado College in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and an M.F.A. from Emerson College in Boston, Massachusetts. She lives in Portland, Oregon. The Grief Performance, published in 2011 by Cleveland State University Press, was her first full-length collection of poetry.

Our first time at Worlds End ~ Trustees of Reservation in Hingham Ma
Yesterday ~ December 28, 2011 we drove to Hingham Massachusetts to the Trustees of Reservation ~ Worlds End. This is such a beautiful place. I really enjoyed coming here. They have very nice trails to walk on. There is a great view of The Boston Harbor and Skyline and of Nantasket Beach, Hull Massachusetts. It was very cold and windy. Most of my videos came out very noisy due to the high winds.. so I took mostly pictures. Town of Hingham POW ★ MIA Tribute
On August 1st the Town of Hingham paid tribute to all Prisoners of War and all those Missing in Action by dedication a POW & MIA Chair at Town Hall. The dedication kicked off with a Motorcycle Rally by Rolling Thunder, Massachusetts Chapter 1. They Rode from the Hingham Shipyard to Town Hall and the ride was followed by a dedication ceremony lead by Hingham Veterans' Services Officer Keith Jermyn.

WEBINAR: Substance-Use Disorders in Adolescents and the Elderly
Substance-use disorders are becoming the most significant public problem affecting adolescents, with recent work by Merikangas and colleagues showing that 11.4% of adolescents have a substance-use disorder and only 15.4% of those youths receive treatment. Likewise, the 2009 SAMHSA’s National Survey on Drug Use and Health revealed dramatic increases in illicit drug use in older adults. Complications that occur with increasing frequency with age, such as medical comorbidity, cognitive impairment, and frailty, contribute to the potential adverse interactions between substance misuse and an aging brain. Clinical research is beginning to clarify the consequences of unrecognized substance abuse and/or dependence in these special populations. This presentation will address what is already known...

He was a descendant of Samuel Lincoln, who migrated from Norfolk, England to Hingham, Massachusetts, in 1638. Samuel's grandson and great-grandson began the family's western migration, which passed through New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. Lincoln's paternal grandfather and namesake, Captain Abraham Lincoln, moved the family from Virginia to Jefferson County, Kentucky in the 1780s. Captain Lincoln was killed in an Indian raid in 1786. His children, including six-year-old Thomas, the future president's father, witnessed the attack. After his father's murder, Thomas was left to make his own way on the frontier, working at odd jobs in Kentucky and in Tennessee, before settling with members of his family in Hardin County, Kentucky, in the early 1800s.

The dedication kicked off with a Motorcycle Rally by Rolling Thunder, Massachusetts Chapter 1. They Rode from the Hingham Shipyard to Town Hall and the ride was followed by a dedication ceremony lead by Hingham Veterans' Services Officer Keith Jermyn.

Substance-use disorders are becoming the most significant public problem affecting adolescents, with recent work by Merikangas and colleagues showing that 11.4% of adolescents have a substance-use disorder and only 15.4% of those youths receive treatment. Likewise, the 2009 SAMHSA’s National Survey on Drug Use and Health revealed dramatic increases in illicit drug use in older adults. Complications that occur with increasing frequency with age, such as medical comorbidity, cognitive impairment, and frailty, contribute to the potential adverse interactions between substance misuse and an aging brain.
Clinical research is beginning to clarify the consequences of unrecognized substance abuse and/or dependence in these special populations. This presentation will address what is already known about substance abuse, recent research trends, and implications for psychiatric practice.
Learning objectives:
– Analyze the prevalence of substance-use disorders among adolescents and older adults.
– Assess how to recognize symptoms of withdrawal and initiate specific protocols geared to older populations.
– Discuss evidence-based treatments specific to adolescents and older populations.
SPEAKER:
Dr. Olivera Bogunovic
Psychiatrist and Co-Founder – Hingham Wellness
Dr. Olivera Bogunovic is a psychiatrist and a co-founder of Hingham Wellness. Dr. Bogunovic is particularly interested in understanding the relationship between psychiatric illness and addiction and has devoted her career to addiction and geriatric psychiatry. She completed medical training at the University of Belgrade and subsequently completed psychiatry residency training at SUNY-Brooklyn.
Dr. Bogunovic obtained sub-specialty training by completing a geriatric psychiatry fellowship at New York University and an addiction psychiatry fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital and McLean Hospital. She is board certified in psychiatry, addiction psychiatry, and geriatric psychiatry. Following training, Dr. Bogunovic worked as medical director of an inpatient psychiatry unit, as well as a residential program for women with co-occuring psychiatric and addictive disorders.
In addition to her work at Hingham Wellness, Dr. Bogunovic directs a residential treatment program in the Division of Alcohol and Drug Abuse at McLean Hospital and is the associate program director of the Partner’s Health Care System addiction psychiatry fellowship program. Dr. Bogunovic’s clinical interests include her development of an outpatient benzodiazepine taper program. She is on the faculty at Harvard Medical School.
SPEAKER: Dr. Benjamin Silverman
Psychiatrist and Co-Founder – Hingham Wellness
Dr. Benjamin Silverman is a psychiatrist and a co-founder of Hingham Wellness. Dr. Silverman graduated from college and medical school at the Johns Hopkins University and subsequently completed his psychiatry residency at the Massachusetts General Hospital and McLean Hospital Adult Psychiatry Residency Training program.
Dr. Silverman obtained sub-specialty training by completing fellowship training in addiction psychiatry through the Partners HealthCare System (McLean Hospital/Massachusetts General Hospital/Brigham and Women’s Hospital), as well as fellowship training with the Division of Medical Ethics at Harvard Medical School. He is board certified in psychiatry and addiction psychiatry. In addition to his work at Hingham Wellness, Dr. Silverman is Vice-Chair of Panel B for the McLean Hospital Institutional Review Board and is on the faculty at Harvard Medical School, where he teaches ethics to first year medical students and psychiatry residents.
